By default, Windows automatically enables and uses connected network interfaces, including Wi-Fi and wired adapters. When a Wi-Fi (or Ethernet) connection stops working, the operating system automatically disconnects the connection. The connection can also be disabled manually for troubleshooting and network issues.
If your internet isn't working, disable and re-enable your connection to reset network functions without rebooting your computer. This may fix some types of network problems, such as a hard reboot.
The instructions in this article apply to Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP.
How to turn off the Internet on MTS: unlimited traffic and temporary blocking
Almost all operators in Russia include a mobile Internet package for a dacha in the Dmitrovsky district in each of their tariff plans. In some cases, the option is activated automatically and its cost is already included in the general tariff; in others, it is offered as a separate service and requires manual activation. Let's look at how to turn off the Internet at the dacha on MTS and in what situations it will be useful.

You can disable and enable Wi-Fi on a laptop using the key with a wireless network connection icon in the form of an antenna that distributes the signal. Older laptop computers have a special button. In most new ones, it is combined with one of the function keys F1 - F12.
To enable additional features (to use the second function of the button instead of F2), hold it down together with Fn. Typically, an icon will then appear on the display indicating the status of the wireless connection.
The laptop may also have a special button to activate the wireless module. Typically located on the side or top of the keyboard.
When to turn off the Internet
The MTS operator fully admits that some subscribers will want to turn off the Internet at their dacha, since they do not need the mobile network.
Many grandparents think that it is because of the mobile Internet that they quickly lose money from their phone, so often older people want to disconnect from this option. They only use the phone for calls.
Many parents decide to remove access to the Internet so that their children do not go online without permission. Parents can also block access to the Internet when they notice that their child is clearly addicted to a smartphone. There are also subscribers who turn off the service to save money.
Refusal may be necessary if a person does not have access to the World Wide Web or there are few funds left in the account, or he is simply afraid that the main traffic will run out.
How to temporarily disable MTS Internet on your phone
To temporarily stop using mobile data, you need to turn it off in the settings of your smartphone or iPhone.
It's easy to do:
- On Android, tap the Settings icon (gear in the upper right corner), tap Network & Internet, find Mobile Network, and turn off Mobile Data.
- On iPhone, tap the Settings icon, find Cellular, then turn off Cellular Data.
After turning off mobile data and disconnecting from Wi-Fi, you can still receive calls and SMS, take photos, get directions, read books and articles, translate texts into different languages, and much more. What you can't do is search the Web, send emails, check Instagram, receive notifications from Facebook, or scroll through Twitter. At any time, you can connect to the Internet again by simply returning the settings to their original state (allowing data transfer via the mobile network).
The Internet can be disabled by deleting Internet profiles from settings. To do this, you need to go to the phone menu, to the data transfer section and delete the selected profiles that can provide Internet access. Please note that all options for turning off traffic on your phone do not cancel the payment for mobile Internet, if it is included in your tariff - the limit will simply be accrued to you monthly, regardless of whether you spend it or not.
The only option to reduce additional costs is to promptly disable unnecessary traffic using a special command - * 111 * 936 * 2 #. Send a request to disable the feature and wait for a response SMS notification that it has been disabled.
Disabling the wireless network connection
Right-click on the network icon in the notification panel. Select Network and Sharing Center (it’s the same in Windows 8).
A window will open in which on the right click on the item Change adapter settings .
Next, just right-click on “Wireless Network Connection” and click Disable .
That's it, Wi-Fi is turned off! And the connection status on the notification panel will be something like this (however, if you have a network cable connected, the status will be different):
To turn your wireless network connection back on, just do everything the same, but select Enable and Wi-Fi will work again.
By the way, if you do everything this way, then even after rebooting the laptop, it will not search for available networks to connect to.
This method is suitable for any laptop, netbook, or computer with a Wi-Fi adapter that runs on the Windows 7 or Windows 8 operating system. On Windows XP this is done in much the same way. But, unfortunately, there is no way to show it in screenshots.
