In turn, on December 29, 2021, the operator Vodafone Ukraine officially announced that it would forcibly transfer all subscribers living in the occupied territory of Donbass to the “Smartphone Standard” tariff costing 3 UAH per day for unlimited calls within the network and 50 MB of daily Internet traffic. This news caused the expected indignation, since previously many subscribers in the region paid half as much for communications - about 40-50 UAH per month.

After some time, the operator Vodafone Ukraine met subscribers in ORDLO and returned to the tariff the option to pay the subscription fee for the entire month at once in the amount of 60 UAH. However, this was where the concessions ended and the operator confirmed that a forced transfer would be carried out, explaining the reasons for this decision.

“The company will not introduce new special tariffs, but the transfer of all subscribers in ORDLO to one of the previously existing tariffs - Smartphone Standard will be carried out,” commented the press service of Vodafone Ukraine.

As the company's support service previously reported, transferring subscribers to one tariff is associated with high costs. According to company representatives, remote servicing of subscriber numbers in unstable network conditions is associated with additional costs. In particular, more than a third of the base stations in ORDLO are already out of order.

But, as it turned out, there is another reason. According to the agreement between the Ukrainian operator (before the rebranding of MTS Ukraine) and the international Vodafone group, the former does not have the right to use Vodafone products in occupied or uncontrolled territories. Because of this, the company did not sell its tariff plans there under the Vodafone branding, and most residents of ORDLO used the old MTS tariffs.

But since subscribers still bought and transported Vodafone starter packs to ORDLO and used them, this created the preconditions for violation of the contract and potential imposition of fines for the operator. As a result, the company decided to restore order by transferring all ORDLO subscribers to one tariff during the first quarter of 2021.

“Naturally, we simply won’t be able to become Vodafone then. This is a mandatory requirement of the terms of the contract, the details of which I cannot disclose,” answered Oleg Prozhyvalsky, director of corporate governance and control of the company, when asked about the existence of fines.

As the manager said, the operator will automatically transfer to a single tariff everyone who ends up in the occupied territory with a Vodafone tariff. At the same time, when moving to a controlled territory, users will be able to change the tariff plan to any one available from the operator in this area.

It is interesting that the forced transfer of residents of ORDLO to a single tariff did not arouse suspicion among the NKRSI and the AMCU. Representatives of regulators noted that this process, from their point of view, is not a violation, which means that no measures will be taken against Vodafone Ukraine.

In each of these plans, you can use 50 minutes a day for free, and each additional minute is valued at 50 kopecks. You will have to pay the same amount for each minute of conversation when calling to other networks.

The service provider offers packages of SMS messages - 50 pieces per day. Anything that is used more than this must be paid for 50 kopecks per piece. You can send messages abroad for 3 hryvnia.

The packages differ in the number of megabytes available for use on the network. There are fewer of these - 50 MB - in the "S" plan. The “M” tariff has 5 GB, and the “L” tariff has 10 GB.

The last two allow the subscriber to use the messenger and social networks unlimited and free of charge. For the “Device S” tariff plan, this opportunity is limited and amounts to 50 MB per day.

Tariffs "Light +"

The simplest and most accessible plan for every Ukrainian can be called the “Vodafone Light Plus” plan in the Lugansk region 2021. The main condition for comfortable use of this is to top up your account with 35 hryvnia once a month. In exchange for this currently insignificant amount, the subscriber receives:

  • absolutely free and unlimited communication within the network;
  • 500 MB for using high-speed 3G Internet; after using this limit, the subscriber has access to unlimited 2G (features slightly lower download speed);
  • 60 minutes per month for use on calls from subscribers of other mobile operators;
  • 50 SMS/mms per day for a separate surcharge - 1.5 hryvnia per day.

You can call abroad with “Light +” for 3 hryvnia per minute.

A special feature of the tariff plan is that the subscriber does not have to wait a whole month to order the offered package of services. This can be done if necessary using the combination *101*444 #.
