The situation when, after calling a certain phone number, an answering machine answers you and says that the subscriber is temporarily unavailable, is quite common.
At the same time, the problem itself can lie in a variety of reasons - a bad network, a person is already talking to someone, or your smartphone has poor network reception.
In the previous article, we looked in detail at what a gyroscope is. Today you will learn what it means when the answering machine says - the subscriber is temporarily unavailable, call back later when you dial someone, and in what cases this phrase is said.
Important! The phrase is pronounced absolutely the same for all cellular operators: MTS, TELE2, Megafon and Beeline. Plus, it often alternates with another phrase - the subscriber’s device is turned off or is out of network coverage. They usually mean the same thing.
Why is the called party not answering?
Let's look at the reasons in more detail.
- Phone battery power is exhausted. This is one of the most common reasons for a person’s temporary absence from the mobile network. This problem can be solved by purchasing an auxiliary charger, such as a Power Bank. You also need to constantly maintain the phone's charge level in order to answer calls on time.
- Leaving the network coverage area. In this case, the user is in a place where the signal from cell towers is either very weak or completely absent. This is why the subscriber cannot answer an incoming call. Such places are found both in megacities and in suburban areas. To solve this, you just need to get out of such a zone.
- The man turned off his phone for personal reasons. For example, during a meeting in almost all companies it is necessary to turn off phones for a certain time so that the call does not interfere with the discussion of issues. Turning off mobile devices is required in many places to avoid interrupting work or entertainment, such as in a movie theater. Therefore, it is recommended to wait a while and then make the call again.
- The gadget may be broken or stolen. Similar situations with mobile devices occur quite often - they can be dropped on the asphalt, accidentally dropped into water, or doused with something. In addition, there are often cases of theft, in which case it is enough to just remove the SIM card and calls to the phone will not be received. After such incidents, it will be impossible to contact the subscriber until he purchases a new device.
- User on a trip abroad. Due to the fact that using your number in international roaming mode is quite expensive, many subscribers purchase temporary SIM cards from local mobile operators. At the same time, communication costs will decrease, but there will be a problem with answering calls.
- The subscriber did not have time to pick up the phone. In this case, voice mail can be connected to the number. Therefore, if the call button is not pressed within 20 seconds, the answering machine starts working and will offer to leave a message after the signal.
- The mobile device is in airplane mode. The phone system will block incoming calls. The caller will also hear a prompt to leave a message after the beep.
The subscriber can simply add a person to the black list. That is, he does not want to communicate with the person who called, which is why he added him to the ignore list. This issue can only be resolved personally; the network is powerless here.
There are many reasons why a subscriber may not have access to a phone. The caller needs to either make the call later or meet the caller in person.
What does the outgoing signal route of a mobile phone mean?
In the days of regular landline phones, everything was quite simple and clear. There is a device that processes signals, which is connected by wires through which the signal is transmitted. This whole structure worked stably if two components were in order - the telephone and the wire. With the advent of mobile phones, the principle of communication between two (or more) subscribers has become much more functional and complex.
Before you begin your conversation with the person you are calling, your signal goes through several stages. The first stage is the passage of your mobile signal to the base station (also called a tower). Such towers serve as amplifiers of your signal to transmit it over longer distances.
The next stage is the signal passage from the base station to the switch. This is the central repository of all information about the subscriber, tariff plan, availability of funds, the region from which the call is made, etc. And the last step in the route of your signal is to transfer it from the switch to the current network or, if the subscriber is outside the network, transmits a signal to another network. When the connection is established, the signal returns to you again.
This communication device is quite reliable, although it does have its weak links. In the scheme described above, this is the first stage, i.e. signal passage from your device to the base station.

