There are many ways to save on cell phone usage. But the most profitable and convenient approaches are those offered by mobile operators. Recently, MTS’s “Open Internet” was added to the list of such approaches. With its help, the use of Internet traffic will become more economical and cheaper. At the same time, subscribers will not have to perform any special actions to gain access to the service. It is included in the basic package of services available to subscribers, regardless of the chosen tariff plan and the time of purchase of the SIM card.
Ways to disable the Internet in MTS
So, let's figure out exactly what methods of disconnection exist.
Through your personal account
There are several options for how exactly you can turn off the Internet. And the most convenient of them is disconnection through your personal account.
In order to disable the Internet on your phone, you can use the “Internet assistant”, which can be accessed in your personal account on the website https://www.mts.ru. In order to turn off the Internet, you need to:
- Register and then log in to the site. If you have already been registered before, you do not need to re-register.
- Find the “Services and Services” tab in your personal account, and in that section the “Service Management” option.
- Find the Internet tab in the list of services connected to the number.
- Next, the Internet is turned off using the auxiliary option.
At the MTS office
You can find out how exactly to disable the service, as well as ask specialists to do this, at the MTS office. To do this, you just need to take with you an identification document such as a passport.
At the same time, managers are obliged not only to provide you with full advice on this issue, but also to disable services that you no longer need. This option is most suitable for those clients who access the Internet via a SIM card installed on the modem.
By calling the operator
In order to disable services, you can call the operator. To do this you need:
- Call the short number 0890.
- Listen to the information recorded on the answering machine and select the appropriate number.
- Wait for the operator to respond and then explain to him what your problem is.
By the way, you don’t have to wait for the operator to answer. You can listen to information from the autoinformer and disable the service by following its prompts.
By changing your phone settings
During activation, special settings are sent to your phone that allow you to disable the service. And if you delete them, then access to the Internet will be suspended. In this case, the subscription fee for unused traffic will stop accruing.
By SMS
Unlimited Internet can also be disabled if you send an SMS to a special number. But for this it is important to know, firstly, the tariff plan, and secondly, the number that needs to be used to turn off the Internet.
other methods
For each tariff plan, there are specific commands that allow you to disable the Internet.
- So, for the entire Smart line there is a single command ?111?936# and a call button.
- If you want to turn off the Internet in the “Super MTS” layout, then you need to dial ?111?8650# and the call key.
- In order to disable the tariff in MiniBIT, you need to dial the command ?111?62?2#.
- For the “BIT” option, the command is ?111?252?2#.
- In order to cancel the “SuperBIT” action, you need to dial ?111?628?2#.
- If you want to disable the “Internet Mini” command, then dial ?111?160?2#.
- If you need to disable Internet Maxi, you should dial ?111?161?2#.
- To disconnect, you will need to dial the command ?111?166?2#.
To plug
Those wishing to connect MTS must immediately abandon such an idea. This is pointless because:
- the updated approach to traffic accounting is already connected to all SIM cards;
- it begins to be used after the main package is exhausted;
- and is not a service in the usual sense of the word.
That is, the interval accounting method simply replaced the standard method of charging and paying for Internet traffic, where every megabyte spent was taken into account. At the same time, clients cannot choose the accounting option that is convenient for them. It is installed by the operator.
How to turn off the Internet on a tablet?
In order to turn off the Internet from your tablet, you can use several functions at once. The most effective ones are listed below:
- To get started, MTS suggests using a special page located at https://www.mts.ru/mob_connect/tariffs/tariffs/tablet/?_ga=2.56950638.557721071.1512960098-441018513.1490937958&_gac=1.141844998.151307276 8.EAIaIQobChMI7qfMo5uE2AIVROAYCh2EdgtIEAAYASAAEgLdtPD_BwE.
- You can also dial the code *111*855# on your tablet; or *855#.
- You can use SMS to number 111 by sending message 855.
- Or use your Personal Account for these purposes.
