One of the most underrated smartphone features is the ability to record voice calls. While some OEMs like OnePlus, Xiaomi, and Huawei make sure to include this feature in their Android build, it is not found in Android. For me, call recording is a very important feature as it helps me save important conversations that I can refer to later. I also find it easier to discuss my ideas with colleagues over the phone, since I know that everything we found in the brain is safely stored on my phone. If for these reasons or your own you need to record calls on your Android device, there are some really good apps on the Play Store that allow you to do so:

Truecaller
Most of us know Truecaller as a caller ID application that allows us to identify unknown numbers. However, not many of us know that Truecaller also offers a call recording feature which is quite good
I am a fan of Truecaller as it not only lets me know who is calling me but also saves me from receiving spam calls.
This is why having the call recording feature included with the Truecaller app is a boon for me. How to enable call recording on Android 6, 7, 8
Starting from version 6, Android devices have a built-in call recording function. It's also present on Nougat 7 and Oreo 8 , but it's not that easy. The fact is that manufacturers often block this option, and no amount of fraud can enable it. This usually happens on budget Chinese phones; companies simply don’t want to spend time expanding functionality due to the low cost of the product.
Now let’s look at how to enable it, and at the same time check its presence on the device:
- We go to “Phone” , dial the number we need or open it from “Contacts” ;
- As soon as the call starts, click on the ellipsis image . It is usually located on the right side of the screen;
- An additional menu appears in which we select “Start recording” . Ready. Now the conversation will be continuously recorded, and to stop this, just repeat the steps described above and click “Stop recording” .

General settings
- Call recording – a setting that allows you to enable/disable automatic call recording.
- “Cloud” allows you to configure how and where to synchronize data from the application. With this setup, calls can be set to automatically download to your cloud storage account.
- The “View” tab allows you to switch the theme and change the language. Theme selection is also offered when you first launch the application.
- “Notifications” – setting up notifications and displaying information about the caller, notifications about a new call, displaying a summary of actions after the call ends.
- “Shake” is a function available only for Call Recorder Full (or Pro).

CallWrite
Callwrite is a service from Russian developers. It is intended only for iOS and in the Russian Federation.
To start working with the site, just register and receive a link to a closed App Store page.
Then install the program. To start working, you need to add it to the conversation through the “Conference” window.
As soon as the conversation ends, your smartphone will receive a text notification that the recording is complete and you can listen to it.
- All files are stored in the Callwrite root folder for only 3 days, so you will have to constantly upload files to the cloud or to your computer;

The "ask to save" feature helps reduce the number of calls saved on your phone and ensures that only those calls that are important are saved. Although it doesn't support cloud storage, it allows you to share recorded calls via Dropbox, Google, Skype, etc. The app is free to use with advertising. There is a pro version that completely removes advertising.

The essence of the problem
Since November 2021, all smartphones from Xiaomi (including Redmi and Poco) with the international version of MIUI received a Google dialer instead of the proprietary solution of the Chinese brand. This move was dictated by Google's updated privacy terms. Users did not like the new application:
- due to the minimalistic design;
- problems with displaying numbers;
- lack of function for recording telephone conversations, auto-dialing, etc.
The changes did not affect smartphones with Chinese and Indonesian versions of MIYUAI firmware.

You never know when the moment will come when you will curse yourself for not having a call recording feature on your smartphone. Step-by-step instruction
Step 1. Install RealTerm and USB Drivers on your computer.
Step 2. Unzip ODIN.
Step 3. Download the correct version of Combination File, checking the bootloader version is not lower than what is currently on your smartphone. You can do this on the BoxWares Shell website.
Step 4. In the first field, write the model number, which can be found in the “Settings” - “Phone information” - “Model number” section.
Step 5. On the right in the list, select “Combination” and click “Search”.
Step 6. Choose the correct bootloader version. You can view the bootloader version in the “Settings” – “Phone information” – “Software information” – “Firmware version” section. The bootloader version is the fifth digit in the firmware version. In the case of the Galaxy S9 example, this is 2.
Step 7. Download the firmware for your smartphone model from the 4PDA forum or on the SAMFREW website. The firmware must also have the same bootloader version as the Combination File. Download the firmware for the region to which you will change your phone.
Step 8. After downloading and unpacking, 4 files should appear with the names AP, BL CP, CSC. The HOME file is not needed.
Step 9. Launch the ODIN program and turn off the smartphone. Remove all SIM cards from the device (this is mandatory!).
Step 10. Press the “Volume Down” + “Bixby Button” + “Power Button” buttons simultaneously to put the device into flashing mode. Click “Continue” and connect the USB cable to your computer.
Step 11. In ODIN, your device should appear in the ID:COM line.
Step 12: Click AP and select Combination File.
Step 13. After adding the file, click “Start” and wait for the firmware to finish. A “PASS” notification will indicate that the installation has completed successfully. The smartphone will reboot to this screen.
Step 14 : Close ODIN and open RealTerm. Click the "Port" tab. Make sure the correct port number is specified. Select the port and click “Open” so that the CTC and DSR indicators on the side light up green and the USB item becomes green.
Step 15: Go to the “Send” tab. Enter the command AT+PRECONFG=2,INS. INS is the region of India. To change the region, click the “as ASCII” button. Now turn off the phone by holding down the power button and put the device into firmware mode without removing the USB.
Step 16 : Launch Odin. The port should be displayed on ID:COM. Now assign the desired file to each button.
Step 17. In the “Options” section, make sure that the “Auto Reboot” and “F.Reset Time” parameters are selected. Press start and wait for the firmware to finish.
Step 18: Your device will reboot and the home screen will appear as if you just took it out of the box. Go through all the initial activation steps and then install the SIM card. It is possible without turning off the device.
Step 19. After detecting the SIM provider, the smartphone will prompt you to reboot so that all the benefits of the mobile operator are activated. Agree. To enable conversation recording, go to “Phone” – “Settings” – “Call recording”.
Done, the function works without root and loss of warranty.
