How to connect and change the home region of a SIM card

Where did the concept of home region come from and what is it?

Not so long ago, national roaming existed in our country - this is when you are in Russia, however, you still pay more than what is indicated in the basic prices. In many countries this is not the case, and there tariffs are fixed regardless of where you are in the country.

How to log into your personal account without a number

However, our country is very large - this is probably why operators decided that it was possible to raise prices for communications outside the home region. This region becomes the one in which the Tele2 SIM card was purchased . And not so long ago, if you bought a SIM card in Moscow and used it in another region - for example, Krasnodar - you were faced with completely different conditions and cost of services.

Fortunately, national roaming has been abolished in our country, and now the cost of communication services does not depend on the region of residence. The exceptions are Crimea and Sevastopol due to some reasons - services there may be provided under different conditions. Otherwise, you can buy a SIM card in any region and use it throughout Russia under the same conditions - as, for example, Iota immediately did even before the adoption of the law abolishing national roaming.

However, the concept of a home region has not gone away. However, in the current conditions it no longer plays such a role in tariffication. Another thing is important: you call a number in the same region in which you are currently located, or a number in another region . In the first case, the tariff will be normal, and in the second, intercity tariffs will be calculated.

Thus, the concept of a home region is important in cases where it is determined whether a subscriber is calling long distance or not. The linking of numbers to regions remains - and the home region will still be considered the one in which the SIM card was issued.

Peculiarities

Tele 2 operates on the territory of 67 constituent entities of the Russian Federation. To facilitate system management, all these regions are divided into macro-regions, each of which includes several areas. They're called:

  • Moscow;
  • South;
  • Chernozem region;
  • Northwest;
  • Ural;
  • Volga region;
  • Siberia;
  • Far East.

You can find out which areas are included in a particular one on the company’s website.

It should be remembered that the management of regional branches has quite a lot of freedom of action. Therefore, prices for certain tariffs may vary in different parts of Russia. Each subject is legally assigned a certain set of numbers in their phone number. Within his region or republic, the user can communicate by phone at preferential rates.

How to change your home region

If you bought a number in one region, but want to live and work in another, the question may arise about changing your home region. Unfortunately, there is no way to do this - your number will still be tied to a specific area.

But you can still buy a SIM card in one region and go to another - after all, national roaming has been cancelled. This is important, because the cost of certain tariffs may vary from region to region. And if you visit areas where prices are lower, it makes sense to buy a SIM card there and go home with it.

Since calls are now divided into long-distance and local calls, it does not matter where you are - it is important that you call numbers in the same area in which you are located. You can buy a number in Sochi, come with it to Moscow - and calls to Moscow numbers will be spent from the package, and calls to Sochi numbers will be charged as intercity. The Internet is now provided in Tele2 throughout the country under the same conditions - with the exception of Crimea.

This approach also has disadvantages. Most often, service salons can only help those clients whose numbers relate to the location of the salon. Thus, if you need to restore a SIM card, re-register a number, terminate a contract, or carry out another complex procedure, you will have to go to the region where you purchased the SIM card. Of course, this is inconvenient. Therefore, it would be good if another law was adopted - on the possibility of changing the home region.

But so far there are no such conversations. This is probably due to technical difficulties - after all, numbers are attached to certain areas for a reason. However, porting a number from operator to operator also seemed like a complicated procedure. However, now it is something commonplace. In general, all we can do is hope and wait. In the meantime, unfortunately, it is not possible to completely change your home region in Russia .

Competitors' tariffs

You cannot change the region of your phone SIM card, but you can choose a different product or switch to a different operator. For comparison, you should consider the offer of other operators - Megafon and MTS. “Turn On” line from Megafon:

NameTraffic, GBminutesSMSprice, rub.Additional features

"Have Fun"30600600Unlimited messengers and social networks

"Speak"5600550Calls to all numbers in Russia

Layout from the MTS operator, “All MTS” line:

"Giga"unlimited50001002490Unlimited calls to MTS, 140 IP-TV channels
"Sputnik" TVunlimited1000197 TV channels, 4G network, speed up to 10 Mb/s

Any kind of manipulation with a SIM card can only be carried out in the territory where it was issued. If a person wants to get a SIM card from a different zone, he will have to sign a new contract with the provider, and the digital value of the phone will change. Alternative: change the tariff product, switch to service from another company, or issue an additional card and synchronize it with the main number.

How to find out your Tele2 home region

If you don’t know what region the SIM card is issued in, then there are several ways to find out its home region:

  • find an agreement on the provision of communication services - it must indicate the address of the point where the SIM card was issued;
  • Dial the combination from any Tele2 number: *190*phone number# – the number is entered through an eight. For example – *190*89512345678# – press call and find out your home region and operator. The command is executed free of charge.
  • use one of the free Internet services - for example, https://www.kody.su/check-tel. Copy the address into the address bar and go to the site - then enter the number in the appropriate field and press Enter. You will find out the region of registration of the number and the operator to which it currently belongs.

The concept of a home region is gradually becoming a thing of the past - the abolition of national roaming has had a major impact on this. However, we will not be able to escape it completely for a long time. Therefore, it is important to know what the home region is in Tele2 and other telecom operators. We hope this article helped you understand everything.

Connection

The transaction procedure itself is standard. The user only needs to purchase a SIM card and sign an agreement by choosing a tariff plan. Among the latter, the greatest opportunities for using mobile communications within your area are provided by the tariffs of the “Moy” line. By choosing one of them, the user receives:

  • Unlimited conversations within the system within the constituent entity of Russia;
  • Unlimited communication with subscribers connected to this operator throughout the Russian Federation;
  • Unlimited access to social networks;
  • Internet traffic recruitment;
  • Package for SMS.