Mobile operator MTS warned about Internet shutdown
One of the largest mobile operators in Russia is MTS, and it is trying to do everything possible in order to increase the number of customers and, in addition, increase its own income. By using the services of this telecommunications company, one can use voice communication, SMS text messages and in addition, mobile internet. Access to all these services is provided in more than 82 regions of the Russian Federation, because in all of them this cellular operator has proprietary coverage in 2G, 3G and 4G LTE networks. However, amid the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus, something happened that hardly anyone expected, because the head of this company addressed all subscribers, that is, more than 75 million people living in Russian territory.
According to MTS President Alexey Kornya, he asks subscribers to reduce Internet traffic consumption so as not to create too high a load on the network. It is noted that there is already a reduced speed in 2G, 3G and 4G LTE networks, and this problem arose due to the extremely high load on base stations and the entire company infrastructure. Since many people are no longer working and staying at home, they are watching high-definition content, downloading torrents, listening to music and doing other activities that lead to significant consumption of Internet traffic. Over the past two weeks, the volume of Internet traffic in large cities in Russia, as noted, has increased by as much as 30%, but this is still far from the limit.
It is obvious that if the situation with coronavirus continues to develop unfavorably, and this is exactly what will most likely happen, the load on the network will only increase, so the speed of network access for each subscriber will decrease. Moreover, it may come to the point that the Internet will be completely disconnected due to technical failures and problems arising as a result of a reboot of the entire infrastructure. That is why, in order to prevent anything like this, the president of the largest mobile operator in Russia asks subscribers to treat the current situation with understanding and, if possible, not to consume too much Internet traffic in short periods of time, as this will negatively affect the overall availability of the company’s services.
In addition, as noted, now when contacting the support service you have to wait longer than before, since most of the call center employees have been transferred to remote work mode, in which they receive phone calls not while in the office, but when they are at the yourself at home. This has had a negative impact on the quality of service, so when asking for help by phone number, you should be prepared for significantly longer waiting times. Obviously, since MTS encountered such problems, it means that all other mobile operators are also experiencing them, but they have not yet made any statements in this regard. The longer the quarantine at the Russian level lasts, the lower the total speed of access to the global network will be.
Earlier it became known that the federal cellular operator MTS launched an indispensable service that everyone must connect to.
Until May 10, everyone can receive a Xiaomi Mi Band 4 sports bracelet for free, spending only 2 minutes on it.

Open Internet from MTS: you asked - we answer
Last fall, MTS introduced the Open Internet - an innovative principle for charging mobile Internet. During the operation of the service, the traffic of Open Internet users increased by 2 times (on average by 1 user). Many people ask: what is the essence of this approach and how is it different from what happened before? In this article we have collected all the answers to your questions.
Connection
To connect to the MTS Open Internet service in Belarus, you do not need to make any additional downloads, connections, or leave applications. This is not a tariff or third-party option, so all settings are available by default. As soon as a user on a phone or tablet goes online, the open Internet of MTS Belarus keeps count.
What intervals exist and how much does traffic cost?
There are intervals: 0-100 MB, 101-500 MB, etc., up to 60 GB and above. For example, your tariff plan includes 1 GB of traffic. You used 1450 MB of traffic during the month, i.e. 450 MB more. This means that the tariff for additional 450 MB will be calculated based on the interval 101-450 MB costing Br3. Thus, for 450 MB above the package you will pay Br3.
All users receive a 20% discount on traffic.
How profitable is interval billing?
The open Internet has made large volumes of traffic more accessible: the cost of 1 MB is less than a penny.
For clarity, here are a few examples.
If a subscriber of the MTS SMART tariff downloads 2,000 MB over the package within a month, additional traffic will cost him Br7, that is, 0.35 kopecks. per megabyte. Before the advent of the Open Internet, the fee for the same volume would have been Br80 (at the previous rate - 4 kopecks per megabyte).
