Yota is a telecommunications company that has made a lot of noise in its market sector. In a short time of work, she acquired many followers. But reviews of the Yota mobile operator vary quite a bit. People share opinions about the quality of communication and the benefits of tariffs. To make it easier for you to form your opinion, we have grouped reviews about Yota mobile communications into blocks. After reading them, you will undoubtedly have a certain idea about the provider.

Review 1, Artem Ignatov, Yota operator, Rostov-on-Don
Hello everyone, I have been using a SIM card from the Yota operator for more than three years. I want to tell you that everything is cool. In principle, this could be the end of the review, but I will continue. I pay 300 rubles a month, and at the same time I get 1000 minutes for communication, in my opinion, this is even very good.
A small drawback of the tariff occurs when communication goes beyond the provided volume of minutes. You have to extend it by 100 minutes each time, since adding 2000 minutes to the traffic is too much, and also expensive. I can say that I’m not entirely happy with the option of replenishing the package with minutes.
The cost of Yota internet makes me happy. Traffic is used sparingly. I was pleased with the ability to send unlimited messages. This is very cool. I really hope that Yota will not impose restrictions on them in the future.
To summarize my review, I want to say that I did not find any obvious disadvantages. Of course, there are some shortcomings, but which operator can boast of their absence. On Yota, at least, everything is simple and clear with the tariff plan. It works the same all over the country. You choose the number of minutes you need and the amount of Internet, in my opinion, this is a big advantage.
Of course, the 4G network coverage area is small. There are interruptions in communication and the Internet, especially when I go out of town. There the signal often disappears completely. But I hope and believe that this problem will be corrected over time. Still, Yota does not stand still and is developing.
Feedback on the benefits:
Optimal price. The cost of services is the same throughout Russia.
Feedback on the shortcomings:
Weak network coverage area. Signal interruptions may occur periodically.
Review 2, Elena Prosvetova, Yota operator, Moscow
To begin with, I’ll note that I met Yota absolutely by accident. Until this moment, I used the services of other providers. One day I went to a forum where there was a discussion about it. I read the reviews about Yota and decided to buy it for myself. It turned out that I had two SIM cards in my hands. One is a megaphone, the other is Yota.
Let's talk second. It cost me 490 rubles a month. Gradually I began to notice that Yota has much better reception than a megaphone (1 SIM card), gives 300 minutes for communication and a package with free SMS (I don’t particularly use them, but as an advantage, it’s certainly great). In general, there was a strong feeling that Yota is much more profitable.
I am still grateful for the decisive review I read. I will never part with Yota again. I’m very pleased that after paying the monthly subscription fee, I don’t pay anything else, even when traveling around the country. On any trip we use my phone as a navigator. Great connection. In the Moscow region there are no problems at all, which cannot be said about that megaphone (it doesn’t pick up in places). Sometimes the connection is lost outside the city, but this is a minor thing. Calls are going great.
After gaining experience using the operator’s services, I was somewhat surprised by what I read on the sites. In particular, negative reviews about Iota mobile communications. Either I was just lucky, or I have the right karma, but I never had any significant problems with the operator.
There was a situation in 2021, then the connection was completely lost for all clients. This lasted several days, but I don’t remember anything else serious.
The Yota operator has cool and polite employees. The technical support service is ready to help at any time, and explains in a clear manner any points that have caused misunderstanding. I used the app to chat several times.
Yota does not develop the annoying advertising and heaps of paid additional functions that are inherent in other cellular operators. For example, on one of the old SIM cards of some provider, I had several messages every day about some kind of draw or quiz. I read about this on the Internet, I don’t remember exactly what kind of operator he was, but absolutely everyone encountered this annoying problem. Yota, neither in reviews nor in fact, is famous for sending out such slag. This makes me very happy.
I note that the Yota operator upset me a little when traveling abroad. Arriving at the place, I discovered an unpleasant fact, to put it mildly. There was no connection and I couldn’t pick up her phone. I was wondering about searching for a problem on the Internet: why Yota doesn’t provide communication abroad, because the service seems to be present in the application.
