Why SMS messages don’t arrive on your phone: solving problems with the Megafon SMS center

Problem with SMS center

Any SMS sent goes through the operator’s server, which acts as an intermediary between two subscribers.
For successful communication, both users must be connected to the service center. If there are no settings, the recipient will be considered unregistered in the Megafon network and will not be able to receive messages. Practice shows that most often this problem occurs after replacing the SIM card. To activate the SMS center on any mobile device, you need to dial the USSD command *5005*7672* 79262909090#. Another solution to the problem is to enter the number in the system message settings section.

After replacing the SIM card, check that the settings are correct.

  1. Message set section.
  2. Settings (options).
  3. Settings → Advanced → SMS.
  4. Enter the number of the MegaFon center (Moscow): 79262909090.

Even if the correct combination is entered, rewrite the numbers again.

Why SMS is not sent on Megafon

SMS messages do not arrive to Megafon - a problem that any subscriber of one of the largest mobile operators may encounter. The situation should be solved by searching for the cause, and eliminating the problem in each specific case is different.

On the eve of major holidays, delays in the delivery of messages on the Megafon network occur. It is possible that the expected SMS is delayed due to congestion in the cellular network, and you need to wait for some time.

The main reasons why SMS does not arrive on a megaphone phone are as follows:

  1. It is possible that there was a glitch in the SMS service settings on your phone. You should check that the number of the SMS center through which messages are exchanged between subscribers is filled out correctly. If the number is incorrect or missing, the service on the phone will not work.
    You should check the latest information on the official website or through the help desk of the regional operator.
    • To manually view the SMS center number, go to the official MegaFon website,
    • then go to the Support section,

  2. then SMS and MMS,

  4. The problem may be with the device's SIM card. Sometimes rebooting the system resolves the current situation. If rebooting the device does not solve the problem with SMS delivery, it is recommended to check the functionality of the card in another phone. A faulty card can be easily replaced at the nearest Megafon communication store;
  5. Another reason why SMS Megafon does not arrive may be a ban on incoming messages. You can cancel the option by sending a request #330*0000# or calling the hotline.

The causes of the problem and methods of solution are identical to the points listed above.

In conclusion, it should be noted that users often make a mistake when dialing the recipient number of a message: they confuse the sequence of numbers or forget to preface the number with a set of characters 7 or 8 (in Russia). To send SMS to subscribers of foreign operators, the number is dialed using the international format: (country code) (cellular operator) (telephone number).

MegaFon SMS does not arrive after changing SIM card

A common problem is also the case when letters do not arrive on the mobile device. You can figure it out yourself by finding out what the reason is. Difficulties may be as follows:

  • the subscriber who sends the message entered the number of the desired user incorrectly, missed the number +7 or 8;
  • the operator may not be able to cope with the load, you should wait a while and send the SMS again;
  • The device memory is filled with unnecessary data, as a result of which the letter cannot be saved there;
  • There may be a restriction on SMS reception in your phone settings; you will need to adjust the parameters.

If these options do not help identify the problem, you need to personally contact the provider’s employees at the communication center or technical support.

Other reasons

Messages may not be received due to the subscriber being outside the coverage area of a certain type of base station: for example, the user may be located in the territory of third generation networks, although 2G networks are required for successful SMS delivery. You can check the coverage map here.

The user is recommended to check the internal memory of the mobile device: perhaps incoming SMS cannot be received due to the lack of space on the device to store them. Memory control is carried out through the system settings menu.

Now you know why SMS messages do not arrive on Megafon and what to do to fix the problem. If attempts to independently solve the problem have not yielded positive results, then it is recommended to seek advice from technical support by calling the toll-free number 8 (800) 550-05-00.

Check the number you called from

  • On push-button phones and old smartphones, the reason for the lack of incoming SMS may be a lack of memory. The problem is solved by deleting old messages and unused applications.
  • Technical and system malfunctions of the mobile device in which the SIM card of the Megafon operator is placed can prevent the reception of messages. In this case, you need to either repair the device or buy a new one.
  • When purchasing or replacing a Sim card, an automatic connection to the SMS exchange service occurs within 24 hours. During this period, wonder why SMS Megafon does not arrive? - meaningless.

Reasons for No Text Messages

If SMS messages do not arrive to Megafon, you need to first find out the reason for this. The simplest is an overload of the Megafon communication service. This can often happen during major holidays. There is no point in considering any advice here, because messages arrive in any case, only with a delay, you just need to be patient.

