Everything about the cost of providing Internet to a private home

To compete with Internet providers who offer unlimited home Internet at competitive prices, mobile operators are developing special tariffs for modems and routers. Beeline was no exception. In July 2021, he introduced “Internet Pro” - a new offer that replaced the archived “Internet for Computer” tariff. Let's look at the description of the new tariff plan, figure out what content it offers, what devices it can be used in, and who will like this option.

“Internet Pro” from Beeline: tariff description

The “Internet Pro” tariff plan is designed specifically for mobile modems and routers. It includes only the Internet package - this allows you not to overpay for unnecessary services like calls and messages. As part of the tariff plan, the subscriber receives:

  • 60 GB of Internet traffic for any needs;
  • Completely unlimited Internet from 01:00 to 07:59 local time zone;
  • 155 TV channels in the Beeline TV service, provided for the entire duration of using the tariff;
  • 60 days of free subscription to the ViP Play service.

Traffic can be distributed to other devices without restrictions. It is also allowed to be used for downloading torrent files - the download speed is not reduced. If necessary, a SIM card with a tariff can be installed in a smartphone, tablet or smart device that uses Internet traffic for operation.

'Beeline tariff

In Moscow and the Moscow region, such a tariff plan is offered for 900 rubles. per month. In other regions the price is lower. The subscription fee is charged once and only if funds are available. If there is not enough money, access to the Internet and outgoing communication services is blocked until the account is replenished.

Two Gigabytes of Internet – how much?

1 Megabyte – 1024 Kilobytes, 1 Gigabyte – 1024 Megabytes.

2 Gigabytes is 2048 Megabytes or a little more than two thousand megabytes.

If you have never monitored your Internet traffic consumption, it will be difficult for you to choose a suitable mobile tariff. To find out if 2 GB of data is enough for you for a month, you need to find out how you use different types of applications on your smartphone (traffic consumption over Wi-Fi is not taken into account in this case):

  • streaming video (Netflix, Twitch, YouTube);
  • music applications (Spotify, Apple Music, BOOM);
  • social networks (Instagram, Facebook, VK);
  • messengers (WhatsApp, Telegram Snapshat);
  • mobile games and more.

Connecting additional numbers

Beeline allows you to use the “Internet Pro” tariff together with other people. You can add four additional SIM cards to the main SIM card, which may belong to you or other subscribers of the operator. All traffic within the tariff plan is divided between numbers, and no additional connection fees are charged. Thanks to this, you can save a lot on communication services. There are several restrictions for added phones:

  • The SIM card must use a prepaid payment system: that is, first the subscriber pays for communication services, and only then uses them;
  • The number must be registered in the same home region as the main SIM card.

In addition, all additional phones must belong to Beeline. If you want to connect a subscriber to another mobile operator’s tariff, he will first have to buy a new SIM card or switch to Beeline while maintaining the current number.

'How to share the Internet on a Beeline tariff

All subscribers connected to the “Internet Pro” tariff receive access to an Internet package, TV channels in the Beeline branded service and a subscription to ViP Play. You can use the same options at the same time - for example, the operator allows you to watch free movies and TV series from several devices. There are also no restrictions on unlimited internet at night. All users of the tariff plan will be able to use the network without spending traffic at the same time.

Music

Streaming music has gained great popularity and involves playing a music file online. With apps like Spotify and Apple Music, there's no need to store your entire music collection on your smartphone. This is especially convenient if the device does not have a lot of storage.

One track on streaming services weighs about 5 MB. This means that in an hour of listening to music you will use up about 80 MB of your paid data. If you are far from a music lover and listen to music no more than an hour a week, you may use about 700 MB in a month. But if listening takes more than an hour a day, using up 2 GB in a month is quite realistic.

For example, I like to listen to online radio. Many radio stations provide a similar service. If you connect to an online broadcast, minimize all windows and tabs on your gadget, and turn off the screen (so that video advertising is not broadcast), then an hour of listening to the radio will also consume no more than 40-80 MB of prepaid data, or even less.

Tip: the best thing you can do to save traffic is to download music to your device’s memory and listen to it offline. Or, by the end of the month, activate a one-time option that will add Internet traffic. This will be more profitable than shelling out decent money every month for full unlimited.

Other communication services

“Internet Pro” was designed for modems and routers, but if necessary, you can use a SIM card with a tariff for other purposes. The ability to make calls and send messages is not blocked on the tariff plan. The cost of communication services not included in the tariff is as follows:

  • Calls to all Beeline Russia numbers - 2.5 rubles. in a minute;
  • Conversations with subscribers of other operators within the home region - 2.5 rubles. in a minute;
  • Calls to any landline and cell phones throughout the country - 5 rubles. in a minute;
  • SMS messages to any subscribers in your home region - 2.5 rubles. a piece;
  • SMS messages within Russia - 5 rubles. a piece;
  • SMS messages to foreign subscribers - 8 rubles. a piece;
  • MMS messages to any numbers - 10.65 rubles. a piece;
  • Call forwarding - 3.5 rub. in a minute.

If the Internet runs out, the “Auto speed renewal” service will automatically connect. It offers 5 GB of additional traffic for 160 rubles. in Moscow and the Moscow region.

'How much do communication services cost on the Beeline tariff?

If necessary, the option can be disabled. In this case, the speed will be reduced to a minimum both during the day and at night, when unlimited should operate. You can remove the restriction using additional traffic packages.