The meaning of standard autoinformant phrases
The answering machines of various cellular companies use several standard offers in cases where it is impossible to establish a connection with a specific number. They look like this.
- The phrase “Subscriber is temporarily unavailable, call back later” is used in cases where the subscriber’s mobile device suddenly turns off. However, the signal to leave the mobile network was not sent to the station. This usually occurs due to lack of charge or a broken phone.
- The sentence “The subscriber’s device is turned off or is out of network coverage” means that the person being called turned off the phone on their own. In this case, the device will send a warning message to the station. This phrase can also be used when the user has left the network coverage area.
- The voice message “This person is currently unable to answer your call” may sound because the device is turned off or is in an area with poor signal reception.
- The phrase “Subscriber is temporarily blocked” will be used if the call is made to a blocked number.
- The “Wrong number dialed” prompt will appear because the user is calling a number that is not assigned to the subscriber or is dialed in the wrong format. It is necessary to correct the error in the number symbols.
- The message “Network is overloaded” can be dictated on holidays or when a person is present at a crowded conference or other event. Mobile networks cannot serve all customers on days like these. Therefore, some of them may hear this phrase. It is recommended to repeat the call after some time.
In almost all cases, you can make a follow-up call and get back to the person. This is due to the fact that contact is restored within a short period of time.
Trite, but real: the subscriber is having a conversation with another
The first and main reason is that the line is busy because the person is talking with someone else. But such a development of events is possible if he has an antediluvian push-button telephone. Why? If you know all the functionality of a smartphone, then you know about its multi-channel nature. The call on the other line can be accepted or rejected, or you can simply ignore it, so long beeps will continue if you are calling on a smartphone.
Another option is that a person has 2 SIM cards and has turned off calls when talking from another card. And you call just the first one. Wait a certain time and call back.
When a subscriber is temporarily unavailable
The subscriber may be unavailable in the following cases:
- the most common reason is that the user simply left the network coverage area, ended up in an area where the signal does not reach or where it is too weak to make a connection;
- a network error in which the answering machine is interrupted and sends a signal that the subscriber is unavailable;
- The phone number is entered in the wrong format, for example, instead of the number 8 or +7, 7 without the plus sign is entered.
In addition, there may be station congestion. This happens on holidays. In this case, both the user and the connection will be unavailable, since the towers are overloaded.

The technical error
As the number of mobile operators grows, unfortunately, it is not so much the quality of coverage and communication that grows, but the number of various failures. Moreover, this applies even to the most famous operators, such as MTS, Beeline and others.
Most often, such large-scale failures occur during the New Year holidays, when subscribers rush to congratulate loved ones with a glass of champagne and fireworks. This happens simultaneously, so the networks cannot withstand such a load.
Not all operators report that the network is overloaded, so it may appear that the number is busy or the call was dropped. What to do? You can try to call all the time until you can get through.
Other reasons
Have you heard the voice message “The number you dialed is not available” again? This means that we should not forget about the following possible reasons that cannot be avoided by any subscriber:
- The interlocutor forgot to top up his account;
- The subscriber turned off the phone for personal reasons or due to low battery;
- The Megafon SIM card has broken down - due to expiration date or due to mechanical impact.
You cannot influence such reasons - you just have to wait a little until the functionality of the Megafon number is restored.
Feedback and problem solving
We will never leave you alone with the problem that has arisen and will help you solve it. In the form below, you can leave your comment and ask a question related to the topic, we, in turn, will try to provide a comprehensive answer to it soon. If you have an ambiguous situation, you can also contact the support service of the Megafon operator using a short number within the network (calls within Russia are free).
What actions will you need to take to activate the “Voicemail” option?
In order to activate an additional service through which a person can leave voice messages, you will need to dial the combination: *845#, then you need to press the “Call” phone button. After the USSD command is sent, the Megafon subscriber must dial the short number “222” and call it, where all the necessary information will be provided. It will contain a description of instructions for setting a password and recording your own greeting on a connected answering machine. Therefore, you need to listen to all the information very carefully.
The next step is call forwarding. If you decide to install this function on your phone, the answering machine will not be able to work correctly even after activation. To troubleshoot problems, you will need to dial the following combination - **forwarding condition code*.
Phone breakdown or SIM card failure
When, after a beep, they say that the subscriber is busy, it is possible that his phone has “played the box.” This means that the user has dropped, wet, or otherwise damaged their device. It is impossible to completely protect and secure the device from this, so first find out the reason why you are constantly unable to get through by phone, and then make a claim. By the way, your phone is also not “iron” (even if it is) and the problem may be with you - try calling someone else. If you can’t get through to anyone, contact the service for repairs.
To test your SIM card, insert it into another phone. If everything works, the problem is not there, deal with the device.
So, if you have heard more than one short beep and were unable to call where you need to, there are plenty of options for solving this problem. Choose yours. If for the same reason you do not accept incoming messages, you will have to contact the operator or repairmen.

Why is he doing this? About the blacklist
The favorite option of a number of subscribers is “Black List”. But it was not there. If you absolutely need to get through to a person, you can “go around the mountain” and avoid restrictions. Follow the instructions:
- Write an SMS and ask to be removed from the emergency situation. Turn on message delivery notifications in advance.
- Check if you are in an emergency by calling from another number. If the person decides to answer you, you can find out whether you fell out of favor by accident or on purpose.
- 21st century, guys! We use Viber, WhatsApp, Telegram, Skype - organize a regular or video call. Online regulars can write or send an audio message even via Instagram direct (if you haven’t been banned there either).