Another reason why SMS messages do not arrive on your phone may be that the device’s memory is overloaded. To correct the situation, you just need to clear the memory on your mobile phone. In the future, such problems can be avoided by monitoring the state of memory and monitoring free space.

In addition, if SMS messages do not arrive on your phone, then the reason may be directly in the SIM card itself. It is quite easy to detect such a problem. It’s worth trying to move the card to another phone and check it for damage. If this fact is confirmed, then you need to visit the Megafon operator salon and change your SIM card for free.

If the above methods did not help, then most likely the subscriber has a ban on incoming text messages. This is common with closed plan corporate plans. But if your number is regular, then you need to call the operator and ask to cancel the service. Or there may be a typo. The subscriber sending the SMS may have simply mixed up some numbers in the recipient's number.

Megafon SMS messages won't go away? To find out whether the smartphone is to blame for the problem, you should do the following:

  • Move the SIM card to another device;
  • Try sending again;
  • If everything went well, then the problem is in your device.

To “treat” the problem you need to:

  • Find instructions for your smartphone;
  • Set the settings according to the data given in the manual.

Now you know why SMS messages from Megafon are not sent and how you can fix this unpleasant problem in a few clicks.

Lifting bans

Megafon subscribers have the opportunity to block the receipt of messages from some recipients: in this case we are talking about banning SMS from organizations that use short numbers to send advertisements. To remove restrictions, you will need to send a special USSD request #330* for the user password #.

By default, four units are used as a password - if the subscriber has changed this code and cannot remember the new combination, you will need to contact the nearest operator’s office for help and restore access by manually resetting the user settings. It is worth noting that after sending the USSD command, the mobile device must be rebooted.

1111 – network password. If changed, ask your technical support operator to reset the combination. The command cancels possible restrictions that were previously set (intentionally or accidentally).

Limitations in phone settings

The reason why SMS does not work on Megafon, the data arrives with a delay or several times in a row lies in unsuccessful firmware. You can change the situation:

  • Contact the brand's service center;
  • The specialist will update the firmware and the problem will disappear.

Often the problem when SMS does not arrive on your Megafon phone is due to lack of memory on the device:

  • Open the messages menu;
  • Remove unnecessary data (for example, mailings);
  • All lost messages will be sent to your mobile phone if there is free space.

Now let's look at what to do if SMS messages do not arrive on your Megafon phone due to problems with the SIM card.

In some cases, the user blocks incoming SMS by changing the phone settings, not the SIM card. You can make sure that the cause of the problem is hidden in the device by checking the identification chip in another device - if on the new gadget SMS are received as usual, then after returning the SIM card to the first smartphone you will need:

  • check the blacklist settings;
  • make sure that there is no ban on receiving SMS messages;
  • Check your push notification settings.

The solution to the problem may be to restart the device's operating system.

Connection

The first reason why SMS messages do not arrive to Megafon is problems with network coverage. There are small local areas where there is no connection even in big cities. What can be done?

  • Be sure to check your network access if you are sending or expecting an important message;
  • As soon as you leave the area where there is no signal, messages will be sent to your mobile phone.

The second reason why SMS messages do not reach Megafon is that the subscriber is outside the network coverage area. Let's tell you how the delivery process works:

  • The sent message is recorded in the operator’s databases;
  • Then it is sent to the subscriber's number.

If the user has turned off the mobile phone or is in an area where there is no connection, the message will not be delivered. Remember that the data storage period is one day. If you turn on your phone after a longer period of time, you may never receive the information.

Now you know why Megafon does not receive SMS due to communication interruptions. Let's consider what to do if the reason lies in the smartphone.

No money in account

Error 38 is a lack of funds on the user’s balance necessary for sending.

By the way, if you don’t have the opportunity to top up your balance in the near future, but have access to the Internet, you can send a free SMS using the Megafon online service.

Why doesn't Megafon send SMS if you have deposited money into your balance? Perhaps the reason lies in the restrictions on the smartphone. Error 38 may indicate a failure in the communication channels. Try the following:

Please note that these instructions are not relevant for all smartphones!

Telephone

Owners of the following brands often complain that SMS messages do not reach Megafon:

  • ZTE;
  • Huawei;
  • Lenovo.