If a subscriber of the “Excellent” tariff needs another 100 MB in addition to the included 50 MB, at the end of the month he will pay Br1.5 - 1.5 kopecks each. per megabyte. Under the same conditions - 25 kopecks. for each additional megabyte. The bill for this would be almost 17 times more!
Is it possible to still “go into the red” if you don’t monitor traffic?
One of the main advantages of the Open Internet is complete transparency. When the traffic provided for by your tariff or promotion has ended, you will receive a message from MTS about switching to interval billing. When you switch to each new interval, MTS will send you a free SMS notification. You will be able to monitor traffic and predict costs for mobile Internet, which means you can avoid accidental overspending. The maximum fee for Open Internet is Br100. If you need more than 60 GB of additional traffic per month, you fall into the 60 GB and above interval, in which the volume beyond 60 GB is no longer limited, and it is impossible to exceed the amount of Br100.
Payment period
Having found out that it is impossible to implement the described approach on your own, you should focus on the payment features. Clients need to know 2 main features of debiting funds:
- money is withdrawn from the SIM card balance in a single payment at the end of the reporting period (month);
- the cost of intervals is not cumulative;
- Controlling expenses is the responsibility of the SIM card owner.
The latter is due to the fact that the operator constantly informs customers about increased costs via SMS.
Details
- Internet access points – internet.mts.ru, wap.mts.ru.
- The option provides unlimited Internet access in terms of traffic volume.
- The option is not intended for a modem. If a SIM card with the option is used in a modem, Internet access is limited. The recommended tariff for modems is “MTS Connect-4” / “For laptop”.
- When using file-sharing network services, Internet access speed is limited to 128 Kbps.
- From 02/12/2019, the option includes the distribution of Internet traffic via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB. You can distribute 3 GB of Internet traffic monthly at no additional cost. For distributing Internet traffic in excess of the specified volume, a fee of 78* rubles per day is charged. During the paid day (calendar day - from 00:00 of the current day to 00:00 of the next day), Internet traffic can be distributed unlimitedly. The fee is debited only on days of using Internet traffic distribution in excess of the specified volume. The 3 GB of Internet traffic, which can be distributed at no additional cost, is updated on the 1st of each calendar month.
- When the option is activated, the Internet traffic package provided in the tariff is not consumed, with the exception of the consumption of the Internet traffic package when distributed to participants in the “Unified Internet” and “General Package” groups. The subscriber will be able to distribute traffic to members of the “Unified Internet” and “General Package” groups only within the framework of the package according to the tariff.
- If the network load is high, the speed of Internet access may be limited.
- The option is valid in the MTS network in Russia.
- If you are located in the city of Norilsk and the Taimyr Dolgano-Nenets district of the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the 3 GB per month in the territory of this region is exhausted, the Internet access speed will be limited to 128 Kbps. When located on the territory of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, the Internet access speed is limited to 128 Kbit/sec. When you are on the MTS network in other regions of Russia, the access speed is not limited.
- The “Lots of Internet” option is mutually exclusive with the “Social networks”, “Web”, “You tube” options. When you connect the “Much Internet” option, the “Social networks”, “Web”, “You tube” options are disabled. If the “Much Internet” option is available, the “Social networks”, “Web”, “You tube” options are not available for connection.
*The indicated cost is valid from January 30, 2020 for tariffs: tariffs
At other tariffs, the cost of the service is 75 rubles
When connecting the option, the first month is written off at the time of connection and is reflected in the invoice as the addition of the “Lots of Internet” option. Subsequent debiting of the monthly fee is carried out every month, starting from the second, in full, on the day corresponding to the date of activation of the option, regardless of the amount of funds in the account.
If the number is blocked at the time of debiting, the fee will be debited when the blocking is released. If in the next calendar month there is no date similar to the connection date, the fee is debited on the last day of the calendar month. For the full month in which the subscriber was actually blocked, no fee is charged and the option is not provided.
