How to easily find your loved ones if they cannot tell you where they are, or you just want to know where your family member is now. The mobile operator Beeline has developed a new one specifically for these purposes.
By activating the option, you can find out where the phone you need is located at any time. Upon request, you receive a message with the subscriber’s address, which you can look at on an interactive map and understand where exactly the person is located.
Description from Beeline
“Locator” is a service that helps you find out the location of a mobile device in case of loss or the need to understand where its owner is. This works based on data from the company's telecommunications towers - the SIM card connects to one or more stations, which gives an idea of its location.
Most often, Locator is used to find relatives, but it can also be useful in the following cases:
- clarifying your location;
- finding a lost device;
- search for organizations or objects nearby.
Cost of the Locator service on Beeline
The service involves the use of different applications, USSD or SMS servers. But regardless of whether you use them or not, the cost of “Locator” is fixed - 7 rubles per day.
If you have never connected to a SIM card before, the subscription fee will not be charged for the first 7 days after connection. This means that you can get acquainted with the rules, interface or capabilities of the system for free.
After connecting you can:
- use the “Locator” and “Bug” applications;
- send USSD requests *556#;
- request the location of another subscriber;
- search for nearby objects;
- send messages to 5166 (except for Beeline and Beeline teams).
The traffic required for downloading, installing and operating applications, as well as for searching on the map, is not included in the payment for the service. Therefore, it is deducted from the Internet package or paid per minute according to the terms of the tariff.
In general, in terms of specificity, the option repeats the one described above. There is a limit of up to 5 users for searching, there is a portal: https://coordinates.beeline.ru/, there is a free period when connecting and the fee is charged daily at 1.7 rubles .
This service is available only to Beeline subscribers.
To enter this account you must log in. To do this, send an SMS to number 4770, the content of the SMS is “Password”. If you just want to activate this service, you can send a blank SMS from your phone to number 4770, or call 0665.
Restrictions
- The option does not work with other networks, that is, it will not be possible to track a competitor;
- Surveillance requires the consent of both parties;
- If the phone was turned off at the time the number was added to the list of monitored ones, the request will not go through and will have to be repeated after a while;
- The contact list does not exceed 5 subscribers.
Location methods
As stated earlier, it is more convenient and easier to use this service through the portal, but if Internet access is not always available, then requests can be sent both through the application and via SMS commands. The latter is not very convenient, since you will have to remember some combinations. One of them:
- “List” - allows you to see a list of subscribers who allowed you to track their location;
- Name + phone number to add a person to the watch list;
- Where + name to search for the subscriber, if he is on your list;
- Where + number to find a person who is not included in the list, but gave permission to track geo-data;
- “Delete + number” or “Delete + name” to remove a subscriber from your list.
How to use Beeline Locator
The company offers service users three interfaces, two of which work stably without an Internet connection. In all cases, there are functions for adding tracked subscribers or editing their list.
If you first used one interface option and then opened another, the numbers of the monitored subscribers will be automatically synchronized.
SMS
For control via messages, there is an SMS server 5166. Commands must be sent to this number. If you have not yet activated it, you can send any message to the same number (except Beeline or Beeline). Messages are free.
To find a subscriber, you need to go to the menu and go to the “Find subscriber” item. Automatic instructions will show you how to enter the number of the person whose location you would like to locate. Once added, he will receive an SMS indicating that you are requesting access to his location. You will be notified how he responded.
There are now two options for searching:
- Go to menu 5166, select “Find subscriber”, select a number from the list of added ones. Wait for a message with coordinates and a link to the map.
- Send an SMS with the desired number to 5166, for example, “Where is 9019875634.”
Via SMS you can use two more commands: “Where am I” and “What’s nearby”. The first will tell you your own location, the second - what objects are nearby.
USSD
In this case, everything is implemented in the form of a text menu, which must be entered using the code *566#. Then everything is simple: select the section or menu item that you want to open or use, and then send its number in response.
Website
Beeline has dedicated an entire website to the visual search interface. It is convenient to use it from a laptop or computer, because the information is presented conveniently and clearly. There are two lists here:
- “Watching” - subscribers whose location you can watch.
- “Watching” – subscribers who can watch your location.
The simple design allows you to easily understand the button controls and start searching for the coordinates of a specific user.
In the additional section “Objects” you can search and view restaurants, shops, hairdressers or other organizations nearby.
Mobile app
This service management option is one of the most convenient and familiar for smartphone or tablet users. In the application, maps are combined with lists of observed, observers and objects. Navigation is simple, traditional for such applications. Adding and removing tracked subscribers is also available. In addition, they can create and edit individual profiles.
To quickly install the application, call 0783. The application will be processed automatically and you will receive a download link.