The reason why SMS does not work on Megafon, the data arrives with a delay or several times in a row lies in unsuccessful firmware. You can change the situation:

  • Contact the brand's service center;
  • The specialist will update the firmware and the problem will disappear.

Often the problem when SMS does not arrive on your Megafon phone is due to lack of memory on the device:

  • Open the messages menu;
  • Remove unnecessary data (for example, mailings);
  • All lost messages will be sent to your mobile phone if there is free space.

Now let's look at what to do if SMS messages do not arrive on your Megafon phone due to problems with the SIM card.

Why don’t I receive SMS messages on my phone from banks, services, friends and how to fix it

Read why SMS messages from banks, services and friends are not received on your phone. All the reasons. Instructions on how to fix it for MTS, Megafon phones and any operators.

If you notice that you have stopped receiving messages on your phone, you need to take immediate action. After all, SMS often contains important information from banks and people close to you. The problem may be hidden both in the phone itself and in the telecom operator to which you are connected. SMS messages may not arrive on your phone for various reasons; we will analyze each situation separately.

SIM card

If the mobile phone was blocked by the subscriber independently for a certain reason, you must:

  • Open the device keyboard;
  • Dial code *105*156*0# ;
  • Press the call key.

Open your personal account to make sure that you have not activated incoming data blocking services:

  • Log in to your account via the website or mobile application;
  • Open the “Services and Options” block;

  • From the two options, select “My”;

  • Explore the connected options;
  • If you find a blocking service, disable it in any convenient way.

If the number is blocked by the operator for reasons beyond your control, try:

  • Call the support service at 0500;
  • Wait for the operator to respond and voice the question.

Please note that if the blocking lasted more than 24 hours, some of the data may be irretrievably lost.

There is a ban on messages

The forwarding service will not work if the user is blocked. The client can connect it accidentally or activate it intentionally. But if the client no longer requires the service, he must refuse it. To do this, it is first recommended to go to the company portal and log in to the system. Next, you need to find the section with active services and select a specific function. If the ban is active, it should be removed. The user is then advised to reboot the device. After this, the cell phone will start receiving content again.

When a personal profile is not available, a service command can be used. On your smartphone, dial the code *330*password#. The device should be restarted, and the text will be sent to the phone again.

  • note
  • The standard password is the set of numbers “1111”. If the user decides to replace it, you will need to indicate the code that the subscriber came up with. Restoring parameters is only possible at the company's office.

SMS center settings

Any SMS on Megafon is processed by a special center, which acts as a connecting link between subscribers’ mobile devices. If the spot settings are incorrect, the user will not be able to send messages - the sent SMS will be “lost” within the network, not finding its addressee. You can set up the SMS center in two ways:

  • using the USSD command *5005*7672*+79262909090#, which is typed on the smartphone’s system keyboard;
  • by manually entering the number +79262909090 in the “Network Settings” section of the mobile device.

If the service number is missing or entered incorrectly in the settings, SMS cannot be sent. If, after setting up messages, you do not get the required result, you should assume that the problem lies in the system limitations of the mobile device.

Invalid dialing format

Sometimes messages are not sent because the recipient's number is dialed incorrectly - you must use the international format, which is the country prefix and ten additional digits.

There are cases when an iPhone user tries to send an SMS, but mistakenly uses an email address instead of the recipient's phone number: the iMessage function is compatible only with the email of owners of Apple devices registered in iCloud and fails during communication with gadgets running other operating systems .

Voluntary SMS ban

The error when sending text messages is also associated with a voluntary ban on incoming and outgoing SMS. The block can be either you or the person you are trying to write to. In the second case, you will have to look for other ways to contact the recipient. It is not possible to bypass the established restrictions.

If you have a ban, then to unblock SMS sending you need to:

  1. Dial USSD command #330*1111#.
  1. Wait for a notification from the operator.
  2. Reboot your mobile device or remove and insert the SIM card.

After completing the specified algorithm, messages should be sent as usual.

For what reasons are messages not sent?

Error 50 when sending SMS from a Megafon SIM card occurs for a number of reasons:

  • insufficient funds on balance;
  • the client has set a block on receiving text on the SIM card;
  • SMS center settings are lost;
  • device memory is full;
  • the recipient's number was dialed incorrectly;
  • Cell phone settings are incorrect.

It is worth talking about each of the cases in more detail, as well as describing ways to correct the situation.

