What is a satellite transponder, current frequency table

System/design installed on a satellite that guarantees integration and

The relay of the satellite signal is called a transponder.

The device sends a signal in response to the received one.

Such a system makes it possible to broadcast a number of different multiplexes from any satellite and provide a wide range of services.

There are two types of satellite transponders: regenerative transponders and curved tube transponders.

Commonly, everyone is accustomed to calling the frequencies that are broadcast from a satellite a transponder, although, in fact, it is a device that broadcasts at this specific frequency.

Bent Pipe Transponders

This kind of transponder takes over the microwave spectrum signal. It reorganizes the input signal frequency into the RF frequency and then increases it.

Such a device is suitable for relaying both analog and digital signals.

The signal is transmitted from the satellite through several transponders

Principle of operation

A satellite transponder is a set of components installed on a satellite, which is designed to automatically receive and transmit a signal at a certain frequency. Resembles a satellite component equipped with antennas.

Any satellite is equipped with a certain number of satellites broadcasting in one frequency spectrum or another.

Due to the introduction of this broadcasting technology, the number of satellite channels on one satellite has increased by an order of magnitude; it is possible to broadcast about a thousand channels from one orbital position.

The principle of operation of a satellite transponder is the following - a satellite TV signal, which is concentrated on the transponder antenna, and due to its dish-shaped shape, is reproduced as if from a mirror to a specific target - the user's receiving dish, which transmits the signal to the receiver, which converts it into one readable by the TV.

The main components of the transponder include:

  • antenna for receiving a signal - the main device for receiving a relayed signal;
  • power amplifier – amplifies the power of the received signal to a sufficient level;
  • duplexer (frequency separation filter) - a device designed to organize duplex radio communications using one common antenna for both receiving and transmitting a signal;
  • control processor – selection and change of signal frequency.

Checking the signal using a set-top box

Fine-tuning the position of the deflector without a device is done by a couple of people. To control the reception parameters, you should launch the “Antenna setup” item from the set-top box menu. In this case, two indicators are displayed at the bottom of the screen, describing the strength and quality of the signal.

One person monitors the reception indicators. The second, having loosened the antenna mounting bolts, gradually turns it from side to side and tilts it vertically. After each minor shift, you need to pause for up to 5 seconds so that the set-top box has time to track the changes and display them on the reception indicators. The person monitoring the readings commands the adjustment process.

After it has been possible to achieve maximum levels of signal quality and strength, the antenna unit is rigidly fixed by clamping the mounting bolts on the bracket.

Transponders for satellite channels for free viewing of satellite TV in 2021

There are satellite TV channels that you can watch for free, and there are channels that are locked with a static BISS key. Channels in BISS encryption can be freely opened using the internal receiver emulator. In both cases, you need to have an up-to-date table of frequencies and transponders on hand to set up satellite television.

Below is an up-to-date table of transponders, an encoding option, frequency, and a closed or free transponder is indicated.

Setting up the broadcast

Let's say we've decided on a satellite. For example, this is Eutelsat 36B, 36.0E.

It is necessary to set up a satellite dish and catch a signal, determine the quality of the signal.

The signal quality is checked on the TV device

For details on how to install a satellite dish and set up satellite TV, follow the link.

The first column is “Frequency” - we can take the required frequency from the table of transponders and frequencies.

Initially, you need to understand which spectrum this frequency belongs to. We enter the required one using the remote control.

The type of polarization is placed in the same column (letter next to it). Vertical or horizontal (“H”, “V”). All modern receivers support almost all types of polarization.

The second column is “Speed/SR”. This column contains data - SR (symbol rate) and FEC (error correction).

SR – This value is equal to what symbol rate your receiver supports. But modern satellite receivers support all types of this parameter, and therefore this parameter can be skipped.

FEC – when using modern satellite set-top boxes, this parameter can also be skipped.

The third column “Channel name” is the name of the satellite channel, the signal of which is broadcast from a specific transponder. For example, the name of a television or radio channel, or the name of an Internet service.

The fourth column is “BISS/ID”. The type of encoding and its presence/absence is indicated by this field.

In other words, if the transponder has some kind of encoding, it means that this service is paid.

To configure satellite equipment in modern realities, you need to know three values - frequency, type of polarization, type of encoding.