Physical shutdown on the keyboard
If you look closely at your keyboard, you will find the Fn key. This key allows you to activate additional functions of the laptop keyboard and, accordingly, use them. The top row of keys, the name of which begins with the letter “F,” combines those same additional capabilities. Each of them has a corresponding icon. For example, on the key for turning Wi-Fi on or off, an antenna with outgoing radio signals is drawn (sometimes a computer is drawn, with radio waves drawn on its sides).
If you press Fn and the key responsible for wireless modules at the same time, Wi-Fi will turn on. If you press these keys again, the adapters will turn off. This is the first way to disable WiFi. Remember that, as a rule, Bluetooth will also be disabled along with Wi-Fi, since in the vast majority of cases these two technologies are combined under one key.
Keyboard buttons, levers and keys
Not every laptop buyer pays attention to all the details of its device; most owners of this equipment are interested in the touchpad, keyboard and other main control units.
It is not so easy to notice the small lever on the housing. Moreover, its purpose is not entirely clear. Here is an example of such a control:
Look around the sides of the laptop and you will almost certainly find it. If not, then pay attention to the keyboard.
Different laptop models use different keys to turn off the wireless network. This can be either the “F2”, or “F12”, or “F3” key. In any case, it is marked in a special way, approximately as in the figure below:
Just remember that it is pressed, as a rule, in combination with the “Fn” function key. That's all about hardware, it's time to talk about software.
Ways to disable the Internet in MTS
The MTS operator gives its subscribers a lot of options on how to control their services, activate them or enable blocking. If you decide to block the Internet on your smartphone,
You can do this in any of the following ways:
- through your Personal Account from your PC or tablet;
- using USSD commands;
- at the MTS office;
- by calling the operator;
- changing your phone settings;
- in the “My MTS” application;
- by sending an SMS to your mobile operator.

Voluntary blocking
How can you temporarily disable Beeline Internet at home, for example, when planning a trip? Home Internet subscribers have the opportunity to activate a voluntary blocking of data transmission for 90 days. After this period, access to the network will be restored automatically.
There is no command for disabling Beeline Internet in this way, but you can call 8-800-700-0611 and ask for help from a specialist.
If you are used to doing everything yourself, use the “Personal Account”.
Through your personal account
To turn off mobile Internet online, you need to go to the MTS website and go through a quick registration (if you have not done so already). Next, you need to enter your username and password to log into your account. Using the capabilities of your personal account, you can view the settings of all connected subscriber services, monitor and regulate financial transactions with the balance, add / block completely or temporarily disable all available services, change the tariff plan, perform manipulations to remove or add Internet traffic packages, and much more. etc. The personal Internet assistant, thanks to a simple and understandable menu, will quickly disable unnecessary options, including the Internet.
To disable the service in your personal account you need to:
- go to the tab;
- click on the option “Disable data transfer”;
- To save the actions, click the “OK” button.
On the modem
If you need to disable Internet traffic on your modem, consider whether you are temporarily suspending use of the equipment or permanently.
If you stop using the modem for a while, you don’t have to take any unnecessary actions - the balance will reach zero and you can resume access to the network only when you top up your balance - you won’t go into the red.
If you are no longer going to access the network using a modem, you need to remove the drivers for this device. Open “Control Panel” on your PC or laptop, then “Programs and Features”, find “Beeline USB modem” here and delete this item.
At the MTS office
If you do not fully understand how to disable mobile Internet on MTS online or manually, you can contact the operator’s office for help.

Call to operator
Instead of a personal visit to the office, you can call your mobile operator at 0890. After connecting with a consultant, you need to inform him of your intentions. As a rule, SMS arrive within 5 minutes after a conversation with the operator.
The option under consideration has one significant drawback - you will have to spend about 10 minutes on a “virtual conversation” with the robot.