Phone settings

The reason for the SMS sending error may be hidden in the phone itself. Regardless of the operating system of the device, the user should:

  1. Make sure the cellular module is active. If the signal quality is poor or the subscriber is roaming, the gadget can automatically block the antenna.
  2. Check the data transfer mode. If the smartphone is configured to send SMS only in 3G networks, the user will not be able to send a text message from a 2G zone.
  3. Update connection protocols. Sometimes, to fix the problem, it is enough to re-register the SIM card in the operator’s network by rebooting the phone.

Although the interfaces of iPhone and Android smartphones are different, these menu sections can be accessed using the function search present in both operating systems (called by swiping down on the home screen).

Gadget settings are lost

The problem may be with the cell phone itself or the SIM card. If all the problems described above have been checked, the following reasons should be considered:

  1. The gadget's antenna does not work because the cellular module is malfunctioning. This can happen when the signal level is low, and the situation also occurs when you are in a roaming area.
  2. If data transfer is not activated, then the text may not be sent. When the settings indicate sending only when connected to 3G, sending SMS in a 2G zone will not be possible.
  3. In some cases, updating the SIM card protocols is required. There is no need to change the card; just register the number in the system again. To do this, you will need to restart the gadget.
  • Interesting information
  • The client can move the SIM card to another phone. If there are no problems with forwarding, then the problem is with the mobile phone.

Employee assistance

If none of the tips listed above gives the required result, you should contact Megafon consultants for help, who will check the user's phone in the database and tell you what to do to activate the SMS service.

Contact the company's employees by phone or a personal visit to the operator's salon. In each case, the subscriber will have to undergo identification using the passport to which the SIM card is registered. Before contacting technical support, it is recommended to check:

  • personal account balance or the number of SMS remaining in the package. Megafon does not allow you to send messages “on credit”;
  • the SIM card is working, just insert the chip into another device and try to send an SMS; if the problem persists, you will have to replace the SIM card with a new one for free;
  • absence of radio interference for communication; perhaps messages are not sent due to failures within the operator’s network or the user leaving the coverage area of base stations;

Although these actions seem obvious, users sometimes forget about their necessity and immediately begin to search for a solution to the problem among complex system settings.

Thanks to the tips presented, you can figure out why SMS messages are not sent from Megafon and fix the problem on your own. If you are unable or unwilling to configure the SMS service yourself, you must contact technical support staff for help.

The simplest reason: the phone's internal memory is full

This problem has remained with push-button phones, which had limited internal memory. Nowadays, modern smartphones have gigabytes of space for recording information, but sometimes a simple SMS cannot fit in this space, since it is occupied by photos, videos and other files. To solve the problem, you need to use special utilities that will remove temporary files, and also carry out cleaning yourself.

The user can do the following:

  1. Go to messaging applications and delete several conversations.
  2. Download the Clean Master utility from the app store.
  3. Run the utility and clear temporary application files. If the phone has never been cleaned, it can take up to 15 minutes, but up to 2 – 4 gigabytes of space will be freed up.

Once you resolve the issue, you need to check your phone regularly to ensure it doesn't reoccur. To do this, check your phone about once a month using the utility. In Message Settings, select the option to clear chats automatically after they reach 100 messages or more.

Mobile operator overload

Just 10 years ago, mobile phone users were not surprised by delays in message delivery on holidays. Nowadays problems occur less frequently, but the quality of communication in some areas of large cities leaves much to be desired. You can strengthen it according to the instructions:

  • open the main menu with system settings (the main parameters such as sound mode, screen brightness, network connection are listed there);
  • activate the “On the plane” option;
  • wait until the phone is completely disconnected from the network signal;
  • Stop using Airplane mode.

After these manipulations, the phone will connect to the nearest cell tower. This will provide a more confident signal. To be safe, you can reboot your phone.

But sometimes even these actions do not help, in this case, go to the Downdetector website and check how the cellular operator works in your area. In most cases, it is enough to wait a few hours, and then the SMS will begin to arrive and be sent again.

Messages end up in the Spam folder

More often than other reasons, users of modern smartphones encounter message blocking. All incoming messages end up in the Spam folder. They are not visible on the device. In this case, the signal level on the device remains high, but no notifications are received.

