What is GPON technology

Connection
If you want to get access to the Internet using GPON technology, you will have to perform the following steps:
- Select a tariff.
- Submit an application to connect the service using one of the following methods:
- call the Contact Center number –6;
- leave a request on the company’s official website – mgts.ru;
- visit the MGTS Customer Service Center.
- Within 72 hours from the moment you submit your application, an operator will call you back to clarify a convenient date during which free installation of the equipment will be carried out.
The optical modem is installed in accordance with the standard design. It involves placing a router and a 220V socket above the front door on the inside of the apartment. To do this, a specialist will drill several holes in the wall to lay the power cable, fiber optic wire and fix the device holder.
You can use the Internet both via Wi-Fi and through an additional cord connected to the ONT terminal. Digital TV and telephone are connected to the router exclusively via wires. There are exceptions, but then you will have to purchase PLC transmitters separately.
After installing fiber optics, the landline number will remain the same, but at the same time your ADSL will be turned off, as well as the alarm system that operates from a standard telephone line. Therefore, before making a choice in favor of Gipon, it is recommended to discuss all possible risks with the company that services your security system. If, of course, there is one.
Gipon tariffs from MGTS
Currently, GPON technology is used by MGTS in two main directions:
- fiber optic internet connection;
- digital television Internet broadcasting.
Gipon home internet itself is a separate line of tariff plans. Offers differ solely on the speed of the received signals. The price category of the tariff plan will change based on this difference:
- tariff for 200 Mb/s with a subscription fee of 499 rubles per month;
- for 350 Mb/s the user will have to pay a monthly amount equal to 699 rubles;
- 500 Mb/s for which you will have to pay with a payment of 999 rubles per month;
- 1000 Mb/s will cost a monthly subscription fee equal to 1,499 rubles.
In addition to the basic GPON tariffs for MGTS subscribers, daily tariffs for Internet traffic are available:
- 10 MB per second for 20 rubles per day;
- for 30 Mbit/s you will have to pay 25 rubles per day;
- The daily payment for 50 Mb/s will be 30 rubles.
However, daily tariffing is available only to users who already have a telephony connection from MGTS.
Payment for Internet connection is taken from the user’s single personal account. That is, an MGTS subscriber has a common balance for all telecommunications services connected to him. If the required amount is not available in the personal account, the client can use the “Pay later” function. With this option, the subscription fee is transferred to the next 20 days.
Internet speed check
It is not difficult even for a novice PC user to check the speed stated by MGTS with a real Internet connection via GPON. To do this, just go to the online resource Speedtest.net and click on the “Start testing” button. In a few seconds you will receive information about the speed of received and sent data. If it differs significantly from what the provider promised you, then you can safely demand compensation for the inconvenience.

Digital TV GPON

Internet setup