As it turned out, roaming is connected through the SIM card menu. A unique and interesting option, but due to ignorance you can be left without communication. Which is exactly what happened to me. By the way, I couldn’t connect wi-fi at the airport (in another country) because the password comes via SMS message.
And about pleasant things. I found out the latest information. I contacted technical support and the young man explained to me how to enable roaming correctly. The prices are quite reasonable.
A cool bonus from the Yota operator - communication via popular applications like Viber and WhatsApp is completely free.
Recently I had a chance to check how well communication abroad really works. When I was in Europe, I used Viber. There were no special problems with the connection, it disappeared several times, but these are minor things. Free Internet abroad, in my opinion, is really cool. Unfortunately, you cannot send photos for free, only messages. But as they say, thank you very much for that.
In conclusion of my review of Eta, I want to say that I am very dissatisfied with Yota’s new policy of collecting your own package. I tried to collect it for myself, but the amount turned out to be more than 700 rubles. It's a pity that unlimited internet was cancelled. But overall I am very pleased with the Yota operator. The main thing is to maintain the existing level in the future and not lose positions.
For now I’m on the old tariff, if they force me to switch to a new one, I’ll leave the provider (It will be a pity, but for now I’m happy to be friends with Yota)
Feedback on the benefits:
Services throughout the country are free, there are no annoying advertisements. Communication in the Moscow region is excellent. The price for the old service package is quite satisfactory.
Feedback on the shortcomings:
They didn’t warn me about roaming rules, and I was left without a network in another country.
Review 3, Anastasia Konovalova, Yota operator, Zheleznogorsk
Greetings dear readers of my review. I’ll start the story by explaining how we came to the services of the Yota provider. Our daughter studies in a big city, she connected herself to an operator’s SIM card a year ago. She praised him for a long time and advised us to switch too.
The moment came when we went to a sanatorium located in another region. To avoid roaming robbery from our mobile operator, we decided to connect Yota. So, we got 100 minutes to talk.
It’s worth saying that compared to how much it cost us before, we saved a lot on calls home. We were very pleased with the cost of the services and continue to use them to this day. We make calls to each other for free, we have one operator. Good conditions, nothing to say. But the quality of communication, frankly speaking, is not the best. Nevertheless, we are satisfied with this now.
Yota does not have such a concept as “roaming” in Russia.
I have not completely switched to this operator yet. My phone allows you to install two SIM cards and that suits me. Plus I read a lot of negative reviews about Yota. I'm happy with everything so far. It is inexpensive, only 240 rubles per month. In my opinion, this is quite acceptable.
Feedback on the benefits:
It doesn't cost much. Convenient for travel.
Feedback on the shortcomings:
The call quality could be better.
Review 4, Svetlana Pushkina, Yota operator, Ryazan
Greetings to everyone who decided to stop by! Today I will share with you the experience gained using the services of the relatively new provider Yota.
Some time ago it happened that my information space was suddenly filled with commercials from this provider. The appeal of the advertisement was mainly to attract the client to try unlimited Internet completely free of charge, plus get 100 minutes of communication. As a rule, I do not succumb to this kind of provocation and skip such information.
But it so happened that at work, all the office employees rushed in a single stream to change their SIM cards. Here I couldn’t resist either. In addition, the courier, as he knew, arrived with spare SIM cards. Thus, I became the happy owner of a SIM card with the wonderful prefix 999. My old Megafon SIM card went to a well-deserved rest in a spare smartphone.
At that time, I had been a Megafon subscriber for 10 long years. I can’t say that everything was cloudless and wonderful. But mainly due to my own laziness and unwillingness to change anything, I continued to stay with this operator. Or maybe it’s just a matter of habit, but that’s not the point.
I am the happy owner of an iPhone 6 and, naturally, I actively use the mobile Internet. This is the main reason that I decided to try Yota services. The Internet is Megafon's weakest point. It provides two options:
- You come to terms with low speed, crawling through the Internet at a snail's pace.