Service capabilities
To find out a person's location, you don't have to call him. It is enough to connect the MTS Search service, which includes 5;
The services allow you to obtain information about the location of friends, colleagues, children, and also your car. When you activate “My City,” you will receive information about the infrastructure of the locality.
Clients who have enabled the option save time searching for cafes, ATMs and other buildings. Thanks to the service, parents will know where the child was and what applications he used.
Locator
The “Locator” option allows you to determine the location of any subscriber who has an MTS, Beeline, or Megafon number. Before searching for a person, you need to add him to the service. For this:
- Send an SMS with your name and number to 6677. For example, Evgeniy 9214751298.
- A message will be sent to the phone of the subscriber who will be “surveilled”. You must give a positive answer, otherwise the search will be prohibited.
- Submit a location request.
The service is provided on a paid basis. For its use, 100 rubles are debited from your mobile account monthly. The billing period allows only 100 requests.
Child under supervision
The service is similar to the Locator option, although there are some differences. “Child under supervision” allows you to immediately determine the location of a group of people. Service capabilities include:
- determination of MTS subscriber coordinates;
- checking the child's balance;
- control of used applications;
- checking the battery charge level.
To use this option you must register with the service. This can be done via LC. To register, send “Login” to 7888. The next step is to only add the numbers that will be monitored. A similar procedure is performed:
- Through the self-government system. Enter the phone number to which the message will be sent.
- Via SMS. To add a parent, “Mom” is sent to number 7788. To register your son, you need to send the message “Child Kirill 9137896523.”
The service allows you to create a group of 9 people. To obtain information, a request “Where is Kirill” is sent to 7788 (the name is indicated, the one that was added to the service).
For using the option, 100 rubles are deducted monthly. This amount includes control of 3 numbers. An additional fee will be charged for the fourth subscriber (check with the operator, as it depends on the region of residence). For informational purposes, there is no charge for using the service for 2 weeks.
My city
Another option included in the Search service from MTS. Thanks to the functionality, the client of mobile television systems receives location information:
- banks;
- gas stations;
- pharmacies and hospitals;
- communication salons;
- restaurants and cafes;
- shops;
- entertainment centers.
To connect to the service, dial “Where” on your phone, then send an SMS to 6677. The cost of one request is 10 rubles.
My car
The service allows you to control the movement of a work or private vehicle. The error in coordinates is 3 meters. A subscriber who connects “My Car” receives:
- travel information;
- information about the location of the vehicle;
- the ability to generate a safety assessment;
- detailed statistics on finances, mileage, number of trips.
To track the location of the car you need:
- Buy a device.
- Install software.
- Activate the device.
- Install the gadget in the vehicle.
The cost of the device is 5590 rubles. In this case, 150 rubles are debited from the balance monthly.
The gadget can be installed on cars manufactured after 2001. In this case, the vehicle must have an OBD connector.
Mobile employees
To run a successful business, you need to know where your employees are. The MTS Search service will handle this task. Mobile Employees includes 3 separate services:
- "Coordinator". The functionality allows you to plan and control the execution of tasks and coordinate the movement of vehicles. The system has a flexible interface. Thanks to this, it can be integrated into any enterprise.
- "Employees". The functionality is aimed at tracking location. You can calculate the route of movement of any representative of the organization. Control is carried out using detailed reports.
- "Transport". The option is aimed at total control over cars. The reports display information about the location of the vehicle with an accuracy of up to 3 meters, as well as fuel consumption and stops made.
The cost of using the service ranges from 3.5 to 8.5 rubles/day for one company representative.

Determining location is technically possible only in situations when the mobile device of the desired subscriber is turned on or in standby mode. The accuracy of the determination depends on the quality of the mobile network in the search area and some natural factors. The error of determination in an area with good network coverage is from 250 meters, in an area with a weak network – up to several kilometers.
Requests for finding Beeline and MegaFon subscribers are not limited, and MTS clients can be searched no more than 200 times per month. Determination is possible only on the condition that the subscriber being searched is within the mobile network of his operator and not outside of Russia. The minimum interval between sending requests is 5 minutes.
One subscriber can determine the location of no more than 5 people.
About the “Bug” and “Locator” applications:
- Stable operation is guaranteed when installed on devices with iOS or Android operating systems versions no lower than 4.0 and 8.0, respectively.
- Available only to users who are Beeline subscribers.
- Cannot be used without activation.
- They open up the opportunity to search for a person more than 5 times in one day.
Why the program doesn't work
Are you worried that Beeline Locator is not working? It is important to understand that the program will only work if a number of conditions are met.
- You have received the subscriber's consent to tracking;
- The user you are looking for is within the coverage area;
- The subscriber's phone is not turned off and is not outside the network coverage area.
The reason why Beeline Locator does not work may also be technical problems with telecommunications equipment, for example, in bad weather.
