Today in Russia, among more than a hundred registered cellular operators, there are three companies with the largest number of subscribers: Beeline, MTS and Megafon . Other mobile operators have a significantly smaller number of users and are often represented only in certain regions of the Russian Federation. In addition to the so-called “Big Three”, we can highlight such operators as Tele2, Smarts, Rostelecom and Yota , which stand out from the mass of other operators, but still do not reach the leaders.
What is a cell phone number?
Based on the telephone numbering plan, the codes of Russian cellular operators look like a three-digit number that starts with nine. Next comes the number itself, which belongs to the subscriber, consisting of seven digits: 9 xx xxx-xx-xx. Or the international format that is more familiar to us: +7 9хх xxx-xx-xx. Russian mobile operator codes are non-geographic telephone codes or, in other words, def-codes . Cellular companies are allocated one or more telephone codes within which they can distribute numbers to their subscribers.
Not so long ago, you could be sure that if you received a call from a number that begins, for example, with +7 92..., then such a number belongs to Megafon. However, the system, which made it possible to switch from one operator to another while maintaining the number, made it difficult to determine whether a number belonged to a specific operator. Now the table of mobile operator codes may no longer be relevant, because the number, for example, with the Megafon code, may already belong to another operator. However, it must be said that a small percentage of subscribers have so far used the service of switching between operators, so in most cases it is still possible to determine the operator and region by number.
The fastest way
Using a combination of numbers, you can determine which mobile operator the number belongs to, as well as find out the region.
You can find out in just a few seconds in which region of Russia or country a phone number is registered using specialized websites online. You only need to enter a combination of numbers into the search window and click the “Find” or “Define” button.
There are many similar sites. Among them, those that provide the maximum available data are recommended, i.e. not only a region in Russia or a country, but also a city, the name of the mobile operator.
Among these services:
- spravportal.ru;
- tele-house.ru;
- kody.su;
- protarif.info.
The procedure for identifying a number via the Internet
When determining, it is worth paying attention to the fact that not so long ago it became possible to switch to another operator without changing the number. If he was, for example, a Megafon subscriber, upon entering the information, the system will also indicate that he belongs to Megafon.
The Internet is used for various purposes. And one of them is the ability to use verification services. To use it and get an answer to the required question, you should follow the following algorithm:
- log in to the required portal. Simply enter the query “check operator by number” in the search bar;
- Once a service is selected, the required information is entered. Typically these are the first 3 or 6 digits;
- then press the “search” key;
- The required response to the request will appear on the screen.
Sometimes it is very useful to find out the region by mobile number. Knowing who called you, you can at least save money on the subscriber’s balance. In addition, this will ensure security, since without calling back to an unfamiliar number, the person will remain protected. Use what was developed for you by professionals.
