Tinkoff Mobile: tariffs 2021, SIM card connection and subscriber reviews

As a mobile operator, Tinkoff Mobile began operations at the beginning of 2021. Development began with large regions, such as Moscow and the Moscow region, St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region, and now it is possible to connect communications in any city in our country, now it competes with such well-known companies as MTS, Beeline, Megafon.

What attracted Tinkoff Mobile so much? There are quite a lot of advantages of the cellular operator, but it attracts mainly due to its favorable tariff plans, you can set up minutes, gigabytes and SMS yourself, you can also connect two numbers to one SIM card, thereby making it very convenient and quick to top up the balance of two subscribers at once.

Tinkoff Mobile tariffs

There are no tariffs as such for individuals, which is a definite advantage for many users. Indeed, in most cases, on the tariffs used, at the end of the month there is an unused package of minutes or Internet traffic, which means you pay for what you do not use.

Tinkoff Mobile has made a more convenient offer, this is a tariff designer, here you can assemble the services you need yourself. We will tell you in more detail about the prices for different services (check the cost in your region with your operator or via the link).

Possible problems with your phone

If a message appears stating that the SIM card is missing, not detected, and the system asks you to insert it, then this means that the device does not detect it.

There may be a loss of contact, a software glitch, or the smartphone has blocked it. In rare cases, the problem may be damage to the SIM card itself.

System failure

There are cases when the phone does not detect the SIM card after firmware update, update or software failure. You can do a network settings reset or a hard reset.

With a complete reset, there is a high probability that all photos and videos will be lost. Therefore, before resetting, you need to transfer them to another device or to a memory card.

On Android

In the “System” section, located in the settings, select “Reset settings”. After selecting the “Reset Wi-Fi, mobile Internet and Bluetooth settings” action, you need to tap on “Reset settings” to save this action.

On iOS

In the “General” section, located in the settings, select the “Reset” item, which is at the very bottom of the list. When you click on “Reset Network Settings” you will be asked for a passcode. It must be entered to confirm the operation.

SIM card slot is disabled in settings

If your Android has several slots for SIM cards, one of them may not detect its presence in the slot, as it may not be activated. In this case, you need to find the “SIM Manager”, “Network or Internet” or “SIM cards” item in the settings and activate it by turning on the toggle switch on each slot.

Operator blocking

If the smartphone was purchased outside the country, it is quite possible that it is locked to a local operator. For this reason, it can only function with a foreign SIM card. Some people know how to remove the block with boards placed under the SIM. However, in this case, the phone will not work stably, and after flashing it will not work at all.

The best way out of this situation is to contact your mobile operator and officially unlink the device.

Where to buy a SIM card?

In order to switch to the Tinkoff Mobile operator, you can contact the Svyaznoy communication salon, but it is more convenient and faster to leave a request on the website or in the mobile application. A courier will contact you shortly, deliver a SIM card with an agreement and help you activate it.

To receive 1000 rubles as a gift on your balance , select the option “Transfer number - we’ll give you 1000 rubles”.

What about other operators?

Other domestic operators are also considering introducing new technology. VTB Mobile is currently considering remote identification of subscribers. Here it is planned to use an electronic signature and Mobile.ID technology.

VimpelCom also began testing self-registration of SIM cards. Everything here will be based on a proprietary mobile application. The subscriber will need to send photographs of the passport and face taken in real time. In this case, the agreement can be signed remotely, on the screen of a smartphone.

MTS is also considering the possibility of launching virtual SIM cards. But this will happen after a number of legal and technical issues are resolved.

Our country does not yet have uniform rules for identifying subscribers. Ministries and operators have been trying to agree on this issue since last year. Without these decisions, all launches of new technology will not go beyond a pilot project, experts say.

Whose towers does Tinkoff Mobile use? Coverage area

Cellular Communications Tinkoff Mobile operates on the basis of the Tele2 operator. The network coverage map is formed by more than 122 thousand towers throughout Russia. Tinkoff Mobile has coverage in the metro and outside the city: 4G (LTE), 3G.

Tele2's coverage area, which extends to almost all cities of the Russian Federation, moreover, in regions where Tele2 is absent, operates on Megafon frequencies, except for Crimea and Sevastopol, where the radio frequencies of the Volna Mobile operator are used.

How to manage eSIM profiles?

Switching between eSIM profiles and setting up - in your device menu: “Settings” → select the section about the cellular network → select the eSIM profile.

What you can configure in your profile:

  • Set eSIM as the main or additional number to switch between SIM cards when making calls and SMS.
  • Choose which SIM card you will use to make calls and which SIM card you will use to use the Internet.
  • Allow your device to remember which number you used to contact a contact on your list.
  • Disable the eSIM profile if you temporarily do not want to use it. At the same time, you will still remain a Tinkoff Mobile subscriber.

Is it possible to switch to Tinkoff Mobile with my own number?

This service is not new; like any other operator, you can switch to Tinkoff Mobile while keeping your number.

The procedure is practically no different from a regular connection. Unless the courier takes with him an additional agreement to save the number and a temporary SIM card, which in 8-10 days will already have your usual number. The cost of the service for new subscribers is 0 rubles. Moreover, when ordering online, a bonus of 1000 rubles is provided. Which will be sent to your Tinkoff Mobile SIM card.

Conditions for porting your number

  • the number should not be blocked;
  • it is necessary that the courier is met by the owner of the SIM card from the previous operator;
  • there should be no debt on the number;
  • If the number was ported earlier, at least 60 days must pass.

IMPORTANT! Money that was on the balance is not transferred; to return it, you must contact your operator.

How to delete

It is impossible to remove the eSIM from the device because it is soldered into the hardware. To stop using Tinkoff Mobile services, you can simply delete the subscriber profile.

This is done this way:

  • On iOS: launch the “Settings” section, find the “Cellular” section in it, select the desired tariff plan and click on the “Remove cellular tariff” item.
  • On Android: open “Settings”, go to the “Cellular network” section or similar, find the “eSIM” item, select a profile and click “Erase SIM card data”.

Once the deletion is complete, you will not be able to install a profile with the same number again. This is due to the fact that Tinkoff has a one-time QR code and activation code.

Important: even after the deletion is completed, you will remain a Tinkoff subscriber. To cancel a number, you need to terminate the contract for the provision of communication services with the operator.

Tinkoff Mobile eSIM

Not long ago, eSIM entered the market; it is a built-in chip in devices, new models of phones, watches, and tablets. works like an electronic SIM card.

To change the operator, you just need to download new settings to the eSIM; in Tinkofa Mobile it’s free.

How to connect eSIM Tinkoff Mobile?

You can leave a request on the website with your phone number, or in the application.

  1. If you left a request on the website, you need to go to the application and wait until the eSIM profile is ready.
  2. Once the profile is ready, click on the eSIM card and select the installation method (automatic, QR code installation, manual).
  3. Automatic installation (recommended method). The system itself will install the eSIM profile on the device; only your agreement is required.
  4. Installation by QR code. You need to display the year on another device, scan it with your phone's camera, and after receiving the QR code, add the eSIM profile in the device settings.
  5. Manual installation. Install an eSIM profile using an activation code.

What devices does it work on?

So far, not all manufacturers support working with eSIM. For example, you won't find such chips in devices from Xiaomi, Sony or Vivo.

Among the popular devices that have the ability to connect a built-in SIM card are:

  • iPhone XS, XS Max, XR, 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max;
  • iPad Air 3, iPad Pro 3, iPad Mini 5;
  • Samsung Galaxy S20, S20+, S20 Ultra;
  • Google Pixel 3, 3 XL, 3a XL, 4, 4 XL, 4a, 4a XL;
  • Huawei P40, P40 Pro, P40 Pro+.

For gadgets with iOS, the system version must be 12.1 or older, for devices based on Android - 10 or older.

The exceptions will be iPhone XS, XS Max and XR with dual SIM card slots that were released in China, Macau or Hong Kong. Also, the Japanese version of Google Pixel 3a does not support work with built-in SIMs.

In addition to tablets and smartphones, eSIM can work in smart watches - in particular, in the Apple Watch.

Unfortunately, watch models with built-in SIM cards do not yet work in Russia.

What to do if there is no network

The problem may be a malfunction of the device or a broken SIM card. First, you need to check whether the SIM card works in another device. If there is no signal, you need to contact a service center to replace the SIM card. You can inspect the SIM card tray for deformation or oxidation. If one of these problems is present, the part must be replaced with a new one and the phone must be checked again: it works or not.

It would also be a good idea to check the coverage area.

Communication can be lost in any room located underground. Thick concrete walls can also interfere with the signal.

If you are in the city at this moment, but there is still no network, then take a closer look at the behavior of the phone. Is the signal constantly absent, or does it appear periodically? Does he make attempts to find him and how successful are they? Ask people near you if their device can be detected by the network. If this problem occurs only on your device, then there is probably a problem with your device and you need to contact the Service Center.

Our technicians will thoroughly diagnose your device to see if any moisture has entered it, which could cause problems with the operation of components or modules. Having identified the malfunction, they will fix it as soon as possible, and the device will function again.

What to do if there is a bad connection

The device can pick up a weak signal in places where the station is overloaded due to a large number of mobile phones. The station automatically switches the device to another tower, which is further away, but relatively free of connections.

There may be additional obstacles in the form of houses or parks between the device and the tower, which further degrades the network signal. If communication in this area is necessary for a long time, it is recommended to install a mobile phone and Internet signal amplifier.

If neither moving to another sector nor installing an amplifier changes the situation, then the cause of the problem is in the device itself:

  • The case is too thick. If there are metal components in the case, they may interfere with network reception. In this situation, it would be better to purchase a silicone case.
  • The antenna is blocked by hand. If the signal improves when using a headset, the antenna is faulty or of poor quality.
  • SIM card is damaged. The SIM card may be oxidized, cracked or scratched. In this case, the card will have to be replaced.
  • The gsm module or cable is damaged. Contact a service center for repair.
