Banning SMS content on MTS: how to enable or disable

Date: August 30, 2021 | Updated: December 21, 2021 | Author: Moblie-man

Despite the fact that the era of instant messengers has long arrived, text messages are still afloat. Unfortunately, they are not always used for good, and very often become a real spam tool used to send advertisements. In addition, there are services such as content services that may charge additional fees to mobile operator subscribers. Today we will talk about how you can block such unwanted SMS messages, sending and receiving them.

Why does the phone send SMS itself?

There are several reasons why a phone starts sending SMS messages without permission. The most common are viruses and malware. They are designed to infect a phone and then initiate sending SMS to paid short numbers. You can suspect a virus in sending messages if:

  1. The user downloaded applications, games, pictures or other files from unverified sources.
  2. The user visited unverified sites with a large number of advertisements that could be accidentally clicked on.
  3. The user accidentally or intentionally clicked on dubious links in sent SMS messages.

There are other reasons why your phone may start sending SMS messages to other numbers.

Information about the number +447786205094

If the iPhone sends SMS to the number +447786205094, then the process is associated with the automatic activation of the iMessage and FaceTime applications.

Hidden SMS sending

The final recipient of information via messages is Apple, and money is charged for sending SMS internationally.

For your information! The procedure occurs without the direct participation of the gadget owner, does not ask for confirmation of the action, and the phone continues to stubbornly send notifications.

What should I do if my phone sends SMS itself?

First of all, your mobile device must be checked for viruses. In this case, you must download antivirus programs either using Google Play or from official websites.

Then it is recommended to call the servicing mobile operator. He will be the one who will be able to tell you where the SMS was sent and whether it is related to paid services. If so, then paid services must be disabled and then carefully monitor what additional options are connected to the SIM card.

How to block sending SMS abroad from iPhone

If SMS messages from an iPhone are constantly being sent to the number +44 778 6205094, despite all attempts to regulate the situation, then the simplest method is to set a ban on sending messages abroad. Each mobile operator has its own methods to turn off forwarding.

For Megafon you need to send a request *331*1111*16#. After some time, the operator should send a notification about stopping the transmission of messages to any international numbers (just in case, you can check the status of the operation by dialing *#331*1111*16#).

International notifications can be stopped at any mobile communications company (Tele2, MTS, Beeline). To obtain up-to-date information, just contact the technical support service and ask a consultant for all the details. Most procedures are carried out through your personal account or USSD requests.

After turning off the service, the iPhone will not be able to send messages to foreign subscribers. The disadvantages of this method include the inability to automatically link to Viber and other programs.

Important! Sometimes the issue is resolved by replacing the SIM card. A non-working SIM card also means a lot in the failure of the SMS center. In this case, you will not be able to send a request; you will have to go to the nearest company office.

Debiting money from your account for international messages is an unpleasant phenomenon, but it can be solved. If, after following all the instructions, the tablet or mobile continues to send SMS, then the best way is to send a request to Apple technical support. Its specialists will quickly force you to stop sending information to the office. The answer should come fairly quickly.

How to disable Google verification and prevent sending SMS?

If the user is not satisfied that, due to verification, his phone unauthorizedly sends SMS, for which a fee is also charged, it can be disabled. To do this you need:

  1. Open phone settings.
  2. Select the Google section.
  3. In the list of Services on this device or just Services, select Mobile Internet and messaging or Data and messages. The name may vary depending on the phone model and manufacturer.
  4. Click on the line Phone number associated with the device.
  5. Select Ways to contact you.

Next, out of three possible items, you must select one. The first one is activated by default: Use my number. This means that SMS will be sent without the owner's permission. The second option implies that paid SMS will not be sent just like that - before sending them, the system will ask the user for permission. The third option will completely prohibit sending SMS as number confirmation.

If the phone is under warranty and none of the above methods solved the problem, you should take the device to a service center for diagnostics. Additionally, the user can reset the mobile phone to factory settings. This action will delete all information on the device, so it is recommended to save important data in advance.

On iPhone

In iOS, there are two main ways to block messages from unwanted numbers: through Messages or through app settings.

  1. Open the Messages and go to a dialogue with the spammer. Click on the letter i in the upper right part of the screen (in older versions of iOS it says Details ). On the Details , tap the arrow next to the contact's name and then select Block Caller > Block Contact .

2. Open Settings > Messages . Select Blocked and click Add new . Enter the number you want to block and tap Block contact .

