A telephone number is no longer just a means of communication between people, but also an identification of each individual person in a huge number of Internet services. There are situations when you want to change your identifier (for example, if the number is in the spammers database). But since a modern city dweller can have hundreds of contacts, an acute question arises: how to change your number without severing ties with dozens of acquaintances and colleagues with whom you cannot contact personally?

You can always buy a new SIM card at the first store you come across, but then you will lose all your accumulated contacts. But when this option is activated, all subscribers calling the previous number receive a notification that the number has been changed. Thus, if you cannot personally warn every friend, the above service will automatically do this for you.

To connect numbers from other countries, you need to contact service representatives via Skype, email or through the feedback form. Payment is made only for one SMS.

How the service works

You can configure the option as you wish. The principle of operation of the option is very simple: subscribers trying to call your previous, now inactive number, receive a text message notifying that you have changed the contact + your new number. Your provider will also notify you of an incoming call via SMS to a new number.

For a successful connection, the SIM card must meet several conditions:

• It must be active and not in a blocked state.
• Before replacing the card, you must enable forwarding to the service on the previous number
• Both cards, former and current, must not have a negative or zero balance.

The service does not require payment, it is activated free of charge and unlimited. However, at the connection stage it still requires the presence of some funds in the personal account, since the service can be activated only with a positive balance.

The standard period of validity of the service is 60 days from the moment of connection. After its expiration, you can extend the term for another two months free of charge at any time.

Changing your number to Tinkoff Mobile

Tinkoff Mobile is a mobile operator that is just beginning to develop, but even now, in the early stages, it can offer the client quite decent services and opportunities. Among them is changing the phone number, which occurs remotely. The price category is of particular importance; it will depend on whether the combination of numbers is simple or not. The list is quite wide, starting from 100 rubles and ending with 25,000 rubles.

You can select a new number on the Tinkoff Mobile website or in the official application.

Change instructions

In the mobile application, click on the gear next to your personal number and select “Change number”. There you will be given a wide selection, sorted by price. To carry out this operation, on the official website you will need to visit the “Mobile” tab, then “Beautiful numbers”, and in this window select the one that appeals to you most.

Service cost

If you purchase a standard number, which is in the “Free” category, then you will only have to pay the amount for the service – 100 rubles. If the client chooses paid, then the amount of the service is canceled and he pays only for the number. At the moment there is a choice from 490 rubles to 24,900.

How to connect

The option can be activated by a subscriber of almost any tariff if he still has an old SIM card from MTC that is not in a blocked state.

Activation of the “My new number” option is carried out in four stages:

• Turn on the device with a new SIM card from MTS and enter on the phone keyboard a USSD combination of sixteen characters, format: *250*0123456789#, where “0123456789” is your previous number in the format of ten characters, without the “eight”.
• Confirm the activation of the service via a message that will arrive within a few seconds.
• Next, insert the previous SIM card into the device and confirm the service activation by sending a USSD request in the following format: **21*+01234567890#, where “+01234567890” is the number to activate the option received in cm
• Finally, return the new SIM card to the device. From now on you can use it on a regular basis.

When activated for the first time, the service is automatically connected in 2-way information mode. This means that when there is an incoming call to your previous card, not only you (the owner) will receive notifications about the call, but also the calling users themselves will learn that you have changed your number. If you want to change the notification mode, use the commands that will be discussed a little later.

Activation and deactivation methods

In essence, the function is a redirection from an old number to a service one. It is provided free of charge to any Megafon client.

Let's look at the steps to connect step by step:

1. After installing a new SIM card, dial the USSD command *270*previously valid phone#call. Or send the data via SMS to 5037. You will receive a forwarding telephone number in response.

Note that dialing must be done without 8 or +7. That is, start 922ххххххх .

1. Enable unconditional forwarding on your old phone in any way: in the device settings or via USSD request **21*service number #. Here the dialing format is +79ххххххххх.
2. Start communicating with your new SIM card.

To make the option stop working, you can cancel all types of forwarding in the settings or use the USSD command.

The notification will work for 3 months, after which it will turn itself off. You will receive a notice of disconnection three days in advance.

How to configure the option

If you urgently need to change your phone number, or it is a forced change as a result of the loss or theft of your phone, or the old SIM card is simply outdated and needs to be replaced, or you simply wanted to choose a more beautiful or memorable number. In all of these cases, the most important thing is to keep in touch with all your contacts, even if you are not close enough to tell them the new number personally.

This function completely solves this problem. It applies to the numbers of all four major providers (Beeline, Tele2, Megafon and MTC) and is used in any place of stay, including outside the home region. The subscriber can change the service settings at any time to make its operation more comfortable for himself and for callers. You can choose one of three operating modes of the service:

• The first mode is “two-way” and is set by default upon first connection. When an incoming call is made to the old number, the subscriber is answered by a voice assistant, which notifies him that the recipient of the call has changed his number and is reciting. In addition, the caller receives a text message from MTS with the current number. You, in turn, will receive an SMS notification that your number was called at such and such a time and from such and such a number. The service is completely free and has no time limits.
• The second mode is “one way”. When calling a former number, the caller will hear a standard system message stating that the phone is currently unavailable. He himself does not receive any information, but you receive a message notifying you that a call attempt has occurred. If you wish, you can call back yourself, or you can ignore it. This is the most radical option if you want to completely cut yourself off from old contacts.
• The third mode is “by choice”. Addition to the previous version. During an incoming call, the subscriber also remains unaware of the number change, and you receive an SMS, which, in addition to the caller’s contacts, indicates information that you can use the service.

This way you can select people who will have access to your contact. You can control your social circle by creating a kind of “white list” of people with whom you want to keep in touch and from whom you want to isolate yourself as much as possible. Those people with whom you do not want to keep in touch will not know that you have a new number and, of course, that you yourself are in trouble, that they were trying to reach you.

USSD commands for service management

As already mentioned, the “My New Number” function works in three modes. If you wish, you can select any of them, for which you need to send a special USSD command.

• Combination to activate 2-way mode: *250*2# + “Call” button.
• Combination to activate 1-way mode: *250*1# + “Call” button.
• Combination to activate the mode of your choice: *250*3# + “Call” button.

You can activate this option for five of your previous SIM cards at once. The function, which works in parallel on different SIM cards, will allow you to quickly receive information about calls to all previous numbers. This is relevant for those who often change SIM cards and have an extensive contact database.