Social media

In order to save traffic, social networking applications compress media. Twitter and Facebook use less data than Instagram or VKontakte. This is due to the fact that images appear less frequently in the feeds of the first two services.

So, it won’t take too much to quickly scroll through the Internet feed. But if you spend at least two hours on social networks every day, then you can spend 5 or 10 GB of data in a month.

For those who use social networks no more than 5 hours a week (and do not listen to streaming music or watch YouTube), 1 GB is enough for a month of such work on the Internet.

Advice: for those who like to post photos on social networks every day, it is better to switch to a tariff with 5-8 GB of data per month. For everyone else, 2 GB will be enough.

Advantages and disadvantages

Beeline's new offer has many advantages:

  • Volume traffic package. 60 GB of mobile Internet per month should be enough for almost any task. With so much traffic, you can comfortably study, work, watch videos and listen to music without restrictions.
  • Night unlimited. This option allows you to save a lot on traffic. At night, you can download movies, games and other heavy files without the risk of spending the entire monthly package at one time.;
  • Connecting additional numbers. Sharing the tariff with other subscribers allows you to save a lot. 60 GB can be divided among the whole family - this way your traffic will definitely not be burned out, and you won’t have to overpay for other tariff plans. It is especially convenient that there is no additional charge for the opportunity, as happens with other operators.;
  • Unlimited communication within your own network. You can talk to owners of SIM cards connected to the main number without restrictions. Thanks to this, the tariff, which was not originally intended for calls, becomes extremely profitable.
  • Internet distribution without restrictions. The SIM card can be installed in the router and share traffic with any devices around. This is an excellent replacement for standard Wi-Fi with home wired Internet.
  • Free use of torrents. Unlike other operators, Beeline does not reduce speed in any way when downloading torrent files.

Of course, there are some drawbacks:

  • Other communication services are not blocked. This is both a plus and a minus at the same time. On the one hand, it is convenient that you can call or send SMS from a SIM card if urgently needed. But at the same time, this can be used for fraudulent purposes.
  • Traffic is not transferred. If you do not have time to spend your 60 GB before the end of the current month, the traffic will be lost in the new billing period. It cannot be saved on the number or somehow transferred to other subscribers.
  • “Auto speed renewal” is the default. Connecting an additional 5 GB package for 160 rubles. not very profitable, so when switching to a tariff you should immediately disable the service.
  • Debiting funds for a subscription to ViP Play. If you decide to take advantage of the free two-month subscription, be careful. When 60 days are over, 199 rubles. for using the service will be charged automatically. Cancel your subscription 24 hours before the expiration date to ensure you don't get charged.

Also a relative disadvantage will be the high cost.

What Internet technologies are best to use in a private home?

Before deciding how much it costs to connect home Internet in a private sector or country house, you should decide on the technology. Let's look at the most common ones.

  • Cable or fiber optic connection FTTB / PON / P2P. The simplest and cheapest technology, but in conditions of remoteness from large populated areas it becomes inaccessible. If a private house is located in the suburbs, then this option can be considered. For more remote towns and villages, cable Internet is often unavailable.
  • Internet ADSL, xDSL. The most accessible and cheapest type of connection. Landline telephone lines are available in all localities. The technology allows you to simultaneously use your home phone and stay online.
  • Wireless 3G via USB modem. Today, mobile operators offer network access using fourth-generation 4G and LTE communication standards. But the coverage area does not extend to small settlements and is concentrated only in large cities. 3G is often the only option to get access to the Internet, and the quality of communication greatly depends on the distance of the antenna and weather conditions.
  • Satellite Internet. Allows you to access the network in areas remote from terrestrial telecommunications. The option is quite expensive, and the signal is not always stable, depending on the distance of the satellite.

The cost of Internet connected to a home depends on the technology chosen.

How to connect

There were several ways to activate “Internet Pro” on your existing Beeline SIM card:

  • In your personal account on the operator’s official website;
  • In the proprietary application “My Beeline”;
  • Call the hotline 0611;
  • At your nearest sales office.

You could also buy a new SIM card or switch to Beeline while maintaining the number of another operator. Unfortunately, the tariff plan has now been archived, so it will no longer be possible to connect it.

Connection through the office of the operator Rostelecom

This method can be recommended to potential subscribers who want to calculate individually how much it costs to connect home Internet from Rostelecom. An on-site specialist will find out all the details and check technical capabilities. If the client's home is not connected to a fiber optic cable, the consultant will advise what additional switching equipment will be needed to connect the home Internet. To access the network using a telephone line, you need to purchase an ADSL modem and splitter. Everything you need can be purchased at Rostelecom sales points.

Managers will select the optimal tariff and tell you about current promotions and offers. The addresses where contact centers are located can be found on the Rostelecom website. When visiting a customer service office, you must have your passport with you. The document will be required to draw up an agreement with the company. Citizens who want to connect home Internet from Rostelecom to a private or low-rise home should take into account that the price of the service will vary depending on the range of work performed.

Summary

“Internet Pro” from Beeline is an excellent solution for a mobile modem or router. The tariff offered a large volume of traffic, a favorable nightly unlimited limit and the ability to add other numbers to the main SIM card for sharing Internet and TV subscriptions. “Internet Pro” was loved by Beeline subscribers - they wrote in reviews that this is one of the operator’s most profitable offers. Those who managed to connect it were very lucky. And the rest can only hope that Beeline will soon offer an even more interesting tariff for a mobile modem.