You can get rid of the problem by following the instructions:

  1. Go to your smartphone's settings.
  2. Remove blocking from applications.
  3. In the Application Manager, find the one that is responsible for messages.
  4. Open its menu.
  5. Find the "Clear Data" button. Click it.
  6. Now go to Task Manager. There, in the messages tab, you need to find “Spam Settings”. Turn them off.
  7. Reboot your phone.

This is enough so that the phone no longer blocks incoming SMS. If you have problems with receiving messages, then you should look at the settings. Sometimes the system turns them on on its own after an update. Usually only short numbers end up in spam, but it can happen otherwise.

Problems with the SIM card or the phone itself

Prolonged use of the SIM card leads to its failure. In this case, the subscriber is partially or completely left without communication. Sometimes voice calls continue to function, but messages cannot be exchanged.

If changing the device did not help restore the SMS function, then you need to contact your operator and replace the SIM card. Your subscriber number will be saved. Sometimes radical measures are not required - just clean the contacts on the SIM card and in the connector where it is inserted. If the problem turns out to be your phone, take it to a service center for repair.

Step-by-step instructions for finding out the reason why SMS messages do not arrive on your phone

The phone must be checked based on the frequency of occurrence of certain malfunctions. Therefore, step-by-step instructions have been created for all smartphone owners that will definitely help solve the problem of not receiving SMS.

  1. First of all, check your SIM card. If you find out that it does not work, then you need to take your passport and contact the nearest office of your operator. Usually it takes no more than 10 minutes to replace a SIM card. You only need to write an application. Please note that after activating a new card, some types of messages may not reach the subscriber. Some mobile operators have set restrictions due to which SMS from banks do not arrive on the first day. This is how they try to protect people from being scammed.
  2. Check your phone settings. The anti-spam feature can block SMS. Don't forget to check the memory status; if your device has small internal storage, it will quickly fill up. We have already talked about troubleshooting these problems.
  3. Application conflict. Every smartphone has basic software for sending and receiving messages. Sometimes users want to expand its functions and install additional applications. If after some time you stop receiving SMS messages, you need to remove additional software. Interestingly, if your standard application starts to malfunction and you don’t know what to do about it, you can install alternative software. For example, Handcent SMS will allow you to receive messages even when the signal level is low. After installing it, you need to go to application settings and set it as default. The standard application must be disabled.
  4. Modern smartphones are susceptible to viruses, some of which are message interceptors. They are usually used to steal money from bank cards. You need to install an antivirus utility to remove the malicious object. This software is recommended for everyone who uses banking applications and mobile banking on their smartphone. Install utilities only from the application store and from trusted developers. After installation is complete, scan your system; this may take some time.
  5. Most smartphones have a function for blacklisting numbers. If you do not receive messages from a specific person or resource, check whether his contacts are on the ignore list. If you notice a contact you need there, delete it.
  6. Sometimes the problem with SMS delivery lies in a simple glitch. You can correct the incorrect operation of the messaging service with a simple reboot. Cell phone repair technicians often recommend doing this step first, but it's best to test the system first.
  7. Every mobile phone can be completely reset. In this case, all applications and their data will be lost. Instructions for restoring a phone to factory settings were developed for each device separately. First copy all the necessary data to a flash drive or cloud storage. After turning on the smartphone, enter the login and password for your account. Applications can be installed from the store (a list of utilities you have previously used is saved there).

Typically these steps are enough to activate SMS delivery. You can make them at home, without the help of qualified craftsmen.

Why may I not receive messages from Sberbank?

Almost all clients of this bank pay 60 rubles a month to receive information about the movement of funds in the account in real time. The bank will notify you of all balance changes via SMS. There are several problems that Mobile Bank users face:

  • failure during activation, no message was received within 3 days about the start of the service;
  • SMS duplication;
  • partial notification (not all balance changes are displayed);
  • Alerts work only for one card (main).