- You pay decent money and get comfortable access.
Yota promised unlimited Internet, and at good speed too.
All operations to activate a SIM card, select a tariff plan and other manipulations are carried out through an official application installed on a smartphone. Here you can see the balance and balances of the package. Tariff conditions can be easily changed; again, it is possible to contact technical support.
Separately, I would like to note that the customer support staff are as correct as possible, respond adequately to questions and answer very quickly. There is no need to hang on the line for hours to wait for the operator to answer. For this I give this a big plus, they are very comfortable.
What can I say about the tariffs? The basic tariff, designed for a smartphone, included unlimited Internet and a package of minutes. The cost of the Internet was 150 rubles per month, and the minimum package of minutes cost 80 rubles (100 min). Interestingly, if the minutes are exhausted, and for some reason you have not purchased more, then automatic charging is activated at one and a half rubles per minute.
In my opinion, the gradation of 100 minutes is not very convenient. 100 is not enough for me, and 300 is too much.
The SMS option is presented in two versions:
- One message for 1.5 rubles
- Unlimited package priced at 50 rubles. But to what extent it has no boundaries, I don’t know. I saw reviews on the forums that after hundreds of messages the option is disabled for spam.
The sad side of Yota is that a SIM card intended for a specific device cannot be used in another. Let's say a SIM card for a smartphone, you won't be able to plug it into a tablet. I tried it, as soon as I inserted it, the access point disappeared. You can connect joint tariffs, but their conditions are so-so.
So, as soon as I received the Yotov SIM card and installed it in my smartphone, I ran into a problem. The test period includes Internet and conversation minutes, but SMS is not included. It's funny that to activate the iMessage option you need to send an SMS. In this regard, I had to deposit 10 rubles into my account to activate the ability to send messages. It’s a small thing, but the residue remains. Let's move on...
After talking with the courier, when concluding the contract, I managed to find out that at that moment Yota was using Megafon stations. It followed from this that problems with communication quality could not be avoided. I quickly became convinced of this when I was driving home. Internet access disappeared on exactly the same section of the road as with Megafon. Of course it's a disaster, but it gets more interesting.
For me, the most acceptable Internet option has always been the 3G network. This speed is enough for me, and the battery does not drain very quickly. Here a rather serious problem surfaced. Returning home to my native wi-fi, I received tons of messages on all networks WhatsApp, Viber and so on. As it turned out, my Internet, as they say, fell off. Due to the fact that that day I had no time to communicate on social networks, and I did not notice anything.
Rebooting didn't help. I had to reset my network settings and do everything again. The problem was solved for a while. But soon a problem arose again with loading pages, and the Internet disappeared again.
I tried everything: I rebooted, changed settings, and reflashed the phone. This was not a result. I wrote to technical support. The employee advised me to switch the network selection from automatic to manual. The offer didn't help. 3G Internet keeps dropping out. As a result of this, I am forced to use a 2G or LTE network. The latter is a different story.
When I turn on LTE, I receive a warning saying that I use this network at my own risk, since Apple has not certified it. Next, I press the power button no matter what and I get the Internet at excellent speed. You might think why would I complain. The Internet “flies”, everything works, videos play perfectly, the picture is super, life is just good.
Here are some problems to note:
- The battery charge drains instantly. Even Megafon's LTE was not so harsh on the battery. For this reason, I only leave the house with a charger and an external battery.
- The second jamb is cooler than the previous one. When connecting to LTE, the normal connection falls off. It turns out that either I surf the Internet and have an excellent signal, but cannot call anyone, or I choose live communication. When trying to call me when I am on the LTE network, the subscriber hears that I am out of range.
I won’t be unfair to Yota, I had the same problem on Megafon. I read reviews on the situation on various forums. They say that the problem with LTE is present in all operators. I can’t say for sure, since I haven’t used either MTS or Beeline.