In addition to them, three optional methods are available: blocking SMS from all numbers not from the contact list, blocking using third-party filters and hiding notifications.

1. In the Messages , select Unknowns and spam. Move the Filter by sender . Then all messages from numbers not in your contact list will appear in a separate tab in the message list, and notifications about them will not be displayed.

2. Install one of the third-party applications that contain databases of spam numbers and allow you to filter messages from them. Here are some of them in the AppStore:

On the same Unknowns and Spam , you need to use the slider to enable the installed filter instead of the standard iMessages filtering. Then only spammers (and not, for example, your friends writing from new numbers) will appear in a separate tab in the list of messages.

3. Finally, advertising can come not only from contacts that you would be happy to blacklist, but also from useful ones - for example, Sberbank really likes to get various promotions by calling 900. In this case, just swipe to the right in the dialogue with number 900 and select
Hide alerts . Sberbank will still be able to send you SMS, but you will only read them when you want.

If you want to unblock a number, simply go to Messages > Blocked Contacts and tap the X next to the number.

Banning SMS from short and alpha numbers

This service allows you to prohibit receiving messages from short and alpha numbers. Short numbers are those with less than 11 digits, but usually there are 4–5. Alpha numbers are when you see letters rather than numbers in the “Sender” field, usually some kind of word with the name of the company.

It is important that the ban must be placed on each number separately. That is, it will not be possible to block all spam at once.

How to set a ban

To block advertising spam, you need to send an SMS to number 4424 with the following content: off - to set a ban, on - to remove the ban, check - to check whether this number is blocked, list - to receive the entire list of blocked numbers, clear - to remove blocking from all numbers.

If you enter an alpha number (that is, text), then the case is not important, the main thing is to enter the correct sequence of letters in the desired layout (En or Russian).

Price

The service of blocking the receipt of advertising SMS from MTS is free. But when you are in roaming, for sending an SMS command, you will be charged the cost of sending a standard message according to your tariff.

Additional terms

Bans can be checked not only using the commands described above, but also in your Personal Account in the section of prohibited SMS. But you won’t be able to edit their list there.

MTS has a limit on the number of blocked numbers - no more than 300. If you still need more, then contact the communication salon, where they will accept the corresponding application.

Sent commands are processed within 24 hours.

Shutdown

If there are no subscriptions to the newsletter, but SMS notifications continue to be received on the subscriber’s phone, you should check whether the number has a connected message. The option regularly sends out information about various products and promotions from the operator’s partner companies. You can unsubscribe from it by calling “067405551”.

The subscriber must understand that receiving unnecessary SMS is not the subscriber’s responsibility, but his right. No one can connect services or other services to the phone without his knowledge. If such an unpleasant moment does occur, the Beeline client can disconnect from unnecessary subscriptions at any time. There is no charge for disconnection.

How to block incoming SMS

The option to send and receive SMS notifications becomes intrusive when the user is constantly bothered by advertising alerts and spam. However, this does not mean that you need to tolerate these types of messages. It is possible to get rid of them if necessary. Instructions:

  • First of all, when a user wants to turn off annoying messages, they need to call their own mobile operator and ask to enable the Black List feature. In addition, the user will be able to independently configure this option and enter all phone numbers that send unwanted notifications.
  • There is a more accessible method in which the user will need to change the settings. For these purposes, the user's smartphone must have the function of blocking incoming messages. To check whether the user has such an option, open the main menu of the smartphone, then enter the settings. For various smartphone models, there are different instructions on what needs to be done in such a case (this is described in more detail in the instructions for the phone).
  • A similar option is located either directly in the settings in the SMS section, or in the SMS message settings (for these purposes, you need to go to the “Messages” subsection). Depending on the smartphone model, this option differs. In some smartphones it is possible to block all incoming notifications, in others it is possible to create your own blacklist. In addition, this option sometimes comes with the name “Filtering”. If such a function is present, unnecessary numbers are entered independently or added from the provided list.
  • When a user wants to remove messages that come from a paid service, he needs to send an SMS to a short number (notifications are sent from it) with the word “STOP” or STOP. When you need to block short numbers, you need to call 0858 (for users of the Beeline mobile operator). An automatic responder will advise you there and give the subscriber all the useful information. By dialing this number, the user can activate the “Black-White Lists of CPA” option. However, it should be noted that this option is given only for 1 day.