If SMS messages from Sberbank do not arrive on your phone, there may be several reasons. Bank representatives most often name the following:

  1. You have activated the "Economy package". In this case, you will be able to transfer money via SMS, but will not know about the balance change in real time. Messages will not be sent after each transaction. If you want to receive complete information and request your balance at any time for free, then you must select the paid “Full package”. It will allow you to receive information about all movements of funds.
  2. You are unable to monitor your account due to non-payment of service fees. In this case, SMS messages will also stop arriving on your phone. The service will resume immediately after the card is topped up.
  3. Like any other system, Mobile Bank sometimes requires maintenance; during maintenance, messages are not received. Service failures are also possible; this does not happen often. In this case, you just need to wait a few hours and the status of your account will be updated.
  4. You are in a place where cellular network reception is poor. In this case, messages may be delayed. You can reboot your smartphone so that it communicates with the nearest tower, as well as move to another location.
  5. There was a glitch in the message settings and the number 900 from which the mailing was sent ended up in spam or the blacklist. You can fix this problem in the same way as with other numbers - clear the spam settings and check the blacklist. Some people use it, if you stop receiving SMS from the bank after connecting it, then you need to add 900 to the exceptions or completely stop the service.
  6. After the SIM card is restored, messages may not arrive for some time, this is due to the fact that the operator is trying to prevent fraud. Most often, Tele 2 users encounter this.
  7. The most common reason for stopping SMS notifications is changing your phone number. After you have changed your subscriber number with your mobile operator, you need to display the new data in your Sberbank Personal Account. This is very important, since the old SIM card may eventually be resold to another person and he will be able to access your account.

Sometimes, after changing the phone number in the Personal Account, users encounter another problem - not all types of notifications are received in messages, the subscriber does not receive codes to pay for services. In this case, you need to contact Sberbank technical support to resume alerts.

Recommendations for solving the problem from different telecom operators

Cellular operators also give various reasons why SMS messages may not reach subscribers. Let's look at recommendations from every major operator in the Russian Federation.

SMS messages do not arrive on the phone with the Beeline number

If SMS messages do not arrive on your Beeline phone, this may be due to the following reasons:

  1. You are in a place where the signal from the tower is “jammed”. Such “anomalous zones” exist in many large cities, as well as outside them. The operator recommends moving a few meters to find a place with reliable signal reception. If you are outside the city, you need to move to higher ground.
  2. Your number is blocked; to clarify information about the reasons and timing of the freeze, you need to call 8800-700-0611.
  3. You've been offline for too long. Many of us turn off the phone for a while, and after returning to the network, SMS messages usually arrive almost immediately. In fact, all messages first go to the SMS center, which accumulates them when the subscriber is not online. If you turn off your phone for more than 24 hours, the accumulated data will be destroyed.
  4. The sender entered the phone number incorrectly. To deliver messages, it is important that the subscriber number is indicated in international format, starting with +7.

Like all operators, Beeline also experiences technical failures when sending and delivering messages is impossible. In this case, you just need to wait a while.

SMS messages do not arrive on phone with Tele-2 number

This operator has a list of reasons almost the same as Beeline. The only difference is that it uses a special SMS center, which may periodically become distorted in the settings. You can restore it according to the following rules:

  1. In Android and Windows systems, you need to go to the message settings and select SMS center. Re-enter the number +79043490000. Save your changes. You can also copy and paste the existing number again. Then be sure to reboot the device.
  2. On iOS, settings are changed differently, using USSD commands. You must enter **5005*7672*+79043490000# in the phone number dialing field to replace the SMS center with a universal one.

This operator also recommends checking whether you are within the network coverage area. You can check if your number is blocked by calling 611, a robot will answer you and tell you about the service status.

SMS messages do not arrive on the phone with Megafon number

This carrier also has underlying issues that can make messages undeliverable. The recommendations are:

  • replace the SMS center number with +79262909090;
  • the sender needs to double-check the recipient’s number: it should start with +7, and you should also pay attention to other numbers;
  • There is a ban on incoming messages, you can remove it and all other restrictions using the USSD command #330*1111#, after sending it, reboot the device.

It is also worth checking your phone settings and call quality. In some localities, Megafon may not work properly due to overload. This is due to the fact that the operator does not have time to modernize and install new towers. Also, do not expect fast delivery of messages on public holidays, then all mobile operators experience inconvenience.

What to do if messages do not arrive

There are as many ways to solve problems as there are sources. Below are options that almost always help you start receiving SMS again.

Changing SIM card

Changing the SIM card will help you find out whether the problem is with it or with the device itself. You don’t have to buy a new one - you can borrow from a friend, colleague, wife, child.

If the other SIM works without problems, all messages are received, then you can safely go to the cellular store where you purchased the card that requires replacement. There they will do it for free upon presentation of the owner’s passport.

