Outside the geographic boundaries of Moscow and the Moscow region, home region tariffs are disabled and the subscriber switches to intranet roaming. Many modern tariff plans allow roaming at home rates, but some services (for example, SMS) are charged differently there. The worst situation is for residents of border areas, where the phone can rush from its base station to the guest station.
If we look at the map of MTS’s home region and coverage area, we will find a note that the map was compiled by a computer and does not take into account the peculiarities of radio wave propagation and does not coincide with the geographical boundaries of the area.

Option “Everywhere at home”
When planning to connect the “Home Region” to MTS, users want to count on more favorable tariffs for calls when traveling around Russia. But there is no such service in the operator’s network, but there is a profitable modifier “Like home everywhere”. It is valid for all tariffs, with the exception of those that already have standard tariffs even for travel (these include tariffs from the “Smart” line). Let's see what a subscriber who uses this option will receive:
- Free incoming calls – incoming calls often take up the lion's share of money. On modern tariff plans they are free, but on many tariff plans they are charged;
- 3 rubles/min for calls to phones in your home region - any numbers, both landline and cell phones. These prices apply outside of Moscow and the region;
- All outgoings within Russia 3 rubles/min – an excellent inexpensive intercity outside the home region from MTS;
- 100 SMS per day to any Russian numbers is a worthy addition to such a useful option.
The most attractive thing is that using the option requires the lowest subscription fee. For connection you need to pay 30 rubles, and the daily subscription fee will be only 7 rubles/day, disconnection is free. Let's take a look at how to connect the “Home Region” from MTS (more precisely, the “Like Home Everywhere” option). To do this, you need to dial the USSD command *111*3333# or send an SMS with the text “3333” (without quotes) to the free service number 111.
The easiest way to connect it is through your “Personal Account”, using it from your computer. In order to disable the “Home Region” from MTS, you need to dial the USSD command *111*3333# or send an SMS with the text “33330” (without quotes) to number 111.
If you have returned to your home region and do not intend to leave its borders in the near future, be sure to disable the option. Otherwise, the subscription fee will be wasted. There is no automatic disabling of the option.

The “Home Region” tariff does not exist in MTS, but we have a large number of tariff modifiers to choose from. We have already looked at what the “Everywhere at home” option offers. But it is not suitable for many subscribers. We will therefore consider three alternative proposals.
“Everywhere is like home Smart”
The “Everywhere at Home Smart” option is aimed at subscribers using outdated versions of the “Smart” tariff plans and the current version of the “Smart Mini” tariff. For each tariff, the option offers its own advantages. For example, “Smart Mini” users are offered 1 GB of traffic, 250 minutes to any phones in the home region and MTS numbers throughout Russia, unlimited to MTS numbers in the home zone, as well as free incoming calls.
Users are also provided with 250 text messages and reduced prices for sending CMC to MTS numbers outside their home region (RUB 3.8/piece). The subscription fee is 100 rubles/month for all tariff plans.
“Incoming when traveling around Russia”
If you have to leave the MTS home region, use the “Everywhere at home Smart” modifier. It makes incoming calls free, but only if they are received from MTS phones in the region in which the traveler is located. For example, if you are in the Krasnodar Territory, and they call you from Novosibirsk MTS, then the call will be paid.
The option is quite strange, from the point of view of content, it is useful only to those who have all the subscribers in their phone book using communications from MTS
. But it's free, which is a plus. If you are going to leave your home region, connect the modifier with the USSD command *111*473# or send an SMS with the text “473” to the number 111. Disconnections can be made using a similar command or an SMS with the text “4730”. Messages are sent without quotes.
Upon returning to your home region, MTS will automatically return to the basic tariff. It is not necessary to disable the service.
SMS packages
The package offers “50 SMS when traveling around Russia” and “100 SMS when traveling around Russia” are aimed at those who like to send SMS while in domestic Russian roaming. Message tariffication and connection:
- 50 SMS – 135 rubles, to connect, dial the USSD command *111*124# or send an SMS with the text “124” (without quotes) to service number 111;
- 100 SMS – 180 rubles, to connect, dial the USSD command *111*125# or send an SMS with the text “125” (without quotes) to service number 111.
Messages are valid for 30 days. The modifier works on almost all tariffs, with the exception of tariffs of the “Smart” line. When returning to your MTS home region, the basic home tariff begins to apply
. To check the number of remaining SMS, use the USSD command *100*2#.
Instead of numerous USSD commands and SMS commands, you can use the more convenient MTS “Personal Account”, which is available both in your home region and in intranet roaming.
Internet discounts
Not to mention discounts on the Internet outside the home region of MTS would be a crime against society - many subscribers can easily do without SMS and voice communications, but cannot imagine their life without the World Wide Web. If your TP does not provide traffic that is valid throughout Russia, use the “Super BIT” option. It operates throughout the country and offers 3 GB of Internet traffic. The subscription fee is 350 rubles/month, the same tariff will apply in the home region.
To activate the option, you need to send the USSD command *111*628# or use the “Personal Account”. If you do not need mobile Internet when returning to your home region, be sure to disable this service to avoid being charged an extra subscription fee. For modem owners, we can recommend the “Internet 4 Mbit/s” option, valid throughout Russia (only for the “MTS Connect-4” tariff). It offers access at the specified speed for 750 rubles/month without traffic restrictions.
The downside is that outside the MTS home region, an additional subscription fee of 50 rubles per day will be charged from the number - the same applies to other Internet options for the specified tariff.

Description of the MegaFon Unlimited tariff
The tariff provides for a monthly subscription fee, the amount of which varies depending on the region. For example, subscribers from Moscow and the region will pay 20 rubles daily, and from the Krasnodar Territory - only 11 rubles for the same period. On the official MegaFon website you can get information about the amount of the subscription fee for a particular region.

When connecting to MegaFon Unlimited for the first time or switching from another tariff, the amount for the first 7 days of service is debited from the subscriber’s account. If the package of free calls and SMS is exhausted, the subscriber will pay 1.6 rubles per minute for calls to mobile and landline numbers in the home region and 2.9 rubles for calls to landline and mobile numbers in other regions of Russia. Calls to MegaFon numbers remain free if the subscriber talks for no more than 1440 minutes daily. It is difficult to exceed this figure, since 1440 minutes are equal to 24 hours.
Features of the MegaFon Unlimited tariff plan
The benefits of unlimited Internet traffic can be enjoyed in various regions of Russia. The exceptions are several republics, cities and regions:
- the cities of Sevastopol and Norilsk;
- the Republics of Sakha (Yakutia) and Crimea;
- Magadan and Sakhalin regions;
- Kamchatka Krai;
- Chukotka Autonomous Okrug.
The cost of 1 MB of traffic in these constituent entities of the Russian Federation is 9.9 rubles.
A SIM card with the current MegaFon Unlimited tariff is used only on tablets and smartphones. There is no provision for installing a SIM card on a router or modem and distributing free Internet via Wi-Fi via Bluetooth and USB.
