Social and educational projects

For those who are at high risk, special courses have been organized for the older generation that will help you quickly master the skills of receiving medical advice online, teach you how to order food delivery and contact government agencies without leaving your home. The all-Russian volunteer movement MTS has already joined in supporting lonely elderly people who are having a particularly difficult time right now.

There are a lot of questions on social networks in connection with the postponement of our events for children and schoolchildren in the regions. As you know, we are developing our social projects in parallel online and offline. As soon as the opportunity arises, concerts, master classes and other social activities will resume work in an offline format. To date, all our projects continue to operate in an online format, we are carrying out all planned events.

For school-aged children who have a lot of free time due to forced holidays, you can help make the most of their time in isolation and devote it to learning new creative skills. Without leaving home, children can participate in master classes by leading artists and Russian stars of the first magnitude on the website of the MTS social and charitable project “Generation M”. See how many interesting online activities that can help support your children's creative potential are available today on the project website.

In addition, our Smart University team has developed online intensive courses for high school students, and they will be available for free. The program consists of eight webinars in mathematics and the Russian language, 12 webinars in English and also includes homework for all students. In addition, students in grades 5–11 can practice English for free in Smart University conversation clubs.

We continue to look for opportunities to make your life in new conditions easier and more interesting.

Increased network loads

We really see a significant increase in the load on the network and, above all, an increase in traffic when using the home Internet in large cities and especially in Moscow, where traffic on fixed networks increased by 30%. In Moscow, MTS, represented by its subsidiary MGTS, is the largest fixed-line access provider. Based on the most powerful and modern network based on GPON technology, we provide home Internet and TV to the vast majority of households. And we continue to expand the capacity of our network and prepare it for further growth in loads. At the same time, in certain territories, traffic is growing so intensely that our specialists may need additional time to set up. Please be patient. Everything will be fine.

We also see serious changes in the structure of mobile Internet traffic consumption. The reason is that our movements and habits are changing. As a result, the load on the infrastructure also changes. For example, in large cities in residential areas on a weekday we see volumes of traffic that were previously typical for weekends or holidays. At the same time, we manage to maintain the highest standards of network quality. And we continue to monitor the situation and are ready to immediately reconfigure the network in accordance with consumption patterns. But you can help us solve a local problem faster by describing it in the My MTS application in the “Communication Quality” section. We will be very grateful to you.

Data networks are a strategically important infrastructure. And despite the fact that MTS today has one of the best networks in the country and we continue to work on strengthening it in anticipation of a disproportionate increase in traffic volume, network capacity is a physically limited resource. That is why the largest streaming platforms in the world have already lowered the video quality, removing 4K and Full HD, in order to reduce the load on the networks.

I would also like to encourage you to be mindful of your online content.

This doesn't mean you have to stop watching movies online or participating in video conferences while working remotely. I’m saying that in the current situation, you can refrain, for example, from sending funny, but “heavy” videos in instant messengers to dozens of your contacts. When the number of such videos grows progressively, this creates an unnecessary but significant load on the operators’ infrastructure. Memes and good mood are important, but now we need to approach the consumption of content on networks responsibly!

A short survey among TUT.BY journalists showed: some have voice mail connected, others do not. There were also those who had previously turned it off on their own, but the service allegedly appeared again when the SIM card was replaced.

  2. If, while traveling abroad, you have to make and receive calls a lot;
  3. If you are focused on reasonable savings and always try to control your expenses;
  4. If it is important for you to remain on your number while in another country (that is, temporarily purchasing a SIM card with a local cellular operator is not an option for you).