As a result, the only working way to access the Internet remains the 2G network. And there is Internet and there are no problems with communication. But you have to forget about high speed.
In the end, I can say that, in my opinion, there are enough pros and cons. But I am interested in unlimited Internet, so I remain a Yota client. It is quite difficult to turn a blind eye to the negative aspects of the provider. For this reason, I don’t give up Megafon and I solved the problem for myself in a not very comfortable way: I walk around with two phones. That's another pleasure. So I can’t recommend Yota in my review. In addition, if you are planning to purchase a SIM card to receive unlimited Internet, then be prepared, modern tariffs do not provide this opportunity. Gigabytes to calculate.
I hope my experience will help someone. Thanks everyone for your attention.
Feedback on the benefits:
- The Internet is actually unlimited, I still use an outdated tariff. No problems so far. In principle, even with poor network coverage, 7 megabits can be received quite reliably.
- Calls on the Yota operator network are free.
- No roaming in Russia. I'm going to another city, there's no need to reconnect anything. All conditions remain the same.
- Call anywhere in the country at a single price.
- Tariff management is quite simple, using the official application. Everything is as transparent and understandable as possible.
- It’s hard to find fault with the technical support service; the guys are adequate and try to help. If this is possible of course.
Feedback on the shortcomings:
- The Yota operator, so to speak, the “daughter” of Megafon, accordingly takes over the jambs.
- The Internet drops off on a 3G network.
- Packs of minutes are not very convenient. But that might just be for me.
- The cost of SMS and communication minutes outside the package is quite high.
- You cannot use your phone as a hotspot. You will have to incur additional financial costs for this.
- The battery drains quickly.
No. 2 – MTS
The red-and-white operator, which lures subscribers with commercials featuring Dmitry Nagiyev, takes second place in the national anti-rating. The main complaint of people is that the actual Internet speed does not match the advertised speed.
In addition, MTS employees follow the example of their Swedish colleagues and often connect paid services to their subscribers. Well, the support service, if you believe the reviews, is simply terrible. Sometimes, in order to connect with a live person, you have to hang on the wire for 15 minutes.
Internet
Review 1, Natalya Gronskaya, Yota operator, Novosibirsk
Hello. I met this operator a little over a year ago. Then I was in search of unlimited Internet, which would be provided at an affordable price. I read a lot of reviews on the Internet and had to read a lot of opinions. The last straw that caused my switch to Yota was my operator connecting me to an additional 500MB Internet traffic package. Moreover, this action did not occur on my initiative. I came to Yota after reading the same reviews.
So, what did I get by spending 290 rubles on a monthly subscription fee:
- Unlimited Internet for your smartphone, throughout Russia.
- 400 minutes for communication with interlocutors of any operators (without roaming).
It is important to mention the fact that I live in the city of Novosibirsk. 4G communication is at a very high level. As a result, I can confidently say that I have no complaints about unlimited Internet. Regardless of how many GB I download over the course of a month, I have no problems with speed. Yota, contrary to many reviews that I have seen, does not slow down the speed.
I should also talk about my trip to another city. It seemed not far from Novosibirsk, but the 4G network was much worse, by and large we can say that it did not exist. I don’t mention the locality itself so that my review doesn’t mislead, perhaps I was the only one with a problem.
However, at that moment I started writing to technical support about problems with the Internet. After a month of my stay in the city “N”, the problem of weak Internet disappeared. The smartphone started showing all the 4G access bars, maybe this is a coincidence, I don’t know for sure.
What can you say about the technical support service? The employees are understanding, you can immediately feel that they want and are trying to help. The disadvantage is that communication with support is only available in the form of chat in the official application. But this is not so scary, because when I tried to address my problems to MTS, I had to wait 20 minutes until the operator deigned to enter into a dialogue with me.
Yes, of course, at present it is impossible to find a provider with an unlimited Internet tariff. The same is the case with Yota. But the old SIM card still works on the old package. When my friends ask me to give them a review about Yota, I confidently recommend switching. The operator provides huge advantages:
Tariff conditions are transparent, no surprises after connection.