Restarting the device

The probability of reboot success increases if SMS stops arriving unexpectedly.
This is a simple method that you need to try first. It will help if the problem is caused by a firmware bug or full RAM. The likelihood of success increases if SMS stops arriving unexpectedly, which signals a failure.

This is usually done by holding down the power key and clicking a specific button in the menu that appears.

On Samsung smartphones and tablets the process is different: you need to press the power and volume down buttons for 10-15 seconds. But you can get by using the same method that is used for other gadgets.

Checking your phone settings

Do Not Disturb mode
Do not disturb mode may be activated accidentally from the notification shade or when changing the volume. There are several ways to check whether it is enabled or not, and deactivate if necessary:

  • Through settings:
  • go to the “sounds” or “notifications” item;
  • find “Do Not Disturb” or something similar;
  • deactivate if enabled.
  • Some gadgets have a corresponding setting in a small menu that pops up when you change the volume:
  • press the volume key;
  • switch notification mode.

You also need to check the specified SMS center number in the SIM card settings. MTS users encounter this problem more often. The number can be obtained from the operator. To do this, you need to call the support service or write to the company's email. Even if everything is correct, it won’t hurt to delete and re-enter the number.

Clearing device memory

On a push-button phone, it is enough to delete old SMS, clear the phone book of unused numbers, and the call log. This rarely helps on smartphones, but if the device constantly reports that the storage is full, you should delete photos, videos, and applications.

Uninstalling third-party applications

Sometimes downloading third-party software for sending messages helps.
First, you need to find those programs that directly affect sending messages. These may be third-party applications downloaded for convenience. If instant messengers have access to SMS for synchronization, this also affects their work.

Checking the permissions of downloaded applications will help identify those programs that require access to SMS, but are not one of them. If there are any, then you need to delete them one by one and check whether messages have started to arrive.

Sometimes downloading third-party software for sending messages helps. You just need to type SMS into the Market search and download one of the first programs.

Virus check

Antivirus is rarely installed on smartphones, unlike computers. However, there are few differences between them and on both platforms there are malicious programs designed to steal money, personal data, and correspondence.

If SMS do not arrive, then you should download an antivirus and run a deep scan of the entire system. This takes a long time, but almost always helps to identify viruses on a smartphone.

Black list

Blacklist
By mistake, you can add a number to the blacklist, and then all SMS and calls from it will be blocked. It’s easy to check emergency numbers:

  • Log in to the Messages app or Phonebook.
  • In one of the upper corners, find 3 dots or a gear - the settings icon.
  • In the drop-down menu, find the item “blocked” or similar to it.

A list of blocked contacts should open. From here you can remove those from whom you need SMS.

Resetting your phone

This is a last resort if none of the previous methods have worked. Resetting the settings involves returning the phone to the state in which it left the factory. All data, settings are erased, applications, games, photos, videos, contacts are deleted.

Before resetting, you need to remove the SIM card and microSD from the phone with contacts and files that you want to save. There are 2 reset methods. New smartphones have a special item in the settings, and first you need to check whether the procedure can be carried out using this method.

  • Charge the device to at least 40% to avoid accidental shutdown in the middle of the process, which can lead to breakdown.
  • Go to settings.
  • Find the “Backup and reset” section (can be in the settings themselves or in the “advanced”, “advanced settings” items).
  • At the bottom there will be a “Reset settings” button.

Afterwards you need to agree to the pop-up windows and wait 10-15 minutes. Once the process is complete, you will need to do the initial setup of your phone, just like when you purchased it.

Recovery menu
If the settings do not have the required item, you will have to use the Recovery menu:

  • Turn off the device.
  • Press and hold the power button.
  • Further, the process varies and models from each manufacturer have their own key combination. The entry to the menu for Fly phones is also discussed here.
  • When the gadget shows the first signs of life, hold down the volume up key.
  • When the splash screen appears, release the power button.
  • When the image of the lying Android robot appears, release the volume up key.
  • Hold down the power button, press and immediately release volume up.
  • The recovery menu will appear. It is the same for most devices.
  • Select the line “wipe data/factory reset”. Controls: volume keys.
  • Select Yes – delete all user data. Press the power button.
  • After automatically switching to the initial menu (where you were in point 9), select the line “reboot system now”.
  • Wait.

The process is difficult, not to mention the fact that on some models getting into just the menu is a problem. But this method is guaranteed to solve the problem with incoming SMS.
