Registration
This piece of paper, which is not at all clear why it is needed... is some kind of bureaucratic burp. After 16 years of living in Russia, its purpose remains a mystery to me. I’m just used to the fact that the bureaucratic machine has to reclaim this piece of paper... and no one checks its authenticity. Never. Yes, yes, you can bring an absolute lie to the bank or consulate when applying for a visa, etc. And no one will give a damn. This is what scammers take advantage of, who give you a fake “registration” for money. Because no one gives a damn about her. Except for the traffic police. They will make a request to the FMS (Federal Migration Service) and check whether you really notified Russia of your arrival. So a fake registration won’t work
. What should I do? We take a Muscovite (in my case, my wife), go together to the MFC (at the place of registration of the taken Muscovite) and register. The procedure takes... well, half an hour to an hour. Samples of filling out, forms - all this is on site, check, they will explain everything to you.

The presence of a Muscovite (or host, as he is called) is mandatory. It is enough for him to have a passport with Moscow registration. As a result, we receive a tear-off spine - this is also the “registration”. In a couple of working days, the FMS will receive data from the MFC, after which you will officially “break through the databases.” Conclusion.
You don't have to pay anyone to register. They will make you a fake that will not be accepted by the traffic police. It’s better to give this money to a Muscovite you know for being amenable. Your registration will not burden him in any way.
Significance for the subscriber - in everyday life
At the moment, a mobile phone number is not just a set of numbers to call a specific person, it is a full-fledged person identifier. It is simply necessary in modern life, without it you will not be able to open a bank account, register on many sites, and, in principle, lead an active social life.

Looking ahead: I received my license on April 25, 2021 (9 months after the start of training). Why is it taking so long, can you do it faster? Can.
I recommend going to theory: asking questions, understanding controversial situations. Theory is a very logical thing. After you learn the basics (rules, signs, markings, that’s all) - most of the answers in the exam can be given using logic and common sense. But some questions will still have to be literally memorized. It is not convenient to prepare for the test using a book (given at a driving school). Find the app on your phone. There are a lot of them. I liked the Traffic Rules Exam 2019 (link for iOS, but also available for Android). The driving school will have one lesson dedicated to first aid. It was carried out by a guest from the Ministry of Emergency Situations. I recommend not to miss it. Because (God forbid, of course) in the case of guts-blood-dismemberment, you need to understand how to act. In short, don’t touch anything or anyone, call an ambulance. But there may be interesting nuances. In general, you will learn all this in class. Don’t be put off by a teacher’s invitation to, for example, try to perform CPR on a dummy. There will be no unnecessary training. In general, a month later I passed the internal theory exam and went on vacation.
Driving. October 2021
| After the vacation, I paid for the second part of the training (11 thousand rubles) and started driving (with manual driving). October turned out to be sunny. The first couple of lessons I didn’t understand at all how to drive, how to steer... completely awesome. I thought it was all somehow simple, but in fact my head was boiling from the number of operations that need to be done in order for the car to move (and not just drive, but where it needs to go). This feeling did not leave me until the end of the class, because I had just gotten used to starting, I had to steer, I just started steering, I had to make a U-turn, I seemed to have figured out the U-turn, I had to parallel park, drive into the garage, etc. And then we went into the city! There are no complaints about the instructor, but there is nothing particularly to praise either. He gave you the base, but as such he has no interest in your experience. The instructor offered to “help with the exam” so as not to waste time. Offered additional classes, past the driving school. I refused all offers. I wanted to take the exam myself. I finished the basic course and realized that this was not enough for me to take the exam at the traffic police. I took a break and started the next block of classes only in January 2019 with a different instructor.

Retake 1. Venue. March 2021
| Before retaking I pay 1000 rubles again. driving school for organizing it. During the retake, I stalled on the very first exercise - an overpass (you can stall twice on the platform). But I press the brake while I’m at it and don’t allow it to roll back. I start up and drive over the overpass. In general, the overpass is the most difficult thing on the site; 50% of those taking tests fail on it, the majority are girls (I’m not a sexist, just statistics that I observed three times on the exam site). | Spent: 41,600 ₽ |
The most annoying case was when a girl drove perfectly over an overpass and almost didn’t reach the end of the exercise (after the overpass, the front wheels should stop in the corridor between cones ≈ 1 m wide).
She and the inspector argued for a very long time whether she had arrived or not. But in the end - a retake. And I’m great. I drove everything right this time and went to wait for the exam in the city. The city did not give up. Exceeded the speed limit by 2 km/h in a section with a 20 km/h limit. The cunning inspector first suggested that I make a U-turn (on a one-way road), I hesitated for a second, but immediately said that this was not allowed. Immediate command: find a parking spot. “There are signs on both sides - stopping is prohibited.” In short, while I was looking at the signs, the speed was 2 km/h and exceeded (and there was a hundred-meter section with a limit of 20 km/h), which the inspector immediately noticed and gave a failure. I have no complaints, you have to be careful.
How to dial a phone number?
Many have come across the format of numbers, when some show it in the format “+7-…….”, and others in the format “8-…….”. In fact, if you use a phone in Russia, both options are correct. But if you call from abroad, you will have to dial the number with a plus or by entering the combination of numbers “007” instead of “+7”. This is something like a single standard that allows you to minimize the number of dialed codes to first make long-distance calls, and then to international ones.
Many people don’t understand how much we hated people with zero in their phone number.
Now, for unification, even incoming numbers are defined in an international format. This greatly simplifies the process of working with numbers. I remember when everything worked a little differently, numbers stored in the phone book with an eight were easily dialed, but not identified. That is, if the number was in this format, the device did not match it and the incoming number was simply determined in the form of numbers. Now this has been corrected and it is almost impossible to encounter this.

Perhaps the only problem in choosing how to dial a number is that calls can be charged differently, that is, as international or local. I personally have not encountered this, although I type both ways, but they say on the Internet that this happens.

How can I find out where a call is coming from?

If you need to determine which part of the country a landline number was calling from, then you need to follow a simple algorithm. From the ten-digit number of the contact, we remove the region code and only a 6- or 7-digit phone number remains. The region itself can be calculated from the list:
You can reach Crimea by entering +7692 (Sevastopol), and for the rest of the peninsula the call is made using +7 10 390, and then the rest of the numbers. If you could not find the required code in the list, you can determine it using the online service.

According to the rules, after the third retake the break is a month. And if you do not pass within six months, then you will have to take everything again, starting with the theory (even if it has already been passed). In general, the third attempt was my last. After all, my term was also limited by registration (valid for 3 months, mine ended on April 27). Thus, there was about a week left to pass the exam and get a license.
By the way, Belarusians, keep in mind that official registration cannot be done more often than once every six months. In any case, this is what all sorts of legal websites write, for example here, referring to the legislation. I haven’t found any confirmation on the FMS website yet, but you’ll find shit there.

To sign up for a license, you need to go to the traffic police and receive the coveted coupon on a first-come, first-served basis. The driving school advised “just go early.” They say that coupons are issued from 8 am, and you must arrive at least 15-30 minutes in advance.
