Today in Russia, among more than a hundred registered cellular operators, there are three companies with the largest number of subscribers: Beeline, MTS and Megafon . Other mobile operators have a significantly smaller number of users and are often represented only in certain regions of the Russian Federation. In addition to the so-called “Big Three”, we can highlight such operators as Tele2, Smarts, Rostelecom and Yota , which stand out from the mass of other operators, but still do not reach the leaders.

What numbers do Beeline numbers begin with?
All Beeline phones have an individual code, which is not the same for the settlements of our state. Individual set-top boxes, such as 905 and 903, operate in literally all cities, because until the beginning of 2006 the company simply did not have any others.
If a consumer phone starts with similar attachments, it means that the presented SIM card is already more than 14 years old. 909 can also be added to similar prefixes. The age indicator of a phone starting with this code value is also 14-15 years.
In the total number, Beeline phones are represented by 19 numerical prefixes.
Here are all these prefixes: 900; 902; 903; 904; 905; 906; 908; 909; 951; 953; 960; 961; 962; 963; 964; 965; 966; 967; 968.
Where to find out information about code values
To obtain more specific information about Beeline code values, which shows all regions and the codes used in them, as well as the current number of mobile numbers associated with a specific code, you need to use a web resource called Codificator.
The algorithm of actions should be like this:
- You need to go to a web resource (you can find it by searching in the search bar of any browser). Next, you need to go to the “Codes” tab, located in the upper right corner. In addition, you can go to the “Mobile Code Directories” subsection, which is located on the main page of the service.
- In the window that appears, the user will be shown a list of Russian mobile operators. Next, you need to select the required company, that is, Beeline, and click on the icon with its logo. A list of all code values that the phones of this company can begin with will open. In addition, a special window will appear next to you where you can enter the number of the desired phone to determine its ownership.
- The new page will display a list of Beeline codes to the consumer. All active consoles will be indicated in the upper corner. When you click on each of them, a list of areas where the presented attachment is used will be displayed.
How to determine the ownership of numbers
To audit the code values of cellular phones to establish the regions of their operation, you need to use the Beeline web resource.
The step-by-step actions here are:
- On the main page of the website, you need to visit the “Individuals” subsection and go to the tab called “Help”.
- Next, you need to go to the “SIM cards and numbers” tab, and then select the required service.
- In the empty search bar, you need to enter the number of the gadget being audited with a code value, then solve the captcha and click on the “Check” icon. Next, the consumer will be presented with all the information about the phone he is interested in.
Verification via SMS
In cases where consumers for some reason cannot access the mobile company’s resource, they will be able to receive all the required information on the phone they are interested in in the form of an SMS notification:
- If users need to see city code values, then they must send a message with the name of this locality to the short number 5050. For example, when a consumer writes the name Urai, then after just 2-3 seconds a response notification with detailed information will be sent to his gadget according to the code values of the represented city.
- When the consumer does not know anything except the country code, he will be able to send this code value to the same number 5050. In response, he will receive a notification with all the codes that are used by communication providers in that country.
- The Beeline directory will also help you determine from which locality the unfamiliar call was made. To do this, you need to send the number of the calling consumer to the short number 5050.
Sending all of the above messages is not subject to tariffs and is completely free. If a person is in roaming mode, then such service notifications are charged in accordance with the terms of his tariff.
Mobile operators of Russia
In 2021, according to Rossvyaz, more than 80 companies are registered that provide cellular communication services in Russia. Many cellular operators in Russia are public and provide communication services to the population on a commercial basis. Any citizen can become their client. Small operators were created exclusively to provide cellular communications between employees of government organizations and institutions. An ordinary citizen cannot become their client.
There are four major cellular operators: MTS (Mobile TeleSystems), Beeline (Vympel-Communications), Megafon, Tele2 (T2-Mobile). They have the largest number of subscribers and operate in all regions of the country (Tele2 operates in most regions). In some regions of the country, coverage is provided by renting a network of local operators. In the 2000s, the name “Big Three” (MTS + Beeline + Megafon) was popular; in recent years, the concept of “Big Four”, which included Tele2, has been used more often.
Currently, the owner of Tele2 Russia is Rostelecom.
Other cellular companies have a much smaller customer base and coverage area in the Russian Federation. Among them are the famous SberMobile, Rostelecom, Yota. The latter was previously known as an Internet provider with a 4G network in Moscow, but since 2014 it has been actively advertised as a new cellular player. In October 2013, MegaFon completely acquired Scartel/Yota, which holds 4G/LTE licenses. Since September 2021, Yaroslavl-GSM JSC has been merged with MegaFon PJSC.
At the end of 2021, a new cellular operator Tinkoff Mobile was added. The operator was created in partnership with Tele2: it works as a virtual operator and uses the technical equipment of Tele2. The operator is related to Tinkoff Bank and is actively advertised by it.
In 2021, SberMobile, a mobile operator from Sberbank, launched. Licenses were received back in 2021, in fact, advertising began in 2021, the operator’s services became available to any Russian.