How to connect to the “My” tariff plan in your Tele 2 home region and get access to unlimited? You can do this by typing the appropriate command:

  • *630*3# for the “My Online” tariff;
  • *630*1# for the “My Tele 2” plan;
  • *630*4# for the “My Online Plus” tariff;
  • *630*2# for the “My Conversation” tariff plan.

These tariffs have become quite popular and are widely used by owners of mobile phones and gadgets.

Internet while traveling is like home

The standard cost of traffic in roaming is quite expensive for users, so when traveling around Russia and foreign countries, subscribers are encouraged to use the Internet by connecting to a special package on preferential terms.

"SuperBit" for use in Russia. For 350 rub. 3 GB of traffic is available to the user per month for the same period.

“BIT abroad” the fee for use is from 450 rubles. per day, unlimited traffic in popular countries is available as part of the offer.

Those users who use tariff plans with packaged gigabytes of traffic, when connecting to the services listed below, will have access to the Internet within the package as at home.

Why is all this called "roaming cancellation"

The FAS order to cancel roaming was vague, notes analyst Eldar Murtazin.

Eldar Murtazin, analyst:

— Initially, the FAS wanted operators to “change tariffs for communication services while traveling,” and then it became a requirement that operators “eliminate the unreasonable difference in the same communication services that subscribers receive at home and while traveling.”

It appears that the operators have implemented the described requirement to the letter. They began to receive additional orders.

Discounts for Internet use

We must not forget about the discounts provided to users while moving. It is important to tell about them. Most people can easily cope with not being able to send a message or even make a call, but not being able to access the Internet is tantamount to Armageddon. If you do not have traffic operating in different parts of the country, use “Super BIT”. This option is valid everywhere in Russia and provides three GB of traffic. The monthly payment is three hundred and fifty rubles. The prices will be exactly the same at home.

To connect it, dial *111*628# or do everything in your “Personal Account”. After you arrive home and you no longer need the Internet on your mobile phone, do not forget to disable the option. Otherwise, you will continue to be charged money for the service provided. If you have a modem that you use and you are connected to the MTS Connect-4 tariff plan, we recommend connecting to “Internet 4 Mbit/s”. This option works throughout the Russian Federation. For 750 rubles per month you get an unlimited amount of traffic.

The disadvantage is that you are charged an additional monthly fee (fifty rubles per day) if you are not at home. This applies to all options if you are on this TP.

Options for traveling around the country

Those who like to visit other cities can activate special options that will save money on calls. During frequent business trips around the country, trips to friends and relatives, tourism, you can connect to the following services:

  • "All Russia". The first connection does not require payment. Each reconnection of the service costs 30 rubles. The daily subscription fee is 10 rubles. The cost per minute of an incoming call is 3 rubles to all numbers except your region. For example, if a MegaFon subscriber’s region is Moscow, then the cost outside the Moscow Region will be 3 rubles per minute. All calls received to the subscriber's number cost 0 rubles.
  • "Vacation without worries." For those who go on vacation to Crimea and the city of Sevastopol. The coverage area is limited to these regions. The daily fee is 33 rubles, all calls to the subscriber's number are included in this price.

Options allow you to save money on cellular communications when you are outside your region.

Phone numbers

Determining the region is not difficult; it is enough for MegaFon to know what code the telephone number begins with in different territories and regions.

  • The capital and Moscow region contain the first digits: -925, -929, -926, -936-6;
  • Each Central District number begins: -920, -930, -929-0;
  • The Volga region begins with the numbers -938, -927, -929-3;
  • For the Far Eastern District, MegaFon communication codes are 924, -929-4, -934-4;
  • Ural – 922, -932, -929-2;
  • Northern Caucasus – 928, -938, -929-8;
  • In Siberia, numbers begin: -929-3, -933, -923;
  • Subscriber numbers for the North-Western District are 929-1, -931, -929, -921.

Having information about MegaFon's code, the subscriber will know from which region they are calling him.

Why did such a division appear?

Over the past year, many mobile operators have begun to introduce tariff plans, under the terms of which there is no division into local or long-distance numbers. With these tariffs you can make calls to any Russian numbers at a single cost. However, if you analyze all the current tariff plans from the main operators, then for now this is more a rarity than a rule.

The division of the cost of calls by region has always been, and this applies not only to cellular communications, but also to fixed-line telephony providers.

Those who have been using cellular communications for decades remember that the difference in the cost of a call could be not only in terms of local or long-distance parameters. So, on old cellular tariffs there is a division by city. For example, in the capital region, different call costs were set for telephones in Moscow and in the region.

However, most users are accustomed to separating calls in two directions - home and other.

The situation changed after intranet roaming was abolished. Now, all subscribers can use communications at home rates not only in the region of connection, but also in others throughout the country where there is a network of their operator.

Calls to local phone numbers

On most tariff offers of Russian cellular operators, it is possible to make calls and send messages at a price that differs in direction - local and long-distance, mobile and landline phone numbers in Russia. Depending on the tariff, the cost of a call to local and numbers of other operators in the Russian Federation may differ several times.

Considering the difference in the cost of calls to different numbers, it is important for the subscriber to know which numbers are local and which are long-distance. We tell you what it means in the tariff conditions for calls to local numbers and other operators in Russia, how to understand that a mobile or landline number is a local one, and how this affects the cost of communication when traveling around the country.