To put it bluntly, connecting yourself to an unnecessary service is unrealistic.
Feedback on the benefits:
Relatively low price for the Internet and minutes of communication, throughout the country. 100 points for technical support. Responsive guys.
Feedback on the shortcomings:
Unfortunately, it is currently impossible to connect to unlimited Internet. But even the three generally accepted leaders cannot boast of this.
Review 2, Sergey Molyarov, Yota operator, Moscow
Before giving my review about the Yota mobile operator, I want to pay some attention to other providers. I tried many services - Tele2, MTS, Beeline and Megafon. What would I like to say about the titans of the cellular communications market?
- Beeline, to put it mildly, is not encouraging - the prices are simply sky-high.
- MTS overcame me with the imposition of additional services, parted ways with them not very nicely and I don’t regret it.
- Megafon has simply become insolent and is not going to come to his senses. For the Internet, they rip off everything, just like in the dashing 90s.
Now I turn directly to the young Yota. What the provider was able to achieve in such a short period of work cannot but rejoice. The 3G network holds up quite confidently. There are some problems with covering villages. But here the point is precisely in the youth of the company, I think the problem will soon be solved.
What I want to say regarding the reviews I saw about Eta mobile communications on the Internet, I’m simply surprised by people’s demands. The majority want to be given super speed for a pittance of 240 rubles, so that the Internet can “fly”. In my opinion, this is arrogance. If there is a need for increased speed, then adjust the tariff and be happy.
I think so, I’m sure I’m not the only one, that most of the negative reviews are the work of employees of other providers. Which set only one goal for themselves, to stipulate, perhaps, the best cellular operator today. Thanks to all!
Feedback on the benefits:
Good high-speed Internet, excellent connection, price matches the quality.
Feedback on the shortcomings:
It doesn't get 4G everywhere, that's not a problem. I think with the development of Yota, this drawback will be resolved.
Review 3, Sofia Prokopova, Yota operator, St. Petersburg
I actively used the Internet from Yota and called exclusively to my husband. For a long time this operator was our family one.
There were no complaints about the Internet, the pages loaded perfectly, sending photos, watching videos, everything was at the highest level. I can’t say about the exact speed, I haven’t measured it.
Let me clarify right away that the SIM cards were purchased in the Irkutsk region. And while we were there, there were no complaints about Yota. The tariff was standard. For 250 rubles, 100 minutes of communication and internet without restrictions.
Friendship with Yota came to an end when we moved from Siberia to St. Petersburg. Unexpectedly for me, the operator charged me a tariff of 700 rubles (roaming). I went to the point of sale to find out the reason. As they explained to me, the reason is that I left my home region. And communication without roaming is available for up to 3 months. The key point here is “BEFORE”. Because it was turned off for me almost immediately.
I had to give up Yota. The operator has become too expensive for me. It’s a pity, because these were many years together).
Feedback on the benefits:
Free communication via the Yota operator network, Excellent Internet. Friendly technical support.
Feedback on the shortcomings:
Tariffs in Moscow and St. Petersburg are more expensive than in the region.
Services and options
Let's look at additional services and options that can be used on smartphones. At the moment they can be listed as follows:
- "Pay later." An excellent analogue of a trust or promised payment from other operators. If there are no funds in your account by the day the subscription fee is charged, you can use this option. Access to services will be restored for 7 days. However, you must deposit funds for this period. Otherwise the balance will become negative. The cost of the option depends on how much money is missing to pay for the tariff plan;
- Change of number. The first time is free, then for 100 rubles. Do not use more often than once every 3 months;
- Call forwarding (enabled by default);
- Call me. An excellent opportunity to call a person if there are no funds on your balance;
- I am online. Sends an alert to anyone who called you while your phone was turned off or out of network coverage;
- I called. The same option as the previous one, but it works in the opposite direction;
- Who called. You will receive notifications about all numbers that called you while the phone was turned off;
- Missed call. Similar option;
- Conference call. Allows you to organize general calls for 2 or more subscribers;
- Mobile payment. Used to pay for various services and goods from company partners;
- Internet distribution to other devices. Free if you have a gigabyte package and not unlimited internet. Otherwise, you must pay 50, 150 or 350 rubles for 2, 24 hours or 30 days, respectively.
