What is mobile communication like?

The generation of wireless mobile networks is responsible for the speed of data processing over the Internet: 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G, which is not yet available in Ukraine.

2G dates back to 1991, the place of origin was Finland. This communication standard, which put an end to the 1G analog network, was a breakthrough in its own way. Cellular operators have the opportunity to provide their customers with services for transmitting short messages (SMS) and multimedia messages with pictures and melodies (MMS).

Also, a big plus was the security of 2G - all messages were encrypted, which made them visible only to the sender and recipient.

The data transfer speed was ridiculous by today's standards - up to 19.5 kBit/s. And in some places the signal was so bad that it didn't even show that.

2G has evolved into 2.5G – GPRS. The data transfer rate has increased to 115 kbit/s.

Then there was 2.75G - EDGE. The speed reached 400 kbit/s.

After 2008, a new standard was born - 3G. It was positioned as a new technology capable of providing fast Internet.

In part, this was true: compared to 2.7G, the data transfer speed reached about 2048 Kbps.

For tourists they have updated their "Vodafone Holiday" package, now also rather awkwardly called the "newcomers package for tourists". It sells for 105 TL and comes with 10GB data, 300 local minutes and 30 international minutes, all valid for 90 days. This could be a good option if that's what you need. You can add more data in two packages:

• 6 GB for 1 month: 50 TL - to activate text: “ABONE 1AY6GB” up to 3636
• 12 GB for 3 months: 80 TL – for activation text “ABONE 3AY12GB” up to 3636

Customers purchasing a Vodafone Holiday cannot change their pricing plan or add Passes. Only foreigners with a valid non-Turkish passport can purchase this fare. A maximum of 3 activated lines can be activated for a foreigner.

Commission

The amount of additional commission fees for withdrawing funds from a mobile account for different methods is:

If you have an old SIM card, you need to change it to USIM. To do this, you can go to any Vodafone store; the replacement will not take more than 15 minutes.
