Russia's largest operator, Beeline, regularly updates its tariff plans - closing existing ones and opening new ones. In December 2017, Highway Internet packages (prepaid) and the “Internet for a day” option were no longer available for connection in almost all regions.
A new offer from the operator is the “Gigabyte” tariff plan, which will suit many mobile network users. Who can access the tariff, how to switch to it, how much it costs and what is included in it - this is what our new review is about.
Tariff "Gigabyte"
The name of this offer may indicate that this is only a separate option or traffic quota. In fact, this is a full-fledged tariff . It offers the user access to the network while traveling around the country, as well as while in the home region. The service has several advantages that you should pay attention to first:
- the need to pay only when using a tariff plan (if it is idle, it is not necessary to pay an AP);
- no traffic limit for modern devices;
- maximum Internet speed (if there are limitations, they are limited solely to the quality of coverage or equipment characteristics).
Who can use it?
Everyone will be able to buy a SIM card with the new “Gigabyte” tariff plan or switch to this tariff plan. “Gigabyte” is not an additional option, but a full-fledged tariff with prices for all communication services.
How can I use the Gigabyte tariff? The tariff plan can be used on any device – smartphones, modems, tablet computers. Although, initially the tariff plan was positioned as a “Tariff for tablets” and the company planned to ensure its functioning only on such devices, later it was decided to make a tariff adapted to any devices.
Description, subscription fee
There is no subscription fee as such for this offer. If you need to call phones whose subscribers are connected to other networks, you can get information about the cost of calls on the company's website. To do this, on the page dedicated to this issue, you need to select the region to which the call will be addressed, the “Gigabyte” tariff and click on the print cost button. And once again according to the prices within the tariff framework:

- mobile Internet traffic – 1 GB;
- calls and SMS are not available (provided for an additional fee).
How to disable the tariff and additional traffic?
Is it possible to disable additional and automatically connected 1 GB Internet packages and how to disable the tariff itself if it no longer suits you? There are two ways to disable the tariff completely:
- By terminating the service contract with the operator.
- By changing the tariff plan in any way.
The “Gigabyte” option, unfortunately, cannot be disabled on this tariff and will be triggered automatically when the previously provided traffic volume is exhausted. The operator states that the option is the main component of the tariff plan and is inseparable from it.
You can judge for yourself how attractive the tariff plan is, but its essence is simple - access to the network for 100 rubles per 1 GB of traffic. For comparison, under the old “Highway 1 GB” option you had to pay 200 rubles per month for the same 1 GB of traffic. Only the “Highway 8 Gigabyte” option for 600 rubles per month was approximately comparable in price for traffic.
Packages of minutes and SMS
All incoming calls cost the user 0 rubles per minute. Local calls (outgoing) cost 2 rubles (to Beeline and landline numbers). Tariffing via SMS is as follows:
- 2 r. it costs to send a message to all numbers in your home region;
- outside the connection territory you will have to pay 5 rubles;
- MMS will cost 6.6 rubles. a piece.
Connecting and disconnecting
You can activate the service in three ways:
- Log in to the official website (or register if you don’t have an account yet), then go to your personal account, from there you can connect the option you are interested in.
- Download the “My Beeline” mobile application. Authorization there is automatic. From there you can also activate any service or tariff.
- Dial on your phone: 0674100512 or ussd command *110*0512#.
You can disable the tariff using your personal account or mobile application. By activating another package that is incompatible with “Gigabyte”, it will be deactivated automatically.
Long distance communication and roaming
Long distance service costs even more. For example, the price for Beeline numbers is 5 rubles, while outgoing calls to phones of other operators cost the subscriber 12 rubles. International calls are charged as follows:
- 30 rub. per minute of conversation for CIS countries;
- 50 rub. to make calls to Europe, Canada and the USA, as well as to some Southeast Asian countries - China, Vietnam;
- Outgoing calls to other countries cost 80 rubles.
When traveling within Russia, calls cost 2 rubles. within the region, and outside it - 5 rubles.
Filling the tariff plan
Let's make a brief description of the new “Gigabyte” tariff from Beeline. Here are its key features:
- There is no subscription fee.
- The cost of 1 GB of Internet traffic is 100 rubles.
- The cost of calls within Moscow and the Moscow region is 2 rubles/min.
- Intercity - at basic Beeline prices.
- Sending SMS within the region – 2 rubles/pcs.
- Sending SMS within Russia – 5 rubles/piece.
- Sending MMS within Russia – 6.6 rubles/piece.
The allocated traffic package is available for a month. As soon as it ends and the network detects an Internet connection, the subscriber will be given another gigabyte - its cost will be 100 rubles. If, after a month has passed from the date of provision of the previous package, the subscriber does not go online, the new package will not be activated.
You can spend gigabytes from Beeline at least every day - more and more new packages will be automatically activated on the tariff. There are no restrictions on their number, which is already a big plus. And a connection is available for navigators and mapping services - an excellent solution for travelers for 3 rubles/day. By the way, the geography of the Beeline tariff is all over Russia.
It is not available on the “Gigabyte” tariff from Beeline, so you can safely forget about unlimited traffic for social networks and music services. But there are no speed limits.
“Gigabyte” connection (methods)
The transition to this tariff offer is free if it has not changed over the past days. Connection to this tariff option is available using the following methods:
- dial command *110*0512#;
- using the subscriber’s personal account on the organization’s web resource;
- making a call to phone number 0674100512;
- purchasing a new SIM card at a mobile phone store or in a virtual store.
As you can see, there are plenty of ways to activate the service. The most conservative option is to contact the communications office in person. If you want to act remotely and resolve the issue without getting up from the couch, you can use a USSD combination or a personal user account. If you want to get advice, you should call the company's phone number.
Cost control
In this case, the user himself has to exercise control over how the traffic on the mobile device is used without outside help from the provider. There are two simple ways to make the task easier:
- Try not to leave more money in your account than you can afford to spend in a month;
- You can independently set up certain restrictions on Internet traffic consumption on your mobile device. Almost all models of modern devices make it possible to carry out similar actions. This tariff plan by default includes a service called “Gigabyte”. With its help, a subscriber can count on receiving 1 GB of traffic for only 100 rubles, and this can be done an unlimited number of times. The period of operation of each tariff package is one month. If the limit is exhausted early, the next package is issued automatically. Traffic restrictions do not apply to maps and navigators. Options for speed extension, “HIGHWAY” and other similar services are not available for connection.

But 1 Gigabyte on the tariff is a rather arbitrary figure. After all, by default it has the “Gigabyte” option enabled. What is offered as part of the option?