Where can I find current frequencies and transponders for satellite channels? The current ones at the moment (mid-2021) are above and below in the text, but if you need the latest ones, then there are two options.

From printed publications on the desired topic, or on the Internet.

If the first option is more suitable, for example, for village residents, then you need to check that the magazine is as recent as possible, because satellite channels change frequencies and transponders from time to time.

On the Internet, just type in the following query: “table of satellite transponders.”

How to find a satellite?

Most of the questions are related to finding an MTS TV satellite. Despite the availability of accurate information, it is unlikely to be found by eye. As a rule, to determine the location, a special device is used, which is available to the installers. It has a high price, so there is no point in buying it for a one-time setup. If your goal is to set up satellite MTS TV yourself, you can use an available option to get the job done - an application for your phone or tablet, special services, or a more affordable device. After obtaining the exact angles, all that remains is to install the plate in its original place.

Programs

To see the direction of the satellite on the map to set up MTS TV, you can use one of the available applications. They are produced for different OS - Android and iOS. They can be downloaded from the app store completely free of charge. Let's highlight the main programs that are in greatest demand.

SatFinder

SatFinder is a popular application that the company itself offers. With its help, you can find out where the MTS TV satellite is located and perform the correct setup. There are two versions of the application available to users - for Android and iOS.

When downloading the program, you need to be careful, because against the backdrop of its popularity, many crafts have appeared. Some developers change one or two letters in the name, add symbols, and then provide the program as an already known product.

The advantage of the software is that it is free and has a simple interface. With its help, you can easily find a satellite and even select another option (if such an option is provided by the operator). To make precise adjustments, you must have a tablet or smartphone with a large display. You also need to enable the GPS function so that the software can determine the client's location.

To use the program, follow these steps:

  • Download SatFinder software.
  • Log in to the app and hold your phone upright.
  • Wait for the system to determine the location.
  • Go to the menu and indicate from which satellite MTS TV is broadcasting. In our case it is ABS-2A.
  • Follow the instructions of the program, which will give you directions and help you set up MTS TV. In this case, the exact coordinates are indicated.

Yellow arrows are provided for ease of orientation. They show where you need to move the phone until it is pointed at the satellite. When the direction is correct, the arrows turn green. At the same time, a sound signal appears. The next step is to point the plate in the indicated direction and make sure the quality of the TV program display.

Dishpointer Pro

Dishpointer Pro is another well-known software that allows you to find a satellite and point a dish at it. The principle of operation here is similar to the program discussed above, so there is no point in dwelling on this issue in more detail.

The main feature is a clearer depiction of satellites on the display. In addition, the application works well through GPS and mobile data, which increases the accuracy of the determination and allows you to work in areas where there is a poor GPS signal.

Satellite signal coverage from MTS TV

A brief summary on setting up satellite television from MTS:

  • Fix the antenna included in the kit on the wall of the building so that the heads are located at the required angle to the transponder.
  • Place the clamp so that the plate is at an angle of 30° to the horizontal.
  • The azimuth of the “antenna” tilt must be set to the vertical by 1°.
  • Place the plate at a 137° angle.
  • Turn on the TV and check the signal quality.
  • If the required quality is not available, you need to rotate the antenna 1 degree and check the signal quality at each step.
  • If you received the “TV from MTS” set, then the TV channels should be set up automatically.
  • If you need to set up television yourself, use the transponder data suggested above.

Detailed instructions on how to set up a satellite dish from MTS.

Why do you need to know this?

Several parameters are taken into account when determining the location. In particular, azimuth shows the angle between the direction of interest and north. It is calculated in the direction the clock hand moves. When setting, the rotation of the converter is taken into account, as well as the angle of inclination of the MTS dish itself. Another parameter is the elevation angle, which determines the angle between the direction to the satellite and the horizon. If this indicator is close to zero, the signal is not received.

Knowing the name of the MTS TV satellite and having its parameters at hand, it is easier to catch and configure the equipment for watching TV or using the Internet. The stability of the signal and its quality depend on the correctness of the available data and the clarity of the settings. In other words, knowing the location of the MTS TV satellite, you will quickly configure the necessary channels and achieve a high-quality picture. Even a slight shift left-right, up-down can lead to deterioration in signal quality or its complete loss.