Using USSD commands
Special USSD commands from MTS allow subscribers to refuse the Internet. Now this method is used by many users.
Each tariff has its own combination:
- To turn off the Internet in the “BIT” tariff, dial * 252 * 0 #.
- For "Super BIT" use the request *111*628*2#.
- "Mini BIT" is disabled with the command * 111 * 62 * 2 #.
- “Internet VIP” is deleted by request * 111 * 166 * 2 #.
- The “100 gigabytes per day” option is deactivated by the key combination * 111 * 1824 * 2 #.
- “Bit Smart” – * 111 * 8649 #.
- You can delete the “Internet Mini” package using the combination * 111 * 160 * 2 #.
- The combination for the Internet Maxi package is * 111 * 161 * 2 #.
- To disable the Internet on the “Super BIT Smart” tariff, use the request * 111 * 8650 #.
After you enter the appropriate command, press “Call” and wait for the SMS notification.
Command line
You can control your computer in text mode. To turn off Wi-Fi on a laptop, follow the instructions:
- Execute “cmd” in the window of the same name, called by the combination + R.
- Enter: “netsh wlan show interfaces” to display a list of available wireless adapters.
- The “netsh wlan show networks” command will help you find out the names of available networks.
- Enter "netsh wlan disconnect name="network name".
To connect, there is the command “netsh wlan connect name = “network name”.
By SMS

- subscribers of the “BIT” tariff can dial 2550 and send this message to number 111;
- "Super BIT" is disabled using the combination 6280 sent to the same number;
- "Mini BIT" combination 620 or 8649;
- “Super BIT Smart” – combination 8650.
After sending the SMS you will receive a notification from the operator. It will say that you have given up mobile Internet. In the same message you will be given a code to reconnect the service.
Blocking of the “Package of three services”
What does “Three Service Package” mean? These are GPRS Internet, WAP and MMS - services that allow us to access the network using a mobile phone, as well as send MMS messages to each other. The very possibility of using these communication protocols can be blocked by the cellular operator.
To completely disable paid Internet on Beeline, you can send the USSD command *110*180# or ask a company specialist for help.
Very often, parents turn off the “Package of Three Services” when purchasing their child’s first phone. Or if the device is used by an elderly person. In general, in the case when access to the network, in principle, is not needed, and a large sum can be charged for a random Internet session - especially when the number does not have a free (unlimited) Internet package.
Also, the possibility of such deactivation is available in the settings of some mobile devices, but, alas, not all.
Using the My MTS application
The mobile application “My MTS” from the operator is free and runs on Android 2.3 and higher platforms, as well as iOS 7.1 WP 8.1 and higher. If the card is already inserted into the device, authorization will be performed automatically.
Next, in the application itself, you need to open “Services” and set up your account. In it you need to either disable network access completely or disable connected options.
If necessary, you can reconnect the necessary options using the “User Account” or standard commands.
Disabling the Internet on the “Smart”, “Tariffishe”, “All MTS” tariffs
Some tariffs suggest non-standard ways to disable mobile Internet. On the entire Smart line, the Internet is turned off with the command *111* 936#, then press the call button.
The Tariffische tariff plan can be disabled in the My MTS application, and then switch to another. This can also be done in your personal account, and no fee will be charged for changing the current tariff plan. Consultants in the MTS technical support service will be able to help make the transition from the Tariffishche tariff to another.
To disable the “All MTS” tariff plan, you need to write an application to terminate the contract at the communication salon. When switching to another tariff, you can save your number.
The “Online” option provides for unlimited use of instant messengers and social networks. This service can be disabled using the service combination * 111 * 345 * 2 #. The “Internet for a day” tariff can be disabled by command 67 or SMS with the text 670.
To disable the “Unified Internet” tariff on MTS, you must remove all participants from the group. If a participant wants to leave the group on his own, he needs to cancel the service in the personal account or send an SMS with the number 0 to 5340.
The administrator can also immediately remove all group members. You can do this:
