MTS began to remove old tariffs, forcing subscribers to switch to more expensive new ones. Not everyone agrees with this.
Against this background, logical questions arise: is it possible to remain on the old conditions and does the operator really have the right to change the conditions unilaterally?
Such arbitrariness is officially regulated by Russian law. Even if the operator was unable to properly inform you about changes in the SMS newsletter, he will still be right to update the information on the website.
Can an operator change the terms of a subscriber’s tariff unilaterally?
Sooner or later, a moment comes when the current tariffs become unprofitable for the operator: archived or simply old. Then the company decides to abandon them.
An agreement has been concluded with the subscriber, everything is spelled out in it. According to the Law “On Communications” and the “Rules for the Provision of Telematic Communication Services”, the subscriber must express his consent or disagreement to the introduced innovations. Notification occurs no later than 10 days before the changes come into force.
And if you have not shown to the operator in any way that you do not want to use the new tariffs, this is actually considered a positive answer .
Of course, this condition is spelled out in the contracts of all major operators:
MTS : 2.2.4. Unilaterally change tariffs , conditions, terms and payment system, list, types and composition of Services in the manner prescribed by current legislation, the terms of this Agreement and the Rules.
Beeline : 3.2.3. Independently establish, including change tariffs , both when concluding the Agreement and in the process of its execution. Determine the conditions for the provision of Services, including Tariff plans, by introducing Tariff plans/Services and/or making changes to the current conditions for the provision of Services/Tariff plans, in the manner prescribed by the Agreement.
MegaFon : 6.3. MegaFon is obliged to notify Subscribers about this at least 10 (ten) days before changes in the cost of Services (introduction of new tariffs for Services) by posting the relevant information on the MegaFon website www.megafon.ru (Mass Media Registration Certificate No. El FS77-24991 dated 30 June 2006), or in the printed edition “Rossiyskaya Gazeta”.
Tele2 : 6.2. The Operator has the right to unilaterally make changes to tariffs for communication services, 10 (ten) days in advance, by notifying the Subscriber of the changes on the Operator’s website on the Internet, as well as in places of work with Subscribers, if this is provided for by current legislation RF.
Forced change of tariff plans
If you haven’t panicked yet, and you still don’t know that Beeline is forcibly transferring to another tariff, it’s time to find out what tariff plan your number is served under - to do this, pick up your mobile phone and dial the USSD command *110* 05#.
As an old subscriber who hasn't thought about the tariff for years, you may find that your number is now serviced under a completely different tariff plan. This news comes as a shock to some, because all subscribers are divided into two categories - those who received the corresponding notifications, and those who were not notified at all. Moreover, even those who received a notification about the change in TP are shocked. And some simply do not notice how they began to pay more for communications.
In other words, the black and yellow operator with the always joking Svetlakov independently transferred and is still transferring its subscribers to updated tariffs. Some people now pay more than before, while others, on the contrary, have the opportunity to pay less.
There is a certain panic; people flock to service offices and try to call help desk consultants. In offices, consultants have to withstand a barrage of criticism and abuse, and it is completely impossible to reach the hotline. Let's figure out why all this fuss was started.
The operator did not sufficiently inform the client. Can I appeal?
Technically, the operator notified of the changes via SMS.
If for some reason the link does not open or the operators do not respond, the truth still remains on the company’s side. Before sending messages, the information on the site is updated, which can always be found through the same Google.
The only thing that can save you in this situation is that you were not informed 10 days before the tariff changes came into force. Then you can appeal the innovations.
What to do next
If you were transferred to another tariff without consent, then remember that you still gave it - you signed an agreement in which it was stated that Beeline has the right to “play” with the tariffs and their content. And it’s useless to prove something with foam at the mouth. If you once blocked an operator from sending notifications, then this was done on your initiative.
You cannot use the phrase “I did not read the contract,” since it bears your signature. If you use someone else’s number, then you legally do not have the right to make any claims to the operator.
And no one is going to steal your money, because you can always change the tariff plan to a more suitable one. After all, tariffs are not set manually, but automatically. And automatic machines tend to make mistakes. If you do not agree with the tariff with a subscription fee assigned to you, check out the offers without a subscription fee:
- The “Zero Doubts” tariff is an adequate and advantageous offer without mandatory monthly payments. All local calls will cost only 2 rubles/min;
- Tariff “Per-second” - only 5 kopecks/sec for numbers of any operators. An excellent choice for budget-conscious subscribers. There is also a profitable intercity route within Russia – 3.9 rubles/min.
And if you are an active subscriber, but you did not like the high monthly fee for the version of the “Everything!” tariff provided to you, choose the most suitable option by checking out the available offers on the Beeline website . You can also get help in communication shops. And don’t hesitate - the sooner you change the tariff, the lower the costs will be.
If you think that Beeline is transferring to other tariffs without the consent of subscribers, we recommend that you re-read the subscriber agreement for the provision of communication services. As for the statements that the operator “steals” money and “edits” the details, all this is cast into great doubt - as the practice of work of service office employees shows, 99.99% of the subscribers themselves are to blame for unnecessary expenses and write-offs, dialing unfamiliar teams that do not know how to keep track of their numbers, as well as those that do not read contracts and conditions for the provision of individual services and options.

How to refuse tariff changes
In fact, this is impossible .
In any case, your services will simply be suspended. You can send an official refusal, or simply not pay the tariff - the operator will still regard this as the beginning of termination of the contract.
Life hack on how to reduce the price of the tariff.
In some cases, you can “threaten” in a written statement to switch to another operator. Companies are actively fighting for their customers, so you may be given a discount on the provision of communication services.
PS It’s not just MTS that does this. Beeline and MegaFon also forcibly change the terms of subscribers' tariffs without prior consent.