Reason for constant write-offs

Naturally, it is not limited to one shipment - “automatic communication” with an international number constantly eats up your mobile account for several reasons:

  • Changing the mobile operator - in this case, even configured FaceTime and iMessage begin updating the settings, which does not always happen correctly.
  • Application settings failure due to incorrect download/installation of OS updates.
  • Incorrect settings for sending messages in principle, problems with communication, and the like.
  • In any case, losing several tens of rubles a day is unpleasant even for owners of relatively expensive smartphones from Apple - let’s look into the disabling options.

    How to ban SMS

The question often arises of how to block SMS from unwanted subscribers. Prohibit receiving SMS from different subscribers, perhaps by enabling a special service called “Black List”. It will make it possible to block SMS, as well as incoming calls from an unwanted number. But it should be noted that activation of this option is available only to Megafon users. Instructions:

    • It is necessary to emphasize that before the user blocks the required numbers, he will need to place an order for the service. And only after turning on the “Black List” will the user be able to edit it. To activate this function, you need to dial the USSD command number *130# on your smartphone, and then press the call key. In addition, each Megafon user receives a quickly remembered help desk number 0500. While roaming, calls to such a number are charged, while while on the home network the call is free. It is possible to find out the cost of a roaming call at any operator's showroom.
    • In addition, in order to activate the black list, there is a number that is intended for sending SMS. In the text of such SMS, the text does not need to be specified, the field is left empty. The operator must initially check the user’s request, and only after processing it sends 2 different notifications to the smartphone. The user learns that the Blacklist feature has been ordered and that it is enabled. When the subscriber reads the SMS, you can proceed to editing the list.
    • To block the required numbers, they are added to the list by sending the USSD command *130*+79XXXXXXXXXX# to the operator. When the user wants to send an SMS, the + sign is indicated before the number. When sending a command, it must be specified after 7, there should be 10 digits in total.

Method 1: Block a number directly from a message

The easiest way to block SMS from a specific person is to block them directly from the sent message. To do this, open a message thread in the Android Messages app.

Click the three dots in the top right corner, then select Members & Settings.

Click "Block". A pop-up window will ask you to confirm that you want to block the number, noting that you will no longer receive calls or messages from that person. “Block.”

That's all, the number is blocked.

Method two: block the number manually

If you don't have messages from the person whose number you want to block, you can also manually enter the number to block it. From the main menu, tap the three dots in the top right corner, then select Blocked Contacts.

Click "Add number". Here you just need to indicate the number you want to block, then click “Block”.

That's all. From this moment on, the number will be blocked completely, regardless of which SMS application you use by default.

    How to unblock a number

If you want to unblock a number, simply go to Messages > Blocked Contacts and tap the X next to the number.

To change your default messaging app to the one you used before, simply open it. It should prompt you to set it as your default application. If this does not happen, you can go to Settings > Apps > Default Apps and select your preferred SMS app under Messaging App. If you find it difficult to find this option, you can use our instructions to set the application as default.

You can also enable the spam filter and it will automatically filter messages from unsaved contacts on your phone. To do this, tap on the three vertical dots in the Messages app and then tap Spam and Blocked. Select the SIM card for which you want to enable spam filtering by checking the Anti-spam checkbox. Use the button to turn it on and repeat the operation with another SIM card if you are using dual SIM cards in your phone.

    Banning SMS from DEF numbers

Less often than from short ones, spam SMS messages come from regular federal numbers. Such numbers are called DEF and have the usual format +7(9ХХ)-ХХХ-ХХ-ХХ. Banning SMS from such numbers is a little more difficult, but still possible. In this case, as in the case of short numbers, each number is blocked separately.

    How to set a ban

To block receiving messages from such a number, you must write a statement at an MTS communication salon. In it you will need to indicate the number itself and the text of the message from it. After receiving the application and processing it, which takes place within 5 working days, you will be connected to three at once, “Black List” and “SMS Pro” (free).

    Price

If all three options are connected simultaneously upon application at the MTS office, then no fee will be charged for them. However, if you disable the “Prohibition of receiving SMS messages from DEF numbers” option, a subscription fee will be charged for the remaining 2 services.

    Additional terms

The application must indicate the text of the message. Only in this case will MTS connect you to the free service of unsubscribing from messages. MMS mailings cannot be blocked. If you already have the “SMS Pro” option, it will not be added when writing an application. If you change your phone number, the procedure will need to be repeated. But if you transfer your number to another owner, the connected options will remain.