From tablet
Review 1, Svetlana Zelenskaya, Yota operator, Klin city
Hello ladies and gentlemen. I want to share that with a huge concentration of towers, even within the boundaries of a large city, there are places where the signal is zero. For example, in my apartment (in the city) you need to stand almost right next to the window to catch a signal. The funny thing is that this situation does not cover the entire area of the home. In half of the rooms everything is fine with communication, in the rest it’s a disaster. There are no problems at all in the hallway or kitchen. But I work using a tablet mainly in the hall, and there is practically no signal there. But what to do.
As we all understand, in a big city, at least there is a choice among telecom operators. I spend part of the year at my dacha, which is located in the region. Here the situation with choice is much worse. What I haven’t tried: MTS, Beeline, Megafon. I was able to achieve some success only with Yota. The house has two floors, on the first floor the connection is rather weak. But not particularly critical. The second situation is much better. And in general, outside the city, you can always work, located in the forest, on the river bank - and there are no problems with communication.
One summer I went to the south (the resort town of Anapa). My stay there was quite long. In the first month of residence, the connection was paid in advance and no questions or problems arose. By the second month I encountered a not very pleasant situation. When paying locally, the operator asked for a larger amount of 200 rubles to pay for the package, I don’t know why.
Thus, the second month of stay was somewhat more expensive in relation to communications. When the time came for the next payment, I was already heading towards the house. I didn’t pay right away, I decided to wait until I crossed the roaming border. After recognizing the home network and the required payment, it was reduced to the one that was set before going on vacation.
My sister told me that she did not encounter any increased payment during her trip. To be fair, it should be noted that she paid for it in advance.
Separately, in Anapa, I can say that there were no problems with network coverage either on the beach, or in the hotel, or on the street. The situations on the train were different. I watched the video quite calmly, almost the entire way.
Feedback on the benefits:
Good speed. It is possible to choose the Yota payment method. Automatic replenishment from a bank card.
Feedback on the shortcomings:
Frequent maintenance work, there are blind spots.

Advantages and disadvantages
For those who still doubt the profitability and usefulness of Yota’s offer for smartphones, we invite you to consider the list of its advantages and disadvantages.
pros
As usual, it’s worth starting with the pros:
- The user can configure the volume of services himself;
- Availability of a special mobile program for managing your services;
- Availability of a package of unlimited messages;
- Lots of additional options. Both free and for a fee;
- If the packages run out, you can buy more;
- Relatively low cost, including unlimited Internet;
- Cell towers are used for communication.
Minuses
As for the cons:
- Not all Russian cities have a good signal;
- In small towns, it is quite difficult to find a sales office that provides the necessary services (for example, filing applications).
ROAMING
Using yota mobile communications, you don’t have to worry about roaming. If you connect to the network in Moscow, then when traveling around Russia you can completely forget about such a thing as roaming. The cost of services will not change in any way.
If you are going to another country, then the tariffs and cost of services can be clarified below:

Special conditions in some regions
In some regions of Russia, due to certain factors, special conditions for mobile services apply. First of all, this concerns the cost of calls, messages and the Internet. This applies to the following locations:
- Chukotka region;
- Crimea;
- City of Sevastopol.
The list of conditions is as follows:
- Incoming calls are free;
- Outgoing calls - 2.5 rubles per minute;
- Incoming messages are free;
- Outgoing messages - 2.5 rubles per SMS/MMS;
- 1 Megabyte of Internet traffic - 2.5 rubles (money is debited for every 100 Kilobytes);
- High connection speeds are not guaranteed in all regional locations. It can “drop” to 64 Kbps.
