When using a SIM card with the Hype MTS tariff in roaming, additional cash debits are provided.

When traveling within Russia, the additional daily payment will be 15 rubles. To optimize your tariff plan, it is recommended to use the special option “All Russia Smart” with a payment of 100 rubles per month. It will allow you to make calls at the same cost as in your home region. You can connect it through your personal account or using the USSD command *111*1031#.

In order to save on calls when traveling around the world, you should activate the “Foreign” option. Depending on the selected countries, the daily fee for its use will be 290 or 390 rubles. To connect, you need to dial the combination *111*771*1# on your mobile keyboard.

Customers are offered several convenient options to connect to a tariff:

Detailed conditions

For new clients, the monthly subscription fee is charged daily. When switching to HYIP from another tariff plan, the first month's subscription fee is charged in full at the time of connection.

Packages of Internet traffic, minutes and SMS messages are provided in full immediately after connecting to the tariff. In the future, this happens monthly on the day corresponding to the connection date.

When connecting a landline number, , the payment for which is 304 rubles per month, is automatically added. When you change your number to a federal one, this service is automatically disabled.

IMPORTANT: When traveling within Russia, an additional 15 rubles per day will be charged for using communication services. If the subscriber does not use these services or his phone is switched off, payment will not be debited.

By some miracle I didn’t notice the “Hype” tariff, which has been available for connection since last fall. The name hints at a youth format, as does the advertising campaign by Russian YouTube bloggers.

The essence of the “Hype” is not surprising: it is a limited tariff with an emphasis on the mobile Internet, which includes unlimited traffic to certain Internet services, sites, applications and games.

This is what attracted me.

If I'm not mistaken, today only MTS provides mobile unlimited access to Apple Music. And this is very cool, especially for iPhone owners with a small amount of memory: you can stop storing music on your smart phone and always stream it over the Internet.

Moreover, on my archived tariff (“Smart” before the terms were updated), the traffic and call package applies to the whole of Russia. That is, there is no roaming as such! It really calms my nerves every time I go outside the city. It is obvious that this feature will migrate to the new tariff.

After this, I was ready to run for a SIM card or transfer to a new tariff. But one thing bothered me. This is MTS. There must be deception or trickery somewhere.

“Hype” turned out to be empty

Sorry, but this is how it really works.

Left the city - pay money every day. I scrolled through all the pages of the site and opened in the second tab a traditionally unreadable PDF file with detailed tariff conditions.

Quite deep, under the insignificant “?” a footnote was hidden, which sharply spoiled the mood.

When traveling around Russia, 15 rubles per day is debited .

15 rubles is an inconspicuous amount, but the fact itself is surprising and annoying. Debited every day simply because a SIM card is inserted into the smartphone. Moreover, all operators in the Russian Federation were ordered to get rid of roaming within the country by January 31, 2021, but MTS still hides it in its tariffs.

Okay, 15 rubles a day outside the city. It's even worse.

When 7 GB is exhausted, the speed will be limited . The total traffic package in HYIP is limited to 7 GB. Traffic that was spent in “unlimited” applications is not counted there.

However! If 7 GB runs out, the speed will automatically be reduced to 64 kbps. This is VERY little. At this speed, it is impossible to properly listen to music from Apple Music, not to mention watch videos from YouTube. In fact, you will not have Internet, except for Telegram.

It turns out that he is not so unlimited. Spending 7 GB is not so easy. But the selectivity of unlimited can easily lull your vigilance, you need to be on your guard.

You can remove the speed limit by purchasing an additional 500 MB package for 95 rubles; this can be done up to 15 times per month.

Unlimited traffic is not transparent. I haven't found anything about intentionally throttling mobile internet speeds in certain apps. This is good.

But I am confused by the list of situations and services that will not work with unlimited.

The “Hype Services” option is added automatically when connecting or switching to the “Hype” tariff and provides unlimited access to the specified resources (on YouTube - videos), the use of which does not consume 7 GB of traffic included in the tariff, with the exception of traffic ...

• built-in from third-party resources (RuTube, Vimeo, Yandex.Maps, etc.), as well as web.telegram.org;
• push notifications and updates
• while other applications are running in the background
• when downloading applications from the Windows Store
• when using services through the Opera browser, as well as any other browser in data compression mode (traffic compression)
• when accessing the Internet via a WAP access point (wap.mts.ru)
• when using private browsing mode (incognito)
• member of the "Unified Internet" group

What is background running of applications? I launched Apple Music in the background, hid it, and now the traffic is paid?

What is “data compression mode”? In mobile Chrome, for example, the data saving feature is enabled by default. Will even embedded YouTube videos count towards the total package?

And the theme with viewing in incognito mode killed me. Why? In short, a whole bunch of very different restrictions, and it’s not a fact that the most “tricky” ones are even indicated in the PDF document of the tariff.

And the last thing that really kills me.

“Modem mode” is paid. For each time it is turned on, you will have to pay money, and the debit will take place automatically. I regularly use it in conjunction with a MacBook, and I’m not going to pay extra to the operator for this opportunity.

I'll probably continue to use my 10 GB

It's good that I didn't switch to Hype blindly. Otherwise, I would have lost my archive tariff, which would have been more profitable in every sense.

I was lucky: I managed to connect to a tariff with 10 gigabytes of traffic without any restrictions. Enough for everything, except that I try to limit Apple Music and watch YouTube mainly via Wi-Fi. But now this option is “closed”, and the conditions for similar tariffs are disproportionately stricter.
